I absolutely agree. I read the new talents/spells and the only thing I can say about them is that it will be the single worst mistake Blizzard has ever made. The classes who desperately needed help got the shaft once again, and those who were already too powerful got even moreso. If they ever get around to even attempting to fix this mistake, I imagine it will be a failed effort and they will simply turn the tables on who is gimped and who is awesome, as they have done repeatedly in the past.

Again, this is Blizzard's way of taking someone else's brilliant ideas, adding it to the game with a little polish, and pretending it's all fresh and new. The few mods they CAN'T add to the game will be rendered useless. Modding was one of the few aspects that I really liked about this game, and I wrote them as often as possible. I hope that other games will utilize this feature in upcoming releases.
Adding two "new" races, 10 levels, and a couple of zones and then trying to call it an "Expansion" is a joke. Where are these supposed "Hero Classes" that have been in the works since the beginning of the game? Where are these "Siege" mechanics that were supposed to be added to Battlegrounds many months ago? They added Jewelcrafting, but we all know what it is... just another way to get "hawt lewt" through ridiculous grinds and overpriced materials.
I'd also like to point out that while WoW continuously reports that they have over 7 million accounts, most of them are from China. I'd be surprised if the total number of WESTERN accounts was more than 1 million.

God you do sound pretty stupid sad to say.
First your statement sounds as daft as telling the chaps who made the first desktop computers that they should have stuck to making calculators.
EQ1 pioneered mmorpg along with games like UO.EQ1 remained king of mmorpg in the western world for over 5 years while WoW has done what 2 years?
WoW developers never hide the fact that they used already establish gameplay and features from other mmorpg .Most notable a SoE game-EQ1.The level system, quest system, raiding is all right from the EQ1 books!
Then you go around blabbing about an expansion that is NOT even out yet. That has added no new classes at all after 2 years. You have zero knowledge of what content is there .
When you make a thread try and sound like someone who has an IQ above 1.As an ex-WoW player all i can say is its shocking guys like you have access to the computer
.. be a painfully reminder that Blizzard does in one expansion in two years what SOE EQ2 does with 3 expansions ( and add on kits) in less time a two years. SOE banned me to play WoW - WoW thanks SOE! /hifive!
For $160,000,000.00 per month, not counting the initial 40-50 dollar investment, one would think they could crank out a little bit more than what you get in burning crusade, and a little bit quicker.

To spin this around a bit and look at it in a different light is by saying that Blizzard didnt need to while EQ2 did. Expansions and adventure packs are all fine and dandy, but with EQ2 theirs was always buggy and incomplete for the first couple of months. Kinda like selling something that wasnt fully completed. I just wished that KOS was released before DOF. It would of kept me playing the game alot longer instead of looking for something different.

What you fail to understand is those "expansions" should have been there from the start, everyone that has played it from launch knows how crappy it was, there was practically zero content. However, they decided to add stuff that should have been there in the first place and calls them chronicles. So in other words, they are not free because your already paying for them.

Okay Blizzard recently went about talking about how they have gotten 1billion off of WoW. Considering many MMORPGs are being produced for a 1/1000th of that from scratch you think that they should have had the resources to make a truely ground breaking expansion a little quicker with all that cash.
Now since I don't remember if the 1 bil is pure profit or gross even at a conservative 2-3% profit margian that is still what 20-30mil. thats the WORST case finacial situation for Blizzard. So hopefully thats better numbers for you. Would have gotten links but well I really don't care that much anymore.
Personally I applaud thier success, its easy to hate a winner and Blizzard is definately a winner.
I subscribe the school of though that says, 7 million experienced MMO players churning through WoW over the next 2-5 years is a GOOD thing for the industry.
These players may well be happy to accept the simplicity of WoW (and by the way I debate its simplicity) for now. But eventually they will demand a more complex experience. 7 Million players wanting something deeper MUST result in large scale MMO's with a level of depth and content that looks like a progression from UO and EQ1 rather than a regression.
When these new gen, massive, complex, deep MMOs arrive. We will have WoW to thank for it.

