Here's the scenario...
You're immortal. The reason you are immortal is unimportant. Just know that you're immortal. Now... You've just been kidnapped by a crazy guy serial freak dude. Like one of those really strange ones from the X-Files. And he likes nothing more than to kidnap people and disassemble them, body part by body part. He takes out your organs, your brain, your eyes, your ears, your tongue, your heart, your liver, your kneecap, your toenails, etc., etc., etc. And then he lays them all out on a table.
Now, remember that you're immortal. So, where is your soul. Or really, where is your consciousness. Where are you at in that pile thinking, "Oh crap, now what do I do"?

Interesting scenario
The answer depends on if you're male or not
No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.
Hemingway
It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.
Your soul, (your being or ultimate existance) resides on multiple dimensional planes. It is simply linked to this dimension through the specific organ, the brain. Which allows us to control a bio-machine in a dimension where only the coporeal can exist. Thus the body is the only way we can experience corporeal form. Destroy the brain, and we can no longer control the bio-machine, and loose our connection to this dimension.
See? Simple :-)
Now that I'm in supernatural ghost form (my soul is in the air, somewhere),I scare the shit out of him so he run into his own demise. (passing car,a tumble, sharp objects...)
Or just Japanese horror style,I scare the life out of him and he ends up an acid-ridden face corpse for the local coroner to look at. Either way,he's getting spooked and/or killed.
I believe the soul exist in our body somewhere, and when we die our soul acts ghost-style from our deceased body; we'd see things like we were human but we're a floating astral/invisible body shape or something. Then something happens involving a God or Creator of some sort.

I was going to say something similar Aelfinn.
I have heard stories of people who receive an organ from a donor and then feel like they have a new personality, or start to remember things that happened to that person that they have never met.
Another thing to consider. If you disconnect the digestive tract from the central nervous system it will still function. The digestive system and the brain are the only two places where a chemical called seratonin exist in your body. It's the chemical that allows the synapses in your brain to fire. I have read that the digestive tract has all the makings of it's own brain system and if the brain dies and the body is still kept alive the digestive organs will function perfectly.

I love MMorpgs..
I wondered about that when I thought about when people get decapitated. I wonder if for a little while they are there still alive, looking out and seeing the world waiting to go unconscious and die.

Also, no matter how an accident or disease affects the body to cause death, ultimately death happens when the brain stops getting oxygen via the blood. Death doesn't occur instantly like it does in movies, even when decapitated, the brain can survive in a somewhat conscious state for up to 3 minutes before actual death. Assuming the trauma doesn't cause one to pass out of course.

OMG!!! 3 minutes!?!?! Eeeeek!!! I'm scared.

More than likely if you are decapitated it would destroy your central nevous system, so you probably wouldn't feel pain for those 3 minutes.
Even if you could feel pain, it would only be in the neck area
as there isn't any nerve sensors left to give you the sensation of pain anywhere else.

It would be an interesting way to die... Makes you think...
yes....we do.
98% of the teenage population does or has tried smoking pot. If you''re one of the 2% who hasn''t, copy & paste this in your signature.
If you mean consciousness? That would be mostly in your brain, but if you had immortality... the other parts of your body would be wiggling around too. Also some consciousness may be in the rest of your nervous system...
Now Soul? I don't know. That term is very subjective to me, soul could mean/be a number of things...
