"Aside from the non-fantasy, historical setting, quite a few other elements appear to be refreshingly different. The character system has no levels and thus no grouping restrictions based on them. There will be limitations affecting base attributes and skill mastery such that it will be impossible to create omnipotent avatars. The extensive crafting system will allow players to make almost anything, from simple tools to weapons, food, buildings and bridges. The gameplay will be freeform, largely putting control of your actions and destiny into your own hands. The developer's revenue model has no monthly fee and will make it possible for players who contribute positively to the game to play it for little or nothing."

Any chance of a link for starters.
Also is this a preview or a review?I remember ign putting some preview some time back way before even it was released and i am beginning to think this is actually a preview even before they had any gameplay because a lot of it uses the words "will" as in future tense.
However, since i have no links to this article i cannot judge one way or other and doubt anyone can .
So can we have a link please.
editted - ok folks i found this .And its the article since the quote is from it.It entitled roma victor first view.
It is indeed a preview dating feb 3 2005 and the link is as follows. It is even under the heading of preview for roma victor with the review section of the game blank.
http://rpgvault.ign.com/articles/584/584952p1.html
Also note they actually said in this old preview that .Ah heck i just quote it
"Although it's difficult to make an assessment without having played Roma Victor, it seems like a project that could have tremendous appeal for certain types of gamers. How broad its audience will be is uncertain."
So yes they haven't played it and just read up on it as most of us who bought the game did.So they are talking about the "on paper" version as of course they have not played it as stated.
Semp you are not the master of deception you are trying so hard to be.
Why do you want to rip people off so badly? You offer this PREVIEW as a rebuttal to the poor REVIEW that PC Zone gave RV. Nice try.
You sir are pathetic.

RV is the best mmorpg out there right now. The rest are crap for kids. Thanks for the bump pathetic jorev.
temper temper. You sounding desperate when you go into insults lol.
Well i dug up the article because it seems weird you would say there is a ign review and not link it and was even weirder when i read all the "will" in the text.
So what is making you so mad?The fact that i pulled out the whole article which was written 18 months ago as a PREVIEW and before the reviewer even had the chance to play it at all?
If you are so sure of RV been the best mmorpg out there i am sure some reputable site like ign or mmorpg.com will get to review it and give it good points to counter the horrible pc zone review.
But digging out 18 months old preview by someone who clearly states he has not even had the chance to play it, is not gonna improve the game ratings and look more like a desperate attempt to put some good marks behind the game.
I am sure you are doing the game lots of "good" by taking a chunk of a 18 months preview and not give a link and call it a review.
WTG, you done more damage then good because anyone sitting on fence over this game will see exactly what it was a poor attempt to give the game some credibility enlight of the almost non existant press it has gotten and the little it has gotten has been a total mess.
Just bumping up the post for you.I am sure at this point RB is probably asking you to please stop digging the grave deeper
You are just funny now and in bloodlust stage lol.
Lets see about your personal campaign.I will not even touch your previous attempts to sell this game despite its flaws and horrible launch.
Just the above post you made is a campaign to sell the game using deception. You cut and paste a section of a 18 month PREVIEW by someone who never played the game and then call it a review .Is that not a campaign of desperation and deception?
You got caught for trying to twist an old preview into your own making and changing it into a review .
Now you are just in a rage letting insults fly all over the place for been exposed. With every such post you make you are destroying hours of work kept in by RB's CSR.

It sounds like you guys are really working hard to make this game a success. The only problem is that it seems like your too small and dont have enough money to make it as quality as you would like it to be.
The majority of the problems your having now should of been gone before open beta.
But here you are working them out and asking money for the game. If your game ammounts to much in the long run Ill be surprised. Dont get me wrong, I wish the best for this game and followed it for quite some time. I mean who doesnt want to see incredible games come out. However I have yet to see a game make it to this stage in the situation your in and do well in the long run.
What I find interesting in all this is herc being so worked up about this when his post about a bad review contains no link to the actual review and comes from some mag in the neatherlands.
but, as Kanoth said, I think time will tell...there are some pretty highly rated games on here that started out with much lower ratings.
Be intresting to know how you want a link to a magazine printed on paper lol.
And you know this because it been stated before both here and by some dude on RV offical forum .
Also jorev gave this one from the pc zone uk magazine

I can understand your reservations given what we've all seen in the past. All I can tell you is we're not the type that give up easily. I think this is the most stubburn group of guys I've known. 9-5 means nothing to them, a work day is more like wake up, work, when 3AM rolls around think about going to sleep, pass out on keyboard.
We're obviously not in this for the money, if we were we would have got a publisher to give us millions of dollars, then would have been subject to their whims. We like being in control, and a rocky start just makes the end product that much more impressive.
Keep an eye on us, we're not going anywhere.

Neither of those games were founded on a "pay for advantages" revenue scheme which manipulates the game mechanics in order to support it's success.
RedBedlam has made it clear they won't abandon the Verm so RV will always suck regardless of any other improvements.

way to go on making a game that looks worst graphically than daoc was back in 2001. Come back when you actually have at least one real graphic artist working on your game

I have played it and I say it's one of the all-time worst MMOs that's ever been released. Maybe they will fix this game in time but for now it just stinks.
I'm not flaming you for liking this game but it is childish to post this old "preview" as a "review". If you do a google search for Roma Victor "reviews" you will see that no major gaming sites have even bothered with reviewing this game, and I'm sure RB wants to keep it that way.
I sleep with a pillow under my gun.
That's because they're waiting patiently for their press accounts. All except for PC Zone that is.
Not to worry, Google will soon return plenty of reviews.
Oh, and Jimmy, yes, I am a man, good guess. Though these days, it's tough to tell peoples sex via avitar names.

If I were you I would hold off on the press accounts for a while. I'm not trying to be crule but I don't think RV would fair too well in it's current state. I review games for a medium sized website (that shall remain nameless) and have reviewed several MMOs in the past few years. Believe me, RV would be doing good to pull a 3/10 from my personal experience with the game so far.
Sure we're not Gamespot or Gamespy but we get thousands of hits per day. Not that our little site would affect your game one way or the other, but the big boys lke Gamespot could make or break you.
So like I said, I would really think it over before sending out those press accounts.
If you do want our site to review your game send me a pm and I will hook you up, I'll even let someone else review it with no imput from me at all.
Why not let MMORPG.com be the first to review it?
I sleep with a pillow under my gun.
Just like anyone that orders an appraisal would clean their house, we'll make sure the game looks the way we want it before the reviews come through.
If you'd like to review RV you can contact our communications director Nick. I'll PM the address to you.

I dont think this is the type of game that is ever going to get more than a middling review form the average reviewer...RV requires more than the typical wham-bam level of attention that 90% of the game reviewers out there do. (not their fault, they got deadlines to meet).
