We did a lot of digging and are now convinced that Thrones of Chaos deserves to be judged on its own merits. This game, built off the title once known as Mourning, is being developed by Lound Ant Software in Portland, OR. We interviewed CEO Colton Burgess and others to cut through all the drama and confusion of this chequered game.
After extensive interviews and research, MMORPG.com is pleased to add Thrones of Chaos to our game list. This title, being built off the game once known as Mourning, is being developed by Portland, OR based Loud Ant Software LLC and promises a hardcore PvP experience in a fantasy setting.
The original Mourning project had been delisted by MMORPG.com in a famous incident involving developer abuse of our staff, among other things. Later, they attempted to launch the game in an almost unplayable state after a pre-order debacle. Since then, the game was sold, but due to confusion involving a partner company called Nuanced Entertainment, we once again removed the game from our list until we could confirm that it was indeed in fresh hands and a legitimate title.
Before returning it to the list, we spoke to Loud Ant CEO Colton Burgress, the CEO of Nuanced Entertainment Adam McCall and the original Producer of Mourning Andrei Gireada. The game's original owner refused to be interviewed for this piece. The three men clarified their roles, some of the history and confirmed that the project had indeed completely changed hands. |

While I completely respect and admire mmorpg.com for going through the paces and doing their best to confirm this company, in all honesty... What the heck are you thinking?
I know it's not your jobs to be biased but these people ripped off, lied, fooled, bamboozooled and cadoozooled (I know, not a word but still...) lots of people, parts of your own community. At best I thought you'd wait until it was released and proven to be a solid, actual game.
I know, I know... this isn't my site and I'm just a nobody here and I'm probably way off here but it just feels so... I don't know, icky .

You are wrong about that. "These people" did not do any of that. As explained in the article (did you even read it?) it's a completely different group of people. The product was sold. Accusing them of any of the prior incidents is unfair and incorrect. I feel bad for them, because they really are fighting an uphill battle against people's (like you) misconceptions. The game itself had a lot of potential. I hope that with some fresh marketing and the free trials they are offering, it will finally become the game it could be.

There's really no need to be rude about it, is there? I didn't say this new company was the same as the old one and I don't want to throw this right back in your face but did you read the article? Former employee's are working for Loud Ant, whatever they are just consulting is besides the fact.
My only point was that it seems to me that despite the history of people being taken in by this particular title, it's back. What I was trying to get at was that it might have been better for the community to return the title when it's been released and proven to be legit, why take the chance a second time when so many were hurt the first go around?
That's all I meant, did not mean to offend you or anyone else with my comment, at all.

I wasn't around MMORPG.com back then, so I guess I missed this. What happened? Can anyone provide some insight/linkage? I loves me some good (or even icky--*especially* icky ) drama. Thanks in advance!
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
Everyone working on the game is in the US.
We had to use the Romanians for a few months to sort out all the existing files and figure out how some of the tools worked.
Is Andre the same bloke as Egomonster? Wasn't he and the publisher, Dave, the central abusers during that whole mmorpg.com incident and the main reason you guys pulled the game? Oh, I don't even remember... I have the memory of a fruit fly. Anyway, what's the difference? Hopefully it'll go better this time around and they'll find a new audience or, at least, a more forgiving one. All those other people who stopped caring about the game when it assploded, are likely to continue not to care about it's latest incarnation. Whether the game fails or not probably shouldn't be decided on MMORPG.com or any other board. Unfortunately for Loud Ant, Mourning's reputation seems to still hound them wherever they're discussed.
Edit: Oh well, there you go. Loud Ant fixed my post before I even finished it! Egomonster is a nonentity now. That should relieve quite a few people! I take it that Dave, the mean publisher guy has also disaPOOFed!

So in other words. Nobody who now is in the team was involved with the crap that happened around mourning back then?
Besides that goodluck. But i hope you do understand that you and the rest of them team have to gain trust back from the community.
I mean it's not like this guys work out of some Portland ghetto and have a website full of broken spyware links....Hmm....wait a sec

Completely understandable Shae...but I feel ok in informing people about the game being it is a entirely new team and they have assured us that a) they will not take any pre-orders for the game and b) they are going to take care of the Mourning subscribers that got mistreated.
Now as long as they don't accept pre-orders I don't see how anyone could be harmed before the launch of the game. As a site dedicated to reporting MMORPG news we just feel it is our duty to report on this title as it evolves - otherwise we would not be doing our jobs
In the event that LoudAnt were to back out on their work (ie start taking pre-orders) we would probably warn our readers and possibly remove the game again as much of the reason for the re-listing was based on all these facts.
As I see it if LoudAnt pulls this off and releases a good, playable product and the old subscribers get some compensation - there might actually be a silver lining to this horrible storm system after all

Interviews are done at the empty lot behind our Condo at midnight!"
In all fairness I would assume that many of the games that have been on our list were ran from home businesses or tiny offices with only a few people. I don't think that makes someone dishonest or means they will not do their best to get a quality product out the door. As long as a game meets our requirements we list it - even if it does not look to be from a multi million dollar company. The only issue here was "is the old team still in control of this game?" and after a much research we are confident they are not.
