Hey I'm looking for a new MMORPG to play, (I got sick of Dark Ages (not DAOC)) and I'm out for something new. You guys are mostly DAOC fans, so please let me know, really, should I get this game? And why?
Things that are important to me.
1. Game Play (not confusing as hell)
2. Socioty (don't want to deal with jerks)
3. Graphics (don't have to be the best)
4. Customer service (do I really need to say anymore?)
Thanks.

Im finiding that a lot of people are completel jerks reguardless of the server.. PvP no chance inhell of finding more than like 50 nice people
this was my first mmo and it was awesome and it stilll is except the jerks customer service no probs there
graphics are decent once u get SI and ToA
all in all great game not too many complaints
ME
This isnt just your everyday darkness, this is .......... ADVANCED DARKNESS
Well,DAoCs gameplay really isnt too confusing, just make sure u have a map printed or buy 1,b/c the biggest problem with this game is,no in game map Its hard as hell to find your way around, unless you have 5 silver to rent a horse thatll take you from place to place.Or u can use the auto run button, and follow the roads, but dont plan a journey too long. You should stop and take breaks at towns when its night, you can barley see.
Well, actually i heard a bunch of bad things about DAoC society, but i found the majority of them quite nice(normal server). You will start off in a Newbie Guild with ppl who range from about 1-38(how ever long u wish to stay in for). They helpd me a bunch!Random people are always travleing by casting spells upon you to heal you, give you better def/att ect.
Graphics are well enough to provide your needs, and can be tweakd depending on your PC/ISP.
They patch the game alot, and there site has alot of choices to solve problems and ect. There about to release another expansion FREE!!

Let me see....
As far as confusing, I jumped into the game a couple weeks ago and felt at home within a day or so. Game play is pretty simple, several camera options (including first person ). Standard quick-bar arrangement with a seperate hud element containing buttons for menial tasks such as releasing your corpse after death, logging out, etc.
Society...hmm...ya know, everyone I've met on Merlin has been cool. Less butt-heads than in any other gave I've played, in fact. Been grouping a LOT, and have really had no bad experiences.
Graphics...hmm. With a good system, and BOTH expansion packs (just buy the gold edition of the game and ToA...get everything you need including maps)...teh graphics are GREAT. IN fact, in most cases you can compare the graphics with newer games, and some not even out yet. I'm constantly enjoying the environmental effects, especially the water. It's one of the things that makes this game so great...you can just relax in beautiful surroundings and hunt.
Customer service......still havn't needed them. Have yet to find a bug, or have any problems at all.
Which reminds me of another thing....performance and lag. So far no bugs, no lag, and VERY little slowdown in especially crouded areas, and only for a second or two. It's REALLY nice to play a game this stable, fun and good-looking.
Hope ya try it out....I think you'll be more than satisfied

Thanks guys, and gals. I'll have to try it out now. (Gotta wait till the next pay check). I'll keep an eye out for anyone I meet here.
Oh yeah, one more thing and kinda off the topic, but reply if you feel like it. Here's a new idea I think would be interesting. (I didn't say fun.)
What if people had to carry around food and supplies when they go adventuring? You know, as your character gets hungry you loose atack power or whatever, until you eat a snack or meal?
2. Socioty (don't want to deal with jerks)
If this is your goal then I'd suggest a very nice selection of single players games. One of the risks we take each day stepping outside our homes in confronting a jerk. It's the same in a game as it is everywhere else.
DAoC has a exactly the same percentage of jerks and every other area of life.

Make no mistake, MMORPG's are not games, they are hobbies.

Achievers realise that killers as a concept are necessary in order to make achievement meaningful and worthwhile (there being no way to "lose" the game if any fool can "win" just by plodding slowly unchallenged). -bartle

Oh yea,1 more thing about this game,is once you get level 5+,its hard as hell to level,no joke!Theres the 10 bubbles and a con system, which makes the game hard, but also makes u think during your hunting sessions.

Then I think DAOC is the game for you. While I have quit it many times before, I always return to its innovative and fresh game play. Game play that's as "fresh as a country lane!" (Sorry, Massengill, had to steal that line).
DAOC has by far (in my opinion) the best weapon and armor graphics of any MMORPG, and that is alone a good reason to approach it to take a closer look.
The skill and magic systems are simple and not frustrating. Levelling can be a chore, but hey, it's the journey not the endgame that most of us are really here to enjoy. Why race it?
There is some P vs P, but it is largely avoidable and not too bad if you try it out. Questing system is good and mostly doable solo. The NPC's won't bother you much. Monsters don't run away when they fight, which is good. You don't have to worry about them traipsing off and coming back with friends.
As far as "society" goes, I've yet to meet a jerk in DAOC. This may be mostly to it being impossible to pull a "train" on someone. Once you aggro something, it pretty much pays attention only to you and your group. People are generally somewhat friendly, but it's not the carebear chatroom you'll see in games like EQ. Mostly this is because the game has little downtime and people busy levelling are madly hitting action keys with little time for chat.
Customer service is not bad and cannot be expected to be anything but what it is. At $12.95 per month, can we really expect Customer Service time? That's 30 cents a day, right?
DAOC is a decent clean game to get into until better stuff releases late this year. I'm playing it and quite proud that I do.
