When did I say I didnt' pick a fair fight? I try to make it un-fair as possible by picking someone with only a couple levels lower than me, but that can be attributed to a FPS where you wouldn't run head onto someone with a flame thrower when all you got is a knife.
I am no griefer. Unless you consider a griefer somoene who sits BY HIMSELF camping people till he can loot them, when if that person only played with half a brain or picked up some random person in town they could do the same to me.

Was a bit too hardcore for me. I play when I come home from work in the morning ( I work nights) and my heart would beat out of my chest sometimes as a "red" player would run by (red means they have recently killed another player and are "free" targets to anyone). I didn't need that kind of excitement so close to bed time. I had played in open beta and before logging off on the last day of beta gave all my stuff to another player feeling I wasn't going to subscribe. Two days later I decided I wanted to play again and found myself naked in the game with a level 20 mage. I made feeble attempts to earn money for new stuff but the grind was bad enough with decent equipment and clothes let alone NAKED. So i did what I vowed I would never do, and that was buy Adena from an online site. I think I bought something like 5 million for 120 bucks. My character was pretty damn impressive after that (of course) BUT, knowing i paid REAL currency for the items I had made the thought of losing them much more painful, especially my goathead staff (which I imagine is crap by now). It was after a few deaths (which include xp loss by the way) that I decided Lineage 2, while a fun and beautiful game was just a tad on the "hardcore" side for me.
And I must ask... How did you manage to get 5000 gold in WoW before you got to level 36?

I played a year ago, I quit the day Battelfields was released I think.
But it was pretty easy. I liked being an Engineer/Miner and I found a hole in the market where I could sell 20 copper bars for 1g - 1.5g each and it would only take me 5min to get 20 copper bars, then I killed Vultros at lvl 20 and sold his dagger for 50g. After that I had about 150g and I bought alot of really good stuff and just Dueled all day betting people money... since the only fun I found I could have in the game was dueling. My Hunting consisted of me sitting in the Barrens trying to piss off Horde enough to try and attack me. Although I did kill a lvl 30-32 (ca'nt remember exactly) Orc Shaman when I was like lvl 25-27 once. That was a blast!
Edit: oh and not to mention... I would buy out every single copper sale that was under 1g and sell that too and it was a combination of Dueling for money and selling the copper that got me so much money. I was f'ing uber at Dueling. I could beat anyone but paladins, because i was a hunter and killed by getting lots of crits really fast... where as they were immune to that playstyle by healing. Against a good dueler, I would alsmot be dead when they finally fell. Most my fights where "next hit" win type things.
In honor of this thread, I'm go to stop refering to my ingame character as my "toon", and start refering to him as my "instrument of death". Thank you for the inspiration.

I killed a level 29 hunter with my level 21 Gnome Rogue "Stabby", but Stabby was twinked beyond reason. I had blue this and that and everything enchanted. After beating him in a duel he just said "Gah". I then inspected his clothes and the stuff he was wearing was still in the mid teens and If i remember correctly he even had something that was still below 10. I felt so bad for the kid I went to the auction house bought him a new outfit and weapon. I'm talking from head to toe. After I buying all that stuff I sent him a message and told him to meet me. I gave him the stuff (he was stoked) we dueled again and he spanked me pretty good.
I beat the crap out of a level 31 rogue with my level 24, non-twinked undead rogueling. All while he had 3 or 4 little buddies pestering me, and my friends sat back and laughed rather than flagging and jumping in to help. Felt good, I managed to kill him three times in a row before they finally got their shit together and took me down in round 4. People say there's no skill to pvp in WoW, but I humbly disagree. If there was no skill involved, that Rogue and his entourage of high teen characters would have no problem taking me out. I loved my Rogue man...

Tibia, now that was a hardcore game! 10% exp loss when you died (from all your total exp, not just your current level) and also 10% of all skills (when you started getting higher you could stand around for over 20 hours without gaining 1 skill advance) and the best thing was that there wasn't any level/skill cap, you could go however high you want
also, me and my friend played our 2 low level chars.. uhm, sorry, meant our two instruments of death anyway, we were around level 15 and we killed a level 80 guy without much problem, since we were just clearly better than him, now that's how a game should be can't argue about skill counting in that game.

You're not a true 'hardcore' PVPer then, in fact you sound pretty carebear (by the way the 'hardcore' use the term). To be a true 'hardcore' PVPer, you wouldn't have had fun killing that shaman because there were no consequences, it would only have been fun if you could take his stuff at the end. I'm also not sure why you dedicated several lines in your OP to talking about taking people's stuff, since it's clearly not neccesary for you to have fun in PVP.

