Ahh wierd post about naps and careers.

Theres few things better then a good nap. And there are ways to upgrade a nap so it can go from simply good to Sweet Perection. A Great nap for me is when i have my Better half there with me so i can cuddle up to her becuase i'm always so damn hot when i sleep and shes got that  cool girl feel to her (aka being all soft and such).

But my main problem is that every job i get seems to interfere with my nap times... I'm not a lazy guy but i do enjoy my naps.

Which brings me to my next question i have noticed that alot of MMorpg players are very successful at life and with there jobs and stuff, so i want to ask some advice. Right now i'm working at an Albertson's Warehouse making a Decent wage with (from what they tell me) Vast opportunities becuase everyone in Albertsons worked there way up the latter including the Ceo.... that is one opportunity for me but i want to get a college degree if only a basic one.

But i know this is a common problem but i don't have a clue what i want to do, For the longest time i was going to be a police officer but now i am shying away from that and wondering what kind of stuff is out there... i really don't know what i want to do or even what i am intrested in (which is wierd i think) and was just wondering if anyone has any advice.

Just ask yourself this.  Do you want to work your way up as a store manager or something similar and only make 35K a year working 60-70 hours a week, not having time for anything but work and sleep.  Or go to school, get a degree and get a normal 40 hour a week job making the same or more?  Also, sure say you work your way up the ladder and make a name for yourself in Albertsons.  What happens if Albertsons decides to downsize or sell their company to someone else.  You won't have anything to fall back on but grocery experience.  Then you may have to go somewhere else and start from the bottom again.  Sure school can be difficult, but it is better to have a degree to fall back on.

Well first let me say, I'm making 22k starting out at Alberstions and i believe if i work my way up to say Floor supivisior i will make around 40-50 though i'm not positive on this i just know the job i am working Tops out at 16.48 and thats only after 3 years and by that time you are already moving up.

But i agree with you i want a degree to fall back upon but my only problem is i have no clue what i want to do, and its not simple to pick what you want to go to college for i know i want to go but i don't have a damn clue what i want to go for, i'm leaning to something to do with computers but then again thats a huge field. So i'm to the point where i want to go but i'm boggled and stuck on what i want to go for.

You don't have to declare a major right away.  You can start and at least get your basics out of the way.  Most colleges offer career counseling and usually have you take a test to see what categories you may do well in.  Although these tests are not always accurate, it may point you in the right direction.  That pay seems pretty decent, but another way to look at it is this way.  Say you get the floor supervisor position.  When I was a manager I worked an average of 65 hours per week.  So take your salary.  $50,000 divided by 52 weeks/year divided by 65 hours/week = about $24.00/hour.  Not bad, but look at you finding a job hourly for say 20/hour.  20*160hours/month=3200/mo= 38,400/year.

say you work an average of 5 hours of overtime per week which would be an additional $7,200/yr

which would make your total annual pay 45,600, 4,400 less than that 50k salary.  But you would be working 20 hours less per week giving you an additional 1040 hours per year of extra timeimage

I'm a big against salaried positions lol!

You don't need to go to collage, but you MUST get a job skill. There are allot of ways to get a marketable job skill, collage is one of them assuming you avoid anything with "arts" in the name but it is not the only way.

Sometimes sticking around a company for awhile might mean getting new skills, training...ect.  Everyone starts and the bottom, don't be afraid of working hard to get a better position.

The job you hold belongs to company, not to you. They will take it back in a heart beat for any reason they see fit.

What you own is skill, it's extremely important for you to have a skill(s) you can resale to someone else, or put to work for yourself.

Generally speaking for those in teens or low twenties, that do not know what they want to do, I generally recommend the military. You'll get to see the world, get paid, get job skills and collage when your done. It's not a bad deal, and it'll come in handy should you ever choice to run for public office.

you a recuiter CG image.  Just saying anyone in their right mind would not join the military as of right now.  Even seasoned soldiers are turning down up to $30,000 reenlistment bonuses because they do not think that it is worth it at the moment.

Also I agree with you about having job skills, but that just won't cut it.  Take example for where I work (I work in ITS on a college campus).  There were 4 applicants for a hardware tech position.  Two of them were just completely unqualified for the job so their apps were overlooked.  The other a recent grad (with just an associate degree) and the other with about 5 years experience but no degree or certifications.  Guess which one was hired?  The one with the degree.  Now its good to have job skills and I think the guy with more experience would have got it if he was at least A+ certified, but employers tend to look at degrees or certifications.  So if you only have a job skill, at least try to find a certification in it.

And btw, I do agree with you on the military.  I was going to join the air force, but decided against it.  Now I know by going in the military you will more than likely see at least one war, but at the moment when you have a lunatic running the country fighting multiple wars that are led for personal reasons and at the same time destroying the economy, one tends to veer away from that career idea.
