I support what Wizardry said about rdm's, they are very good to have and very fun. But i allready got i quite high lvled rdm so thats why i wont start one.

Id like to start do some missions and quests, but it would be nice to have someone to do things with. Never liked soloing in FFXI at all. hehe.. well we i will see if you are online, added most of you i think.

but anyhow im a galka tank as it fits  best for that job.My name is Centurion,so you can send a /befriend Centurion if you see me on.I will most likely be a war/nin then eventaully become a Nin/war.I really love playing thief,so maybe my friend or someone will switch tanking from me later on.
To tell ya the truth 2 BLM is sometimes a dream come true.I would like a backup  "provoke"but will see how it works out.2 WHm is even good for awhile, but a RDM becomes extremely valuable around mid levels. To help any of you out,RDM is perhaps the best farming job in the game as well,so this might be some food for thought.
There isn't a big hurry to get levelling because,i think it is a good idea before we go beyond level 10 to do a few quests. This will give you fame, takes quite a bit to raise it,so now is a good time to start.Mission 1 to start as well by talking to the guards near the exit to sarutabaruta.`
remeber to get your signets before going out so that you will get crystals and conquest points wich will be ver y valuable to us ,when we are ready to do some BCNM.

Yep home is Windhurst. I already had created there a WHM but since i seen tymora wanted to play one i just switched to BML
In general because i am a newb with final fantasy i am open to suggestions.
You can count me in, as i said i have already created a character and starting to work out the questions about the game I'll see you online, Name of my character is Tymoris

A friend is not him who provides support during your failures.A friend is the one that cheers you during your successes.

Well it is good to level both BLM and WHM at same time because it is a good compliment to each other when you get sub job.

When you get sub job at level 18 its nice to have your sub already at level 9 so you get the best possible stats for your player.Even better to have it at 10 or 11 so you have buffer room.

As to your blm job,are you a tarutaru?because really that is the only class that will benefit a mage the best.I guess when i see you in game ill know better than help you out on decision.

BTW you are on GARUDA server right?i left a world pass code i think in this thread.

He is on Garuda, and I went out for a short time hunting with him last night.  I don't fully understand the switching from one class to another.  I know about the subsclass change later on, but I don't know of the strategies for switching from say Whm to Blm at early levels (if that's even possible?).

I will do what is best to make my character the most effective, but I usually like to concentrate on one type of class.  I never played a BLM as from what I have seen they are a blast, so I would not mind switching to BLM as I level up, but my primary focus is for healing and support.

So last night I saw Wizardry and Sniperg both online at around the same time.  I hope that LIt4g0's play times will overlap with ours, because it sounded like he was on a lot earlier.

If there is anyone else reading this thread that is interested in joining the group, please let us know.  Wizardry, I can bother you with more questions in-game, or maybe you can send me an E-mail or something explaining a little bit about the switching btwn classes and how it benefits my character.  Thanks.

    Hi all,

I'm a bit late here with this reply, just recently saw this thread.

But I was wondering if there's still a spot left open in your guild.

I always wanted to try out FFXI, but since it's such a established game where most everyone is high lvled, It's just too hard to find people to play with, so I never try the game.

That's why I was happy when i found this thread and the best part is that it's a static party where we can also get to befriend one and another.

I'm in New York, which is EST zone and I can play almost any time during the weekends, but during the weekdays I have classes in the day, so I can play at nighttime, just as long as I get in advance of the time schedule.

    Please let me know, thanks

  • TymoraTymora Member UncommonPosts: 1,295

    Hi Rooibos,

You and I are in the same time zone (I'm from NY too!) and seem to have the same playtimes.  I think we have a spot or two open, but I am not sure.  Wizardry would know more.  So far we've got a few really nice people in the group.  It would be nice to have you join us.

  • solongwsolongw Member Posts: 5

    Hi there,

I would be interrested to join up your group, if there is still room. After reading the whole thread, I could say that my schedule would fit with everyone else (I'm located in Quebec, eastern time zone, so there shouldn't be problems there). I could play from 6:30 pm to "when I feel like sleeping". Of course, like most of you, there is school and work that might get in the way in day time.

