Its not the man its the mission. My problem is he talks and talks and talks, about the past, how things should have been done, what should have been done, what didnt get done, and what wont get done, yet hes the one who bailed out on the game at the early stages of Live. If he really cared this much about it then he would have sucked it up, been a man about it, and let those dumbasses at SoE know what needed to be done for that game to be even better than it was. Instead he just left SoE, why nobody really knows except him.
The difference between him talking shit and us talking shit, is we cant do anything about the game. We cant get hired at SoE and change things, we cant buy the company out or get the rights to it or anything like that, we are, and have been helpless. Raph on the other hand once had the ability to shape that game, but he lost it. We pine over the loss of a great game and a 2nd life. Raph pretends to pine over a lost job.
So it basically sounds to me that you're pissed off at Raph because he didn't step in and save our game.
This is sad. I am sure .... very sure actually, that Raph was given that "promotion" to whatever it was, to get him OUT of any position that had any effect on the direction of the game. I say that because he argued and argued with other powers that be ($OE) that they were heading down a path they should not follow.
It was a conflict between him and $OE that got him removed from decision making in SWG. He didn't bail on us. I believed he finally left because he had seen enough. I am actually amazed he stayed in there as long as he did. (money I am sure was good) Personally, I could not watch some piece of shit company like $OE, systematically destroy a great game that I spent four years developing.

And if you bothered to look at the article, you'd see that there were some interesting people involved, I just happened to have found this in Raph's blog.
I dont look at his site anymore. The mention of it and him alone in your OP is enough to net my cocky post.
Although from what ive read in your post I will agree. SWG will never have what WoW has because of the time and money issue. SoE refuses to SPEND money on Star Wars because they believe the name alone will do all the work for them, raking in piles of cash. It was at one point, then SoE started pissing in our Stim Packs.
Just out of curiosity, what is your problem with Koster?

Hmm...ok, I see your points and they are valid. I wonder though, do we know that he left SWG or was he removed? Or were his decisions overidden? I certainly dont know, but thought some of you might have heard.
In regards to him posting his opinions now though, I have never had a problem with people speaking their mind, regardless of what context it was in or how it might have differed from my own.
I dont have a problem with him having an opinion, its the Internet he can say whatever he wants. Its the actual words within the opinion that irk me.

No, unlike most of the people up here I dont, and never did see him as Jesus, saviour of the people. All I did was expect him to show the players that he gave a shit. Instead he makes some forum post, then dissapears for x amount of time.
Oh, you know this? Provide me with some written, or faxed, documents showing his termination with the company, or his promotion. Id prefer both. And I dont want to see that page from whatever site with it just saying "Raph has l3f7 $0E 4 l1f3 rum0r or n0t??!/
I know there were some "conflicts" within the company involving him, but we dont know if it was on a personal level, or game logistics level. It might have been about a job possition, SWG, EQ, arguments over power, we really dont know. If it was anything other than personall problems or SoE just giving him the boot straight up, then he would have stayed if he really gave a shit about the game.

I'm quite sure he tried to change SoE's mind, but SoE only worries about the money. They don't want a complex game, because that would probably scare most players. They want to make a game that gives them a lot of cash, wow style. So I guess he left when he saw there was no hope at SoE.
I hope someone hires him to make that kind of game he talks about

I won't use colors as it is too hard on the eyes as someone else mentioned.
What you ask is that he fight for your game ... our game. You must be young because a mature adult would know that you can NOT fight city hall in business. You can however give your "best professional advice" when argueing for or against something. There is a balance there that you do not want to cross because it could mean the end of your employment at said company or, in worst case senario ruin your name in the field you are presently employed in. So in the world according to Spathotan, Raph should have put his future in jeopardy to save SWG. You can be a pesimist if you want, but I believe that he did all he could do. I also don't believe he should live his life to your, mine, or anyones expectations. Meaning if he "disappears" for x amount of time .. what hell is it to you?
Asking for and expecting to recieve the information you are requesting is incredibly immature. If that information you are requesting existed and in my possession (which does not exist, least in my possession) you would have NO right to see it, nor should you think you have an expectation to see it. Any MATURE adult would know this and NOT make such a request. Where and how I form my conclusions is by doing alot of reading. Take the post you were refering to .... The one Raph posted stating he was against the CU and the NGE. Did you expect him to post at best a "critical" article/post blasting $OE for doing things he didn't approve of WHILE in the employ of $OE???? If you think or expect him to, you need to rethink what you are expecting.
As you stated we all know there was conflict of some nature between $OE and Raph. It could have been open where other fellow employees "could" have seen it or Raph could have just kept it to himself and left when he hit his saturation point. We, as customers and former customers, do not have any right or an expectation to know exactly what had transpired. I would suggest the Enquirer if you want dirt.
All in all I agree with you on most things you post. But I just think you are extremely bitter over the loss of the BEST game EVER created. We all are. But don't fool yourself that Raph could have saved the game if he had only tried. I think SWG was doomed the moment $OE entered the picture. All that mattered was how long till they killed it.
In a way we should be glad this happend though, if anything but for future mistakes by gaming companies.
I mean really, NOBODY will do this ever again... this more or less was suicide. BUT it showed the rest of the community of things "NOT TO DO EVER"...
Now, if they fire the people that made this choice, then the circle will be complete.
They need to sunset the game, let it go -- Start somthing new (like they say they are) and move on.
Never make this mistake again and say so.... Smedley needs to make one giant speach of his failure and call it a day.
