ok everyone this is an e-mail i want all of you to read and then send to every gamer you know please copy, then paste to and e-mail link and send it off! please help with my cause!
Attension all geeks, gamers, and starwars fans!
im sure you have heard of the mmorpg named "starwars galaxies" if not, its a massively multiplayer online role-playing game, and to get straight to the point....it sucks......i dont mean, really bad game play, or poor grafics, its actually a preety cool game, but when you first buy the game you spend, what? 20 bucks on it? and it takes like an hour to install and make your account...yada, yada, yada all that boring stuff! so when you get to one part to ask you choice of payment, choice of payment you ask? how much could this game be a month? 5 dollars a month? ? 7 dollars a month? 25 dollars a month!!!! wth? (swg box:30 days free trial!) great...i spent 20 dollars on a game that is freakin 25 dollars a month! but to get to my point, i dont know whos in charge of swg or who calls the shots, but that is riddiculas! i mean why that much? im sure it dosn't cost that much to run the game and all, so why 25 a month? but theres more deals you can get, like the two month deal which is a little cheaper, but thats not the point! NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD IT! I MEAN WHY CANT THE MAKE IT FREE! OR AT LEAST CHEAPER! i just cant see why not? i played it for 2 months and so did my friend and i never touched the game since! ive looked at lots of sites that reviewed the game they said they game used to have a lot better stuff and they and they took it all away, and in swg there is no "community" (as some people say) you never see anyone unless you stay in mos eisley and thats just boring! like i spent alot of time in corellia, at there was no one there! so eventually theres not gonna be enough people, because from the review sites i went to they all siad they game gets less people everyday but im sure it would have lots of people if they made it cheaper (or free) but this game is a discrace to all gamers, and starwars fans! i mean what would george lucas say? so everyone "BOYCOTT SWG"!

Done, I just cancelled one of my accounts a few minutes ago. Im sick of the little kids in game. SOE took this game and turned it into a crappy little kids game. GRRR. So I did the only thing in my power I could. Hit the cancel button.
Sigh.
You know what really peeves me? Housing. My government will not pay for my house. And grocery stores...I mean I need food and they want to charge me for it.
Ok, I hate SOE, and I do think SWG:NGE sucks and don't mind a boycott, but to boycott something because it is not free...aaiiiiiiiieeeeee! (The second time today I have shrieked in disbelief)
Do you have ANY idea how much money it takes to pay the salaries of the designers, artists, programmers, forum mods (boo), executives, in addition to paying for hundreds or even over a thousand computer systems and the electricity and Internet bandwidth to run them?! Throw in rental of office space, the electricity for that, some secretaries, a phone system so you can call them and gripe about paying for their hard work....development software, training.
Oh throw in a staff psychologist to tell you to ignore the people that think you should do all of this for free and that obsessing about nuking their house is unhealthy.
Gahhhhhhhh.

Your preaching to the choir here, albeit I dont even play the game, from what I can tell a very educated choir on how they feel their game has ultimately failed. Moreover, your point is non-cohesive, ambiguous and does not prove the point you were going out to make.
What would George Lucas say you ask? "Thanks for the new addition to my mansion, i'll go back to making the movies i care about now" Even if the ripples have reached the high brass of the complete failure that SWG has become figuratively, chances are Mr Lucas still sleeps well at night.
In the end, I think most that would be interested in playing an MMORPG, and has read anything regarding a review/forum/newsgroup or any opinions towards the state of the game would easily be able to identify that it might not be a safe bet. Boycotting SWG is like telling people in today's age to upgrade their computer because the Y2K bug is going to kick the crap out of their computer, its almost frivolous. Those that chose not to play have quit, you cannot draw blood from a stone, they sadly have used up most of their potential customers. The few left that might be interested in the game even after hearing everything, or have lived under a stone in the mmorpg world for the last few years, will still have a chance at a free trial, and although I hate the term, "the proof is in the puddin".
Wow, if that is an example of the ones quitting the game, I am really frightened by thinking of who actually still plays.

1. It's not $25/month it's $14.99 monthly with discounts given for longer subs.
2. Here's my thing on boycotting SOE: I've boycotted the NGE...but what would we be proving if they came out with THE game that we've all been bitching for, and nobody comes? They go "See we were right, players DON'T want this" and then every game they make from then on is NGE style.
Folks, we have to keep our pride in check here if we ever want a game designed like the original Galaxies. And for those of you thinking you'll get what we want from other companies...name one company right now designing a game similar to Pre-CU. I'm not talking DnL promises here, I'm talking about a company that can actually pull it off, complete with distribution. Preferably a game that's out, and populated. Because let's face it, an MMO that no one comes to is going to go down just as fast as a game that's poorly designed.
If SOE were to create a Pre-CU style game, I'd vote with my wallet and my feet...because I want them to know without a doubt, that's what we want.

I agree to some degree, if they do end up bringing back some features that are a positive progression then yes I believe it could bring back subscribers. but I think it will take a while before we see a major improvement of the combat system, crafting intergration, class to class interaction e.g. jedi vs bh. but i do believe one thing, there has to be some form of progress with NGE cause it is obvious they are not detouring from it, so IF they improve the game utilizing it, then hey more the merrier.
I think in the end anything that improves this game to or near what it was, i think is a shot in the right direction, but it will take take devs stop mucking up everything, and focusing on the right areas that need to be addressed and troubleshoot them properly, and get good user feed back from the players themselves. after all we all can speak with our money what we like and what we dont.
I think we only need to maintain a mature, constructive and above all else, a realistic outlook on where this game can or will go, if it fails, hey guess what SOE has no one to blame but themselves. but if it does gradually improve, i think this will be a good comeback for a MMO that has had such a infamous LOVE HATE relationship with its subscriber base. I know it has with me. Ill be one to admit i never had a MMO having me wanting to come back from a absence wondering if it has improved or not i been playing this game off and on since it launched lol. We can only hope for the best. in the end only time will tell, and the future is never set.

We tried that once. This is where we ended up.
We just need to maintain the same mantra -- give us pre-CU servers...give us pre-CU servers....give us pre-CU servers. It really doesn't matter if we add the words douchebags or ass-clowns to the end of that or not. They really do not care. If they could charge us to simply yell insults at them, they'd change the game to only do that and even reduce us to 2 classes -- Smedley's and SWGVets. As long as we give them our credit card numbers to charge.
When it becomes apparent they MUST release a pre-CU server to make enough money to live, they will. No matter how many times we tell them that their mothers wear combat boots. So let your hair down and enjoy the freedom we get on this forum to express ourselves. Say what you feel.

First, you post one long run on sentence with bad grammar in highlighted text that hurst the eyes and then you post false information. It costs $15/mo to play SWG, not $20/mo. Thirdly, you hardly make a good case to convince me that a game needs to be boycotted. There are many reasons to boycott this game, but none of the reasons you gave were good enough. It would be embarrassing to pass along that email to my friends and family, because they know I'm much more educated than what you appear to be in your post.
You say you're 25 in your bio, and you also live in the U.S. So please use the education that you spent 12 years earning and post a coherant and proper post. If you're trying to persuade someone, create a persuasive post. Don't post something like this thinking people will help you, because as much as I don't get along with these posters, they are far more educated than what the email would make them sound like.