On-topic: I think slowly the MMO companies are creating 'desirable' PvP. WAR has both PvE and PvP areas; people can have the best of both worlds,without being forced into either. AoC has players go through 20 levels of single-player combat preparation (am I right here?) before entering the PvP game. Etc Etc Etc.
But I think people,even in full-on PvP environments who fear being 'ganked' could be 'educated' in how it's not so bad. Perhaps.
Let's say Jimmy enters the game. After tutorial and getting a quest,he heads out. Upon leaving the relative safety of the NPC town,Jimmy is trash-talked and then 'ganked' by 4 people in shiny metal armor. Jimmy does not like this at all. Regardless,Jimmy decides to go out another way on respawn. Sadly for Jimmy,he is again ganked by a single high-skill and in some parts a well-geared individual,who again trash-talks and laughs a lot at him.
By now you're probably thinking:
a) Jimmy should log off. That's 'ganking' s**t that comes with full-on PvP.
b) That's full-on PvP for you. Deal with it.
However,Jimmy decides to try ONE more time at escaping the safety of the town. However in the town he is accustomed by Jack,a helpful player who has decided having advanced quite far in the game himself to help out some new players (and ok,seek new recruits for their clan up in the hills) in the city. The city of which is being well-known in the community for a ganker hotspot.
Jack helps Jimmy out a bit (items,gold,etc),and gives him some good advice quickly-ish. As he has to log out himself. Jimmy tries out Jack's idea after this conversation. Gathering about 7-9 other new players,Jimmy shares the quest with all of them and proceeds to head out the same way he was killed the second time.
Jimmy goes out first. The high-geared/skilled ganker is back with more trash-talk. However,our 'ganker' is about to meet the fury of....THE ZERG OF JIMMY! The numbers (and the element of surprise...obviously the 'ganker' wasn't decked for himself vs. group) outclass individual skill and Jimmy learns that 'groups=higher chance of survival in full-on PvP.' Oh,and he managed to take his helmet,which happens to be the 3rd best helmet type in the game! Now Jimmy likes PvP a little more,and their group go on to do the quest,etc etc.
Because the community was willing to help out Jimmy and advise him through the PvP-ness,Jimmy likes PvP a little more now and feels he will get help to beat the nasty PK'ers. Sounds like common sense,but if a 'ganker'-fearing player perhaps sees how much fun it is to be the GANKER and not the VICTIM,you never know; they might like it. Pretty much what happened to me.

I found a way of 'bugging' WOW low-levels without killing them. But I did that too,mostly with this mage I used to hang with.
Occasionally I'd crack open the bow and fire 200-300 dmg shots at them,then 'chase' them for fun. But that's not all I did.
One time (being a rogue in WOW was the best) I sneaked around Redridge Mountains to Stonewatch,where a group of low-level people were trying to kill a boss mob. They had some high levels among them. Each time they pulled the whole string of mobs I'd kill the boss mob,laugh then vanish. This was done 3 times and they eventually got mad and tried to kill me.
Of course,I did more than my fair share of helping Alliance low-levels,only for them to bring equal-levels and kill me! Ungrateful wretches!
This is why I look forward to Darkfall in part; if I see some elves trying to kill some mobs,I can decide to help them out and hear their thanks. And then their bows. WHOOSH!
But yeah,I find 'griefing' to be boring if it just involves corpse-camping/re-killing someone in unoriginal ways.

I am not a ganker, I am a PKer and a PVPer I kill for the challenge, not to piss someone off, I kill because it's fun, not to piss somoene off, I kill KSers to piss them off . It was fun because he was alot higher than me. But, that is rare and WoW's "PVP" quickly bored the living hell out of me. I found myself dueling for hours on end and staying my current level and not even doing anything but dueling at the end.

well, i know most ppl like to gank n'stuff, most of my friends that play mmos do it. and they just say "they did that to me. so now, if i c someone else, i'm gonna do it too" and thats the vicious circle of mmos :
You know.. I do that too sometimes. But it normally back fires when I try to tab target the 5mobs he targets and I accedently kill him. (True story with SW:P) I'm like "oh shit! How do I decast pain! XP"

dude, Spoken in "TRUE" carebear Style!! The only question is it doesnt explain WOW> We have camped lowbie gankers in WOW many times. I dont see the carebears in that game going anywhere
The amusing thing about carebears in WOW is they have to group up with us non carebears if they want good gear. I find that totally and very amusing. On a side note its annoying. I feel like they are mooching because they barely put out half the dps a more pvp toon inclined is capable of!

