Mythica is gone

I know most of you know this, since it was announced a couple of weeks ago, but the cold hard reality is just now hitting me.  Mythica is GONE!  It ain't going to happen.  While I didn't plan to play the game, I am saddened that someone's dream project has fallen.  That's never a good thing.

I also realize that with the more promising games soon to release this year (I say soon, but really summer and fall), lots of game are going to go "bye, bye".

I think it's a mixed bane/boon that Mythica is gone. On the one hand, yes it is sad to see any gaming project die...but on the other hand, if you believe the market is in or headed to saturation, then you might welcome thinning the field of derivative projects.

Microsoft is usually a very paused player in any competition.

 

Mythica is gone, but the work they did on it is not and Microsoft is certainly not about abandonning the MMORPG market.  We will most likely see Mythica work in the next MMORPG they announced...and they may very well announce it only when it is ready for beta!

They say it's better for a Athlete to die young and undefeated. Well, at least from a memory perspective. Allot of people are remembered because they died young, not because they did anything all that great, they started down the road greatness, and it ended before they ever got sight of the goal. There image grows larger than there life.

Much is the same with Mythica. It was a game, it wasn't up to level of current MMORPG's standards so it was canned like day old tuna. This is not a lose to anyone, had the game be released this forum would have been a flood of "Mythica sucks" type posts.

MS did the world a favor by ridding it of "just another MMORPG".

Now how about that sigil games? (also funded by MS)

Mythica gone....not sad at all, its only sad when an innovative and original game dies, I say let all these cookie cutter crap games die, it'll do everyone a favor.

naw, i was actually looking forward to it for 1 reason: no fighting rats/bats/soggy zombies when you start a new character, you start right off with the big stuff. and the fighting looked somewhat reflexful... but we shall never know...