See I have a theory about this. You notice one thing Blizzard is very keen to avoid, and that is nerfing anyone. They know that with nerfs, people leave the game. So what they do is another approach whereby they add what looks like an improvement but is actually an attempt to change the class. An example of this is Priest's innerfire. Before it was a straight 5 min buff no limitations. Then it was changed to an increased armour buff but only lasting 20 hits. This would have the effect of weakening the class but making it look as the class were getting an improvement. The problem with this approach could be the core problems are still not being tackled. There are some classes still excessively powerful and they could inevitably need nerfing. Blizzard's hope now is that they can improve some of the lesser powerful classes and change the style of pvp in Burning Crusade but I'm not convinced that is going to have much effect.
I'd also like to point out that while WoW continuously reports that they have over 7 million accounts, most of them are from China. I'd be surprised if the total number of WESTERN accounts was more than 1 million.
I wouldn't, yes a large part of its million accounts is Chinese or whatever, but it is definitely over 1million Western accounts. Scandanavians are huge fans of the game(a Google lab shows the top hits for WoW in something like Norway) and they would be a large number, not sure as much as 1m but they are a huge number.(perhaps more than even the Americans) And also it has a broad appeal so that is very popular with teenagers but can also appeal a segment of the older population as well. So I am absolutely certain WoW has over 1m Western subscribers.
Also , to address another common conception. The question of whether they are losing subscriptions I would say is inevitably yes, people like in every mmorpg will get narked off with something(read: raiding/pvp) or find it isn't their type of mmorpg. But the key thing with WoW is they are still making a large number of new players so the actual subscription levels are either level or increasing. Furthermore, with the forthcoming expansion those who did have narks may come back to see if it has improved thus perhaps increasing it's subscription levels for a record high. The question is will be is that expansion good enough to keep those returning people or will the numbers redeflate? My answer at this stage is I think it could deliver.
I'd also like to point out that while WoW continuously reports that they have over 7 million accounts, most of them are from China. I'd be surprised if the total number of WESTERN accounts was more than 1 million.
And I'd like to point you towards the Blizzard official statement, where they clearly state the they have over 2 million players in the US, and 1 million in Europe.
WoW is too simple and relies on people paying to socialize- because once you level max and get uber gear that's it; there's no real gameplay to be had.
I'll be glad when this fad passes. If you're bored and looking for better MMO's to play and finding yourself dissapointed. STOP PLAYING MMO's. There will be no more progress until we stop sending these snakeoil salesman our money.
Who cares if WoW is releasing more grind? Don't resubscribe for it and don't give them your money. WoW doesn't have to die; it just needs to stop growing and start declining. Maybe then other developers won't be caught up in a clone war to see who can make the best knock off for the next 5 years.
It's already been 7 years of EQ clones. The principles to MMORPGs really haven't changed since UO went trammie. It's carebear, grinding, and pixel crack. THAT'S IT. Stop buying it.
Hope you got your things together. Hope you are quite prepared to die. Looks like we're in for nasty weather. ... There's a bad moon on the rise.

erm...you do not come out of your WoW very much right? This is just a lame expansion that took 2 years, pmpl. Other mmorpg's come out with an expansion a year with more content than that of Burning Crusade. please get a little knowledge of what is realy going on in the world of mmropg's before you post such ridiculous statements. If anything, WoW has lowered the standard of mmorpg's as a whole. The go for quantity, but certainly not quality. And with that, also come the huge amount of subscriptions. Comparitvely like the sales of McDonalds Burgers tbh. Billions of people eat them, even though they are just a dead cheap, low quality product compared to a good quallity burger in a good diner. People nowadays tend to go for the cheap crappy stuff after all. Sad but true.

how is WoW more simple then other MMO's? Its more simple then games like EVE, but its just as simple as EQ,DAOC,CoH,FFXI. yet you don't see those having 7 million subscribers.
Do you know why Mcdonalds is popular? Becuase Mcdonalds is everywhere. every town with more then 3 houses has a Mcdonalds. is Wow everywhere? yes, but not anymore then other MMO's. Mcdonalds also runs good because its food actually tastes decent for a fast food restaurant.
Also, McDonalds has certain things that attracts children with parents (toy in happymeal, anyone?). what do you think children will pick, French fries and a hamburger, or a menu in a restaurant?. again, not the case with WoW.

Regarding my previous post, when I said "Western" I was referring to North and South America, not Europe. When was this press release you speak of?
At any rate, my point was that their subscriptions (which were predominantly USA players at the beginning of the game when they capped 4 and 5 million players) have dropped off considerably. Blizzard's tactic is to pull in new players faster than they lose them... which is a good tactic, until you realize that there are a finite amount of people in the world. I'm curious to see what happens when the failure to implement any new concepts and the re-breaking of the temporary fixes to old problems end up pushing more people away than Blizzard wants to admit.

"Working as intended."
