Gameplay video?

Hey I'm really looking forward to the release of WAR, I've already seen all the cinematic trailers, but I was wondering if anyone could link me a video which shows how the gameplay is like/ how it is in this stage in development. I've heard many people comparing the UI and gameplay to other MMO's so I asume there is at least one video out there.

Thanks.

But remember, those videos are from alpha stage of game, many things will change before release.

    Very WoWish looking

But better.  If that is alpha then, yeah I'm impressed.

However, the UI is a bit too intrusive for my tastes.  We don't need all that crap at the bottom of our screen.

It's early version, in real game you will be able to reconfigure UI (probably we will see it in late beta August/September 2007, maybe earlier).

I know its hard not to compare the new mmo's with the largest mmo played, but saying this is like saying, well, its like saying that one console game looks like another console game. If a certain number of games come out in a ten year period, they will have similiarities. And rule one of buisness is always use what sells.

Well, I've seen gameplay vidoes of TcoS and AoC, and in those videos I didn't see anything that looked remotely like the Orc/Troll starting area in WoW.  However, in that WAR video, yes it looked very, very simular.

Even still, I think that it looks much better than WoW does and for a game in alpha phase, this is very very good looking.

Well, technically, Warhammer was around before WoW and it is easily argueable that they borrowed the ideas for their toons from the Warhammer models.

However, since they were in the MMO business first, I would've thought the WAR people would've tried extra hard to be more distinctive, even if they had to wander a little from the artwork of their models.

And after watching the video, I have to admit I was hoping for a bit more grit. True, it is in Alpha and it wasn't the clearest picture ever, but I was looking for .. well ... more gore. I guess WoW numbers are forcing all the developers to try and cover as large a subscription base as possible. And sadly, that means kiddies. Kiddies mean no gore and less grit. No gore and less grit means less WAR and more WoW.

I'm patiently waiting for some officially released vids of gameplay. But if I watch it and think of Wow, I'm not going to even bother.

At this point it does not really matter which one came first, the toons in both games are still very similar. So it remind alot of WoW. It will probably be completely different than WoW but for now it still look the same. I am talking about look, so do not start telling me about gameplay and PvP and I have not tried the game yet so i can not tell.......

But, if you look at a screenshot of WAR and screenshot of WoW, they aren't the same. WoW's work is really shoddy.

Sure, they both have Orcs but so does D&D, are you going to say D&D Online is a WoW clone too?

Besides, Orcs are monsters in WAR. In WoW they are green misunderstood humanoids with tusks. You can call a bag of used diapers 'roses' if you want, but to me it's still garbage.

The graphic style is similar , but the modeling and animation so far looks alot better.

    Good lord that changes nothing.

Stop stating such useless facts, when he simply said he didn't like the fact that they looked so similar, not the fact that "OMGzWarIZrippinoffWOW!!1!"

Where did I say that I didn't like the fact that they looked so simular?

In fact, I said it looks better than WoW does, especially for alpha.  I was just pointing out how simular they look.

    Sheesheles...

But thanks for defending me anyway

I understand both have the kind of cartoony feel, a good example is with Warhammer Dawn of War. They feel more like the models come to life rather then real people. True, the HUD does look the same, but the desgin and graphics look very different too me and I only stated that fact since as soon as Warhammer goes live thats all we wille here

Thanks a bunch for the replies guys, I'm seriously looking forward to this game! Looks like it's going to be just what I'm looking for in an MMO.

As for the WoW comparisons, please guys, the graphics worked on WoW. They weren't too "realistic" (cartoony) meaning Blizzard could concentrate more on making them look good rather than real, and it was a great idea. So why is it not a good thing to base WAR's graphics on that too? If it means it's going to be a better game because of it, and the same applies to game play, as long as they make it unique and expand on Blizzards ideas.

When I look for games I don't do the standard soon-to-be fanboy tactic and look for whats popular/going to be popular. I look for a game that is likely to suit my preferred gaming style, in my case it's open, large scale and non looting pvp which requires skill and combat awareness to be good at it. And from what I've seen and read it looks like WAR could be just what I've been searching for.

It looks like the Warhammer models, take a look for yourself. And what's it supposed to have instead of quest content? Hate to tell you but WoW wasn't the first game to have quests. The combate looks just like every other MMO out there and so does the UI. WoW didn't make this crap, the stole it off every MMO ever made before them and WAR is doing it too. Hell, you could say that they stole WAR quests, combate a UI off DAoC.

But thats ok I wasn't really looking to it as my next MMOG anyway. But rather Age of Conan, which actually is doing things differently for once.

where are all these wow clones, again?
    could you give examples? o.O

i have yet to see none.
sure WAR has exagratteration(spelling ftw..) of everything - and so do WoW - but does that mean the gameplay itself is the same?

... if you answered yes, you are VERY stupid.

I HOPE WAR will have similar animations or better ones than WoW. Simply because the animations of WoW were extremely pleasant and lifelike, even after they'd repeated themselves 5000 times. I also HOPE WAR's look will be as consistant as WoW's (without the silithid which really didn't fit in) apart from the weapon/armor clipping through people's heads.

Imo being compared to WoW in the graphics department isn't that horrible, since WoW had good graphical immersion. Now just because WAR looks a bit like WoW, doesn't automatically make it a WoW-clone, nor does it mean the people that think of WoW the first time they look at it are trying to insult anyone. People that call it a WoW-clone are most probably wrong, people that say it looks like WoW are not insulting(although they are inherently labelling the game).

And Distortion0, you really have to take a chill pill when it comes down to WoW. It's not the most horrible thing that's ever plagued the planet (I do not play it anymore because of lvl 60 grind & lack of content).

I too would like to know what WoW clones there are out there. I haven't seen any.

In anycase, WAR will not be a WoW clone (hopefully) because, from what they've said so far, the game play is quite differen't. Also they are putting a lot of thought into PvP (hopefully) unlike WoW which has never really made it a big deal.
