Anyways, instead of arguing over females in races, wouldn't gender specific classes be more of an issue? I think male DE Witch elves would be kinda creepy...
I figured I'd throw this in, are the humans going to include Bretonnia or is it strictly empire?
I think for classes like Witch elves, and Assassins they should stick to lore (witches are female, Assassins are males kidnapped and raised by the witches). But there is going to be some nudging of things in the Empire for instance, as model wise I don't think there are any females in the stock Imperial units. Unlike the Elves (Dark, High and Wood)where there main units are a mix of male/female. Mythic are going to have to tread a fine line between lore and providing customization.

I think it would offend more people to not have female characters in the Empire and male Witches and Assasians in the Elves then it would to break the lore a little bit. Then again, the Elves are a way's off still and I think we can all agree that's it's pretty sure there won't be gender-class descrimination in Empire and Chaos.
What does the Warhammer Roleplay say about this stuff(since it's WAR predicesor into this territory)?

It might offend some people but this is Warhammer online, a game based around warhammer, so it would only make sense to stick to the lore as much as possible. It's ok the change things like 1 hit kills that work for the table top because it wouldn't work for this game. But if someones going to get bitchy over something as small as no female assassins or no male witches (which doesnt only go against the lore but in my opinion would be kinda weird and disturbing in general) they should just go to another game. Its not like anyways going to be forced to play this game, and warhammer has been doing just fine for the past few decades without changing up its lore. I don't see a need to start doing that now with small things like this.
In order to make a fun game and instill the sense of freedom and customization people have come to expect from MMORPGs.
You were right when you said its a game BASED on Warhammer. Meaning, it's based on the universe. It isn't the Tabletop. It isn't the RP. Small changes that affect game mechanics positively are just as necessary as the larger game-breaking issues such as one-hit kills. Personally, I think male and female specific classes FOR DARKELVES are fine. Don't really care either way. But lore comes second to game mechanics, and I don't care what opinion you have about that statement, it's true.

You are aware that GW is Insanely protective of its IP. Besides have you ever seen what Witch Elves WEAR, seeing a guy in what amounts to studded underwear is just going to freak people out.
But as said the only race where gender specific classes would be a real problem would be Dark Elves, and this is assuming they put Assassins in (I'm guessing Witch Elves are in due to the scene in the promo video). High Elves are into equality, Empirial forces don't have any classes that would be gender specific, Chaos...well who can tell under the armour and mutations, Dwarves, again, who can tell Under the armour and finally Orcs have the goblin classes as their 'females'

What does the Warhammer Roleplay say about this stuff(since it's WAR predicesor into this territory)?
The Warhammer Roleplay has never had in depth rules for dark elves or even chaos as they tend to be the antagonists there. Not even High nor wood elves have been, so far, described much. A sourcebook about elves and one about warlocks should be coming out soon, but until then, the argument has never been rised as the Warhammer RPG has the focus on the Empire mainly.
About the Empire, though, the RPG says the usual: historically the women should not have malish careers, but as this is the 21st century and sexism is bad, you can forget this in your games.
Recently GW tried to correct the male-oriented focus of most of their tabletop games with things like the Adeptus Sororita and the Sisters of Sigmar. (and the Cover of the RPG has a fighting woman right there, next to the slayer dwarf)
Still ,beside these latest attempt, there is nothing female specific in the empire and all imperial fighting models have been males since time immemorable. Dwarves are the same, elves instead have always had both genders represented in their models, for some units, especially the basic spearmen/bowmen. (exceptions are made for the priestly and wizardly orders that have always been mixed, with women preferring Jade magic for example and certain religious orders being female-centric)
The idea of the Female Witch Elf is also very male-oriented, skimpy outfit and all, but yes, the idea of a "male" witch elf seems pretty odd... Much odder than a male Dark Elf Sorcerer.

I see it as a non-issue. If not being able to create a Orc female keeps anyone away from the game... They likely wouldn't have enjoyed the game anyway.
QFT. This is one game where LORE is actually pretty well established and the game shouldn't try to reinvent that lore.

Witches are the Chosen Brides of Khaine (a decidedly MALE aspect of Murder...he has about 1000 avatars but the murder thing is his main biz)....therefore...his Brides are FEMALE. As an adjunct to the Church of Khaine certain male DE children are taken from families (rather, the families are slaughtered on the holiday known as Death Night, where the witches run rampant thru the cities if the DE's killing almost everything they find) and trained in the fine art of assassination. BTW...these male children are put into the Cauldron of Blood for a full night...if they survive then they are trained asssassins. There's your lore....or you can read page 11 of the Dark Elf Codex /cheers
Just to add another little nail to those wanting equality, Mythic already have sex specific classes in DAoC. So with GW being protective of their lore, and Mythic not afraid to do it, I see it happening if witche/asassins make it in.
Any warhammer player knows that greenskins are too busy fighting all the time to get a piece, so I'm personally glad they are not violating that piece of warhammer.