I do like your complaint about me being 'aggressive', it's really rich coming from a 'hardcore' PVPer; where's your backbone? It's also quite amusing to see one of the 'kill people and take their stuff' crowd whining about being sad and the world being twisted, apparently because people don't enjoy being victims for your playstyle.
You're not a true 'hardcore' PVPer then, in fact you sound pretty carebear (by the way the 'hardcore' use the term). To be a true 'hardcore' PVPer, you wouldn't have had fun killing that shaman because there were no consequences, it would only have been fun if you could take his stuff at the end. I'm also not sure why you dedicated several lines in your OP to talking about taking people's stuff, since it's clearly not neccesary for you to have fun in PVP.

On-topic: I think slowly the MMO companies are creating 'desirable' PvP. WAR has both PvE and PvP areas; people can have the best of both worlds,without being forced into either. AoC has players go through 20 levels of single-player combat preparation (am I right here?) before entering the PvP game. Etc Etc Etc.
But I think people,even in full-on PvP environments who fear being 'ganked' could be 'educated' in how it's not so bad. Perhaps.
Let's say Jimmy enters the game. After tutorial and getting a quest,he heads out. Upon leaving the relative safety of the NPC town,Jimmy is trash-talked and then 'ganked' by 4 people in shiny metal armor. Jimmy does not like this at all. Regardless,Jimmy decides to go out another way on respawn. Sadly for Jimmy,he is again ganked by a single high-skill and in some parts a well-geared individual,who again trash-talks and laughs a lot at him.
By now you're probably thinking:
a) Jimmy should log off. That's 'ganking' s**t that comes with full-on PvP.
b) That's full-on PvP for you. Deal with it.
However,Jimmy decides to try ONE more time at escaping the safety of the town. However in the town he is accustomed by Jack,a helpful player who has decided having advanced quite far in the game himself to help out some new players (and ok,seek new recruits for their clan up in the hills) in the city. The city of which is being well-known in the community for a ganker hotspot.
Jack helps Jimmy out a bit (items,gold,etc),and gives him some good advice quickly-ish. As he has to log out himself. Jimmy tries out Jack's idea after this conversation. Gathering about 7-9 other new players,Jimmy shares the quest with all of them and proceeds to head out the same way he was killed the second time.
Jimmy goes out first. The high-geared/skilled ganker is back with more trash-talk. However,our 'ganker' is about to meet the fury of....THE ZERG OF JIMMY! The numbers (and the element of surprise...obviously the 'ganker' wasn't decked for himself vs. group) outclass individual skill and Jimmy learns that 'groups=higher chance of survival in full-on PvP.' Oh,and he managed to take his helmet,which happens to be the 3rd best helmet type in the game! Now Jimmy likes PvP a little more,and their group go on to do the quest,etc etc.
Because the community was willing to help out Jimmy and advise him through the PvP-ness,Jimmy likes PvP a little more now and feels he will get help to beat the nasty PK'ers. Sounds like common sense,but if a 'ganker'-fearing player perhaps sees how much fun it is to be the GANKER and not the VICTIM,you never know; they might like it. Pretty much what happened to me.

I found a way of 'bugging' WOW low-levels without killing them. But I did that too,mostly with this mage I used to hang with.
Occasionally I'd crack open the bow and fire 200-300 dmg shots at them,then 'chase' them for fun.
But that's not all I did.
One time (being a rogue in WOW was the best) I sneaked around Redridge Mountains to Stonewatch,where a group of low-level people were trying to kill a boss mob. They had some high levels among them. Each time they pulled the whole string of mobs I'd kill the boss mob,laugh then vanish. This was done 3 times and they eventually got mad and tried to kill me.
Of course,I did more than my fair share of helping Alliance low-levels,only for them to bring equal-levels and kill me! Ungrateful wretches!
This is why I look forward to Darkfall in part; if I see some elves trying to kill some mobs,I can decide to help them out and hear their thanks. And then their bows.
WHOOSH!
But yeah,I find 'griefing' to be boring if it just involves corpse-camping/re-killing someone in unoriginal ways.

It was fun because he was alot higher than me. But, that is rare and WoW's "PVP" quickly bored the living hell out of me. I found myself dueling for hours on end and staying my current level and not even doing anything but dueling at the end.

Remember SWG and how it died... the hardcore PVPers destroyed it for everyone.

dude, Spoken in "TRUE" carebear Style!! The only question is it doesnt explain WOW> We have camped lowbie gankers in WOW many times. I dont see the carebears in that game going anywhere
The amusing thing about carebears in WOW is they have to group up with us non carebears if they want good gear. I find that totally and very amusing. On a side note its annoying. I feel like they are mooching because they barely put out half the dps a more pvp toon inclined is capable of!
