And I dont know if the gameplay is the same, I've not played it. I'm just judging that purely off the videos that I've seen that IMHO it looks a lot like WoW in it's combat. (Though frankly wows is little different from most other MMOGs.)

As to the WoW clones. I cant say of any I know of do to NDA's. But I'm beta-testing a few 2k7 games that are almost boarderline the exact same thing only with different settings. Give it a year, you'll see what I'm talking about. ;)

And for the record. I'm not bashing WoW. I play the damn game after all. I wouldn't call it the best MMOG I've ever played, far from it. But it's the best currently in my mind. Frankly I'd still be playing SWG if not for the NGE, but thats another story all together.

You're right, you're wrong. Don't judge the gameplay, yet you sort of did. Most mmo's have a "real-time" combat system with cast times and instacasts and the like on a action bar for your convenience. If WAR has this, is it a WOW clone? It's a clone of every other game with action bars and a "real-time" combat system, except it has a few more specialised bars (the morale bar) just like some other games might, but not WoW. The combat will allegedly have collision detection between characters, similar to some other games but not WoW. The game will have 6 races with unique classes, like some other game, but not WoW. WAR has a talent tree which will opt for 2 ways to specialise and a 3rd as a way to level up differently, perhaps like some other games but not WoW. There will be instanced and uninstanced pvp, both will have an impact on the game world, like some other games but not like WoW. There will be ways to make your character look "unique", like a lot of games but not WoW. There will be PvP and PvE, like WoW. It's an MMORPG like WoW. It has a "toylike" cartooney look, like WoW (or arguably WoW has such a look because of previous fantasy games such as Warhammer tabletop).

Just because you saw it and it reminded you of WoW, doesn't mean everything about it is WoW. The plague of these forums has been people coming here and claiming WAR will be a clone just due to what they've seen on a few alpha phase videos. Read up, or even better, play the game and then come and make allegations.

its like saying battlefield is a clone of CS(because both of them are FPS=First Person Shooters).

they have the NEEDED things, like the realtime combat, the looting(which some MMOs are missing though), costumization of the character in some way.
and ofcourse what makes half of us like games: the graphic.

this isnt really gameplay features, its NECESSARY features for every MMO out there.
nothing else is actually the same.

WoW just took the good parts (and many of the bad) of MMORPGs before it and condensed it all into one game.

Many people are saying WAR will be WoW done right.  I don't think there is anything wrong with that.
People are saying WAR will be "DAoC 2".  I pray it is.  This is the only way it will be able to upsure WoW.

But all will really know is WAR is it is a RvR-MMORPG based off of War Hammer and is being made by Mythic.

All we knew about WoW was it was PvE-MMORPG based off of "Warcraft" (Read: War Hammer) and was being made by blizz.

    So it comes down
Will Mythic make a better PvE MMORPG than Blizz?
Will Mythic make a better RvR MMORPG than Blizz?

    1. I have no idea
    2. Most likley.  WoW has crap for PvP and even stinkier crap for a realm vs realm system.

My guess would be most people on the forums here > 1 year before release.  Have played or are playing DAoC and know there amazing good RvR can make a game.

In WoW if you play allaince and hit cap lvl how many people care.  "Oh great another newb shaman to compete with for getting stops in raid groups."

In DAoC and I expect in WAR.  When you hit cap lvl your realm is glad because now they have another defender.  If the enemy starts raiding your captitol you have another cap lvl to help fight them off.  You raid to equip your realm not just yourself.  If you are stronger then 1 enemy it doesn't matter.  If you go into a PvP area alone you will get rolled in a 5:1 encounter.  Thus, you want your REALM to be stronger than the enemy.  It builds unity.  You want more cap lvls.  If you are the first person to hit cap and get the best gear in the game you  start helping people catch up.  Because being the "strongest" person in your realm doesn't mean a thing unless you have another 20 people to bring along with you to WAR!!.

12v12 pvp system are superfical.  Realm1vsRealm2 is real.  in 12v12 if realm1 has 50 cap lvls and realm2 only has 20, it doesn't matter it will still be 12v12.  In Real World PvP.  If it was 50:20 realm2 would likely get rolled.  Thus they head back to PvE areas to improved theirselves and help the rest of their realm cap out.  At the same time Realm1 is still PvPing, they are arealy winning why stop to go lvl newbies?  Thus next time a full battle occurs it is more like 60:45.  It eventually kinda balances out.  As the less populated realm needs to use tactics more effectively and the higher pop realm is just use to zerging and zerging is only useful when you vastly out number the enemy.  Otherwise your unfocused attack will  allow a more organized enemy to knock you down.