As for my FFXI experience, unlike what you guys think, there is still some new players out there ! I started last month but I haven't been playing a lot, since the learning curve is somewhat harder than some other game (So, any direction could be appreciated, heh). The class I would play depend most likely upon what the guild would need. I played a Hume WHM to lvl 7 and i can say that I liked it so far, but i don't mind trying something else if you guys need it.

Well, I think that is all, so let me know soon if you could use another player

Hi.  It's good to see interested players looking for groups.  That's what will keep FFXI fun.  Once I am looking for random groups, waiting around to be picked up or sending tells trying to form a group, it gets frustrating.

Our static group is shaping up nicely.  As far as I can tell, we still may need some more players, but I'm not certain.  Wizardry will know more.  And for the class you play, at this point I recommend playing the class you enjoy most, because we have the core classes already covered.

I am playing the groups main healer, and I go by the name Ferndale in-game.  Add me to your friend list and I will be happy to group and help you as much as I can, although I am often asking Wizardry and other more experienced players a lot of questions myself.

  • WizardryWizardry Member LegendaryPosts: 19,332

Sure come on in,ill work something out.I need another warrior and maybe a blm.

    WP=8861017883

you will have to delete your player, then just type in code after you pick player name.A new box will open to pick GARUDA server. Then pick windhurst as your home city.I need you to get to level 11 as fast as you can,i will be on to help you if i can.

In game type /befriend Centurion. That way i will see when you are on.

    Hey Tymora and Wizardry

That's cool, I'm a Black mage, but I only got up to lvl 3 so far couldn't play much last nite.

I'll try to get more play in tonite.

So far the game is so fun.

Looking to playing with you all

    Thanks

    Okay, I made my character.

I'm a Hume Warrior, the name's Kilmore. I'll try to be on tonight from 9:30 to 12:00. I have a few question for this class before going on tho :

1st : Am i suposed to buy skills somewhere like mages are doing with their spell ?

2nd : I'm planning to do a spear-user warrior, to eventually become a Dragoon. So, could you tell me if this class is really as bad as everyone says ?

Hi guys.  Good to have you with us.  Please make sure you are all set to join us in-game, meaning that you must be on Garuda server!  So if you've made a character already and were not placed in Garuda, you will have to re-roll and type in the World Pass number that Wizardry posted.

I will be on at night to help you reach level 11.  I am a WHM so I can heal after combat to get you levelled up quickly.

Sorry, I can't help with your question about Dragoon.  Questions regarding classes and specifics are  best answered by Wizardry.

Get me on your friend list and send a /tell when you are playing.

  • RooibosRooibos Member Posts: 3

    Hey all,

I added Centurion, Kilmore and Ferndale to my friends.

My in-game name is Whitetea, so I'll see you guys in the game.

All I know about the warrior class is that it depends on the gear and weapons mainly, they get their skills from the weapon skills and the usage of tp for skillchains, which unlike us mages where we need the scrolls to obtain the spells.

  • WizardryWizardry Member LegendaryPosts: 19,332

Yes that would be the smart thing to do if you want to be a dragoon.Stick with spear all the way.If you look under skills then combat skills it shows a number for each combat skill. These skills have a certain limit depending on your level. The best scenario is to have your spear skill in blue ,wich means it has reached its maximum for that level.Party's level on IT[incredibly tough-IT++]mobs,so if your spear skill for example isnt high enough you will miss an aweful lot.

Slow weilding weapons wich are pretty much all the 2 handed weapons take longer to skill up.This doesn't mean however that you can't be maxxed out at every level. You will also find that fighting EVEN MATCH mobs or higher give more skillups than decent challenge or lower.

To answer your question ,is dragoon anygood?IMO all the jobs in the game are fun and challenging. Some people just have different tastes as to how they like to fight.Dragoons are just not picked up by roaming parties much because they don't really fill a specific need.An example of specific needs are healer/tank/nuker.Another example would be the use of a thief to put hate control onto a paladin.A dragoon just doesn't seem to fit any role.Doesn't mean they are not a good job, they still deal very good damage and can be a backup voker if war subbed,or can be used as a SATA setup with voke.

