There are NO tactics in the NGE, everyone is the same. The combat is 1 (one)
action at a time, specials are shallow + or - , nothing more.
The queue was much better in planning and engaging in combat.
    Did
you even play PRE-CU? Or is the DKIU style the only type of combat you have
    played with?
Not trying to flame here, but your responses lead me to believe
you never played PRE-CU, and eq combat clones are all you have seen. Anyone who
played PRE-CU, and knows the skills and combat system available at the time
would not be making statements as you are now.
Also, mind shot.... The lamest skill ever... If that’s the best downside you
can come up with then. wow, just wow.
All they had to do was replace that skill, or give people a way to heal mind...
OR fix the gaping whole in helmets that allowed the player to be shot directly
    in the eye ignoring armor...
Seems like that would have been better than removing the mind bar, and
everything attached to it.ok, i guess i wont just leave it as that lol.whatever.

Narrow definition? I guess I could call black white, but it would still really be black wouldn't it? Planning combat? I prefer something more fluid and where I actually have to react to my attacker as well as plan attacks. Spamming up the same old list everytime was really rather boring.

Yep, I have played all 3 flavors of the game. EQ 2 combat is about as fun as watching paint dry. And just to be clear I rarely engage in combat in the NGE. I don't like the combat system and use it on a have to basis only. I find my fun in other aspects of the game currently. I did however have alot of fun with the CU combat as well as pre-cu, however I never found anything aweing about it tactically. There is no difference between queuing up 10 attacks and "adjusting" them and just waiting for each one to come around and push the button when it's time, atleast then its ALITTLE like a act and react situation instead of a massive spam attack.

And yes they could have given a mind heal but they didn't. And that was just an example. And none-the-less that is how alot of people played.

Great work Shae!  5 stars and a cookie.

OK jr, the whole icons thing is really thin. And people could still make their own buttons with macro's of all the specials. If you are THAT colorblind and can't tell the difference of button graphics how do you manage in the rest of the MMO?

And honestly, how long do you use the buttons to refer to what the function is? It takes me about an hour and then I have my buttons memorized and my hand just goes there. You don't like sit and use the mouse and click each button all the time do ya?

I know it was just a jest but that whole icon arguement drove me up a wall with the CU. I hated the old buttons, I felt like I was looking at street and restroom signs. They weren't even "star warsy".

Yup... we're thinking of lining there's with puppy fur.

As for this special edition. I believe we're using fox, dyed and imbued to look like Wookie hair, just to add that extra little Umph.

Speaking as someone that is colorblind, I didn't have a problem with the icons.  It was the damn colorcoding of the level of mobs that caused me some slight problems.

It is very difficult for me to tell the difference between purple (instant death with the extremely idiotic damage mitigation based on levels) and blue (easy kill with the extremely idiotic damage mitigation based on levels).  That being said, it was very easy for me to adjust, since the level was placed in that little color dot and I could read if it was CL 84 or CL 1284 (I did see one that high, funny story in that too).

I too thought the old buttons were at best boring.  But in all honesty the new ones really do belong to WoW and EQ II, not Star Wars.

This issue was not important to me, but it was to a few friends.  A little flexibility on SOE's part by allowing us a choice of button styles would not have been too much to ask.

I realize I said I quit. I never said it was forever :)

    Clothes

(has up to 2 stats bioengineered into them with up to 4 sockets per peice(for clothing attachments)

    Buffs

(took to extreme and made my own doc so I could make uber buffs and used a +200 med town)

    stims

    (used best to make best)

    armor

(suit best suited for enemy PVP or PVE some creature specific IE MY GDK hunting suit had +25 def vs deseise)

(lowest encumberance possible with highest resist possible)

    Weapon

(Use best type damage per enemys resistance)

(as Pistoleer I carried 7 Types)

    foods

(to numberous to name a food for every use but each caused you to get full so had to balance)

    drinks

    (same as with food)

    spices

(not hard all same quality one per stat could one for 15 min till you puked and turned weak)

    dots

(Had to manage applying with pistoleer specials and make sure reapplied)

(had to manage dots on you)

    States

(applying states like blind to lower accuracy differed per class)

Skill Attachments (pistoleer ones I remember)

(needed +25 cap your skill very rare and expensive big trick was using them so they wouldnt decay)

    dodge

    pistol accuracy

    pistol accurracy while moving

    pistol accurracy with standing

    def vs knockdown

    def vs dizzy

    def vs desiese

    ranged def

    melee def

    def vs blind

    Pets

(could have one out some would attack or apply states)

    Droids

(could have one out Could attack or heal or give boost to healing for docs)

    Weapon PUP

    thats all I remember anyway

But do remember each item could go from junk to uber (everyone) and it was the accusition of these that set others apart ..had to know a good weaponsmith... doc ...armorsmith...chef ...tailor...

You needed a crafter with uber resources(not easy to do) class specific knowledge, in a bonus town crafting on a perfect station, eating right foods and has luck

I had built personal relationships with my crafters suppling loot for best weapons/armors made... I also was a hella looter and looted em stuff they needed (so we partnered basically to help uber each other), so they came to love me. As I did them they taught me all about crafting.

other stuff I just tried to get best I could

power of my gun determined power of my skill dots along with accuracy vs enemy alot of food would

Also knowing your template vs enemies  both PvP and PvE

Some MOBS might run up and whip out a uber stun weapon on yo ass actually I always had a blast PvE, Many narrow escapes and not so narrow(cloner) but alot were stories worth sharing but was always unpredictable and alotta fun been totally gone since CU.

By that I mean the whole experience is not even close by any means

I like the new ones, I think they are done alot better then the original. I don't get why abstract style art like that has to be attached to fantasy. I collected Star Wars comic books up til RotJ, they were plenty Star Warsy.
