Not realy, my parents are hard core catholic. I think they'd prefer me listen to stuff about bling, bustin caps in people, and hoes then music that sounds like it is sung by satan. Also, the premise of black metal is much more controversial then rap. people can tolerate the stuff in rap, but someone screams the word "hail satan" and everyone goes quiet...rather funny to see how people react to anti-christion beliefs.
Not always, I listen to christian black metal bands all the time, ever heard of Crimson Moonlight or Frost Like Ashes?
Man if I could round up all the "gansta" rappers in the US and drop a bomb on them, damn I'd gladly do it. The most pathetic, shitful music with its head stuck so far up its own ass it really doesn't deserve to get release.
ie. God damn I fuckin' HATE rap shit music. As a musician I find that crap severely insulty.
Ahhh.. that feels better
As for what I'm listening to haha, just finished listening to Tool's 'new' album and now am listening to Shawn Mullins' Soul's Core. I regularly go from rock to folk in the switch of a CD.
I do really love Shawn Mullins' voice, is something special. Favourite female singer is by far and away Eva Cassidy. Most beautiful voice ever.

Christian black metal? No offense, but isn't that kind of contradictory of itself? Like the word holy-sin, heh. Well, perhaps your definition of black metal differs from mine. Also, considering the fact that black metal was for the most part built on scandanavian anti-christian values, I always considered it one of themajor foundations of the sub genre. Although, overall, the definitions of the sub genres are very loose. So I'm not saying that your wrong or anything, but I can you explain? How exactly is it set up? The vocals usually used in black metal are growling, screeching, and sometimes chanting...Wouldn't that be rather blasphemous, singing about the lord that way? Well, I want to make it clear that I am NOT trying to start and arguement, or disprove you. I am in fact interested in what you have told me...I find the concept interesting, so please explain the premise and foundations in any way you can.
Oh, and no I haven't heard of them. Tried to see if i could get a listen at pandora.com...but it wasn't there. Do you know anywhere that I could listen to their music?

I don't understand it either. It seems like too much anger, evil, and acting tough.
I can't understand exactly what kids could be angry about these days. Is it too many Gamecube games to the point where they can't make a decision? I dunno...

I like death and black metal a lot, expecially Opeth, Slayer, In Flames, and Dark Tranquillity. I also listen to regular metal, rock, alternative, and some modern rock/indie stuff.
Oh yeah, I also find all of this "gangsta" rap crap that is on tv/radio nowadays an insult to musicians who actually have talent and to the entire music industry as a whole.

You're not the first person to have asked me this. It's true that some christians consider "christian" metal bands evil or blasphemous. In my opinion, a genre of music by itself can't be good or evil, it's up to the artists to create the music and lyrics in any way they see fit. I don't find death grunts or black metal screams evil if they're used in a way that praises god. People enjoy all types of music, and christians are no exception. Christian black metal bands in particular tend to seperate the genre from their beliefs. You'll notice bands like Crimson Moonlight don't look any different from secular black metal bands, because they love the genre, but they don't adhere to the beliefs of those that are typically involved with it. In black metal, the lyrics tend to be more cryptic than other genres of metal but if you look closely the message is there. Some bands are more blunt about god in their lyrics though. Christian metal is still a very obscure and misunderstood genre, but it is slowly growing.

skip to the list for some possible new things to listen to
Man! not all rap is crap(as my dad would say, "rap-crap"). Gangsta rap is crap but I like project pat and 3-6mafia because of the beats and original combinations of words that make up something i can bob my head to. Lol, i grew up saying rap crap. Rap takes time to produce and original beats are extremely hard to come up these days. The old stuff was original and pretty good(old snoop, drdre, warren G, wutang) and its most of the rap i listen to. Theres also hiphop, stuff like del tha funkee homosapien(from gorrilaz, but started way back, aka deltron), scarab(living legends and heiroglyphics in general is a good hip hop source or a good place to start anyways), atmosphere, and dialated peoples and stuff is pretty good. Most the rap now is so overproduced and ridiculous. Lil scrappy? give me a break. I have to admit I have somewhat turned my back, i can only listen to 80s rap so much and i like singing and real music more.
Despite this little quote/reprise on rap I listen to pretty much anything but country and most new rock(drony emo crap on the radio these days, please, I want good rock again!). We can probably all unite in that fact that almost all country sucks, at least i would think(and hope ). I play guitar as well as have opinions about music so I have an appreciation for technical stuff like metal but nothing ever changes the fact that one of the only things that matters in music is if it gets you to bob your head and move your body a little. One thing we can surely unite on is the purpose of music. "One good thing about musiiic, when it hits ya, ya feel nooo pain"-sublime. Or relates to you anyways.
The list: a little chronilogical
60s stuff. old good rock from woodstock eras. Hendrix, Zepplin(one of the only bands that made almost all good songs, hard to say about most 2or3goodtracks onaCD bands we have and had), some Pink Flloyd, some Doors, some Beatles ect.
Im just gonna stick blues in here. Blues is sweet and very fun to play on guitar. 12 bar blues scale is cool. Muddy waters, bbking. im sure there tons more that are great but i find i dont really need much blues to listen to as id rather mess around and play it on guitar. Muddy waters "mannish boy" is a good song.
Queen, sabbath, ramones, misfits, sex pistols, black flag, bob marley, some early punk, some butt rock ect.
Nirvana, tool, perfect circle, nin, red hot chili peppers, choking victim, leftover crack, a global threat, INDK, no cash, morning glory, operation ivy, suicide machines, the unseen, antiflag, bouncing souls, against all authority, ann beretta, System of a down, minor threat, Bad religion(very original and intelligent lyrics), 311, AFI, against me!, Less than jake, strung out, pennywise, filibuster, boy sets fire, children of bodom, in flames, Yngwie Malmsteen(amazing guitarist, so amzingly good, too technical to listen to all the time but him and Steve Vai are crazy. When he rewrites classical songs there great), little spurts of classical ,propagandi, catch22, streetlight manifesto, pepper, long beach dub allstars, potshot, NOFX, deftones, damien marley, dropkick murpheys, gang starr, rancid, project pat, lagwagon, mad caddies, rage against the machine, the refused, rx bandits, slightly stoopid, social distorition, spearhead, twista, timbaland and magoo, voodoo glow skulls, sublime(one of the greats, especially if you smoke ),
sorry i had to do it. I freakin love music. Plus if anyone with the same interest wants to look into something new then i might have provided something . Id be most pleased with that even if i dont know about it.
edit: i almost forgot benny page and some jungle beats . those are good. Any of the bands i listen to talk of hate or displesure or even wanting to kill yourself. I find these themes only as a reason to try and make the world better, or destory it when the time comes. A little crazy on the ladder, "but baby, im and anarchist, and your a spineless liberal"-against me!.
I might get flamed for this but.... Dave Matthews Band Xavier Rudd Ane Brun The Beautiful Girls Radiohead (Thom Yorke's The Eraser too) a bit of Sam Roberts Broken Social Scene Belle and Sebastian
If you don't like it deal with it.. if you do like it pm me so we can share new bands and stuff
I don't realy like any paticular kind of music.Though I tend to shy away from country :P. As for any paticular bands/songs i've been listening to blood hound gang and blue october alot.

Interesting, I'll look into the stuff. I'd love to turn it up real loud and when my mom comes barging in screaming her head off about satan ill be like...ACTUALLY!!!! its christian, see?....
Considering that Black metal by many definitions actually includes being satanic, I think its easy to stereotype it as that only. Perhaps it was then, but the genre can change. not all scandanavian values no more, heh,