Hey guys, I'vr had the game for awhile now, but never really played becasue i coudln't stand the interface.  I heard using the controller is a much much better way.  IF you need one more person I would love to join and learn the ropes.  I could use a in deopth MMO for the fall and winter months.

Also I was going to be  RDM whcih I read you guys need.  IF it's possible could you leave me a WP and tomorrow I will go out and buy a Xbox360 COntroller to play this.

    Hi!

    I might be interested.

I am in same timezone as lith though, but I am very flexible with times seeing as I only study a few days a week, and when im not working as an actor or extra ( which happens like once a month ) I can play almost whenever.

    A  few notes though.

-What class do you need? I was kinda hoping to play a melee character though, monk or samurai.

-I dont wanna stay up late like I did when I played Star Wars Galaxies, Suppose I could play any time between 8 in the morning to 12 in the evening ( GMT +1 ) , 1h ahead of the brits.

    -What server were you on?

    - Im getting this game but Im not opening it before I find a static group, cause from what i've read this game is like DDO is now a journey of searching for groups.

Oh yea I'm also EST zone too.

  • TymoraTymora Member UncommonPosts: 1,295

With the added interest in FFXI, I am sorry to say that there are far too manay players here that will fit in the group!

However, that doesn't mean a second static group cannot be formed.  Wizardry and I spoke last night and it seems that we have our group pretty much squared away.  We're just waiting for everyone to get levelled up to 11 before we really group together to start going to good EXP and out subjob items.

I have spoken to some interested people who posted here and I am sorry if you don't get into Wizardry's group (please make sure with him, there actually may be an extra spot opening up).  If someone wants to take lead in forming another static group, then perhaps we can all combine under one Linkshell, and have two operating groups.  While mixing players between groups isn't something I would like to see too often, I suppose it can be done in a pinch, such as when a group doesn't have a healer or tank, and one of these players can fill in for the other group as long as their group isn't meeting that night.

Cooperation, cohesion, and knowing your fellow groupmates is important in FFXI, but not so much that it should take away from the fun of playing, and playing FFXI is the most fun when in a group, so I would absolutely fill in or help out anyone in need as long as I am not already in my group or have a prior committment.

I've posted this before talking to Wizardry about it, so the combined groups under one LS may or may not happen . . . just an idea.

Having a very hard time keeping players in the game.Seen quite a few just dissappear after a few days.If you two want to play your are welcome,i think i might have a spot or 2 because some players leave and some just can't make it on enough to play in a group.

If your a WOW fan, then this game will be just too time consuming and hard for you.I guess it wouldn't be feasable for you too waste your time if your used to playing a easier game like WOW.If you think you can make it out quite often and can play on EST hours then post today and will get another world pass.

You have to give this game time because the overall learning curve is hard until you have partied in a group for at least a week to see how the game works.Like any game it starts out kinda easy but can soon frustrate players through deaths and losing XP.Groups pretty much need the full 6 players to be effective ,so you can see why you need to be on a fair amount or else the chore of getting all 6 on at same time is near impossible.

Don't know if this thread is still open at all but I am very intersted in joining a static group of any kind. Recently returned to the game and love it apart from the ridiculous amounts of time you have to spend LFG. Just wondering what server this is being organised for and whether my interest is still appreciated.

Anyone getting back to me would be great.

    Thanks.

Trunk who was with me is from euro.He might be able to set something up with you guys.He is on Ragnarok server, but i think he has a level 30 there so not sure it would work out or not.Our core is pretty much est time,so being euro just wont work.sorry.

Hi dimension, that would be nice. Im currently on titan, but server really doesn't matter to me if we find some others in our time zone.

Thus, a sidenote: Im "kinda" just "kinda" a low lvl lol, I've gotten to lvl 10.Just dont get any groups in dunes, so im kinda stuck :)

Well currently I have a 26 BLM, 20 WHM and 10 WAR on Ramuh. So if you came over here I could start a brand new job with you. Then we maybe could start looking for others.  Just wondering aswell, what sort of times do the American statics play?
