/Golf Clap WTG SOE!!!
SOE apologies and admissions of mistakes as always happen long after the fact and are just words mouthed. They never mean it. The only time SOE undoing a mistake and admitting fault was ever done in a timely manner was the infamous CU era XP nerf day.
Of course the cynical bastards by then had to know that it was going to be put in again 2 months later with the NGE.

Hello, my name is Kenshu Ani, and I'm a cynical bastard.
I'm fairly certain that I posted that theory in the developer discussion forum at the time, but that thread was deleted a long time ago, I think. At least, I can't find any of those posts in that thread when I look through my post history.
It just stunk of something that they were trying to sneak in. They put in the "flyover text" that gave the wrong xp and didn't state anything about changing the xp in the notes. It just seemed to me that they were hoping we weren't smart enough to go into our skill boxes and use math to figure out how much xp we were actually getting.
Edit: I had to change the phrase from "I just stunk" to "It just stunk"
Just to be clear, some of us earn Colonel well before JTL was even announced, and back then it was NOT a cakewalk... When the CU hit I had a Col & a Sgt. When the NGE hit I had a Col & a Lt Col. When I left I had 3 Colonels... it did become a joke to get, but it was once a badge of pride, and a huge investment in time...
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!
Once again they took away something I worked for in the old system.
Wonder why they fail so much, and keep losing players?
Maybe they should stop watering down and removing player accomplishments? You know, the fun kinda is taken away when what you work for, what you play for, what youdo, is taken away from you all the time.

Not to mention before the first GCW update when you had to deal with Tef ganks.

The good ol' days in Kor Vella or Anchorhead. How many times was I ganked running missions out of AH?
I remember two Imps ganking me as I returned to get more missions, then standing over me gloating over how they pwn'd me. Some nice dancer just came out of the cantina and says, "Dude! It's not cool to say you pwn'd somebody when you outnumbered them! Losers!" At that point the children reverted to much profanity and she just LOL'd at them. /sigh memories
Now if I was still playing that character (or playing at all) and had my rank stripped, I'd feel as if this memory was somewhat tarnished as well. It's not all about the trinkets...it's the stained memories that hurt the most.
I realize I said I quit. I never said it was forever
Oh how many times did I just hang out in GAT City buffed up and loaded for bear, waiting for some dirty faction-grinding Reb to visit the base on the south side of town and attack our friendly neighborhood Stormies?
