Let's see. During their launch, they ran this contest to attract players' money by promising a really cool Alienware computer. After everyone went through all the tiresome steps and jumped through all the hoops, the Irth devs made some lame excuse about how the rules don't allow them to award the grand prize Alienware computer. But they sure didn't mind all the publicity and money they received.
During open Beta, the game was so full of bugs that it was barely playable. But the Irth devs kept the Beta testers from abandoning the game by promising that the game will never be released "half-arsed". Then they went ahead and released it anyways, still full of unfixed bugs.
When loyal fans, who stuck it out during the painful Beta, pleaded with the Irth devs to fix the bugs before releasing it, the Irth devs banned them from the Irth forums.
The Irth devs have given up even trying to fix the thousands of bugs, but they are still happily accepting money from players.
Although probably not relevant to a player's experience with this game, some insight into the level of sleaze of the Irth devs can be seen by how they treated their partners and employees if you read ganked.com and the Irth dev's rebuttal in gankedlies.com.
But if you're still curious about the game despite the Irth devs' past scams, their free trial is still available. But be careful. You can't be too sure what can happen with the download. Good luck.
All instanced games as they're not MMOG's at all. And the game (can't remember name) that offered a $1 million cash prize and then didn't.
As for Roma Victor, I'd say they're one of the most open and honest devs out there and I've not seen any complaints from people requesting refunds in fact RV has been praised for excellent customer service from a number of people that asked for refunds.

I remember that. What was the reason they gave for not awarding it? (besides it probably not existing) I didn't realise Irth also had a give away scam. What was did they tell people happened?

Yeah I almost forgot about that one. That was really "shifty" . Every state in the US has laws that govern giveaway sweepstakes and contest type promotions. Wonder how they were never charged with fraud on that one.

They called it off because (according to them) rampant cheating which was unfairly shafting legit players. Which is total BS because 1.) 1M bucks up for grabs in an MMOG, cheaters will come? No shit sherlock and 2.) well what about all the LEGIT players that RYL shafted by making them waste time and money on a vapor tournament.
iirc the tournament was cancelled halfway thru, which was what pissed off people more than anything else. It was like ONE MEE-LEE-YON DALLARS GO FOR IT~! . . . . ok nvm kthnxbye

Kinda like what Thrones of Chaos Age of mourning etc. is trying to pull only without the web game.
Oh hell yes. LMAO! That is still the biggest scam I have ever seen to date. Next to Mourning(aka RoT - Realms of Torment). Mourning has changed names so often you'd think it was under the witness protection program.
