Lets just start over in a few months...don't give up on it now, ya know.

I am not a guild oriented player hun!
Maybe when I am level 40+ I will join a guild of very kinds players that dont expect much from me but someone to talk and exchanges advices...
Before level 40, guilds are not a consideration for me, because I cant afford to favorise guild group until such a level, or my baby power gamer will cry if my guild is not group XP hungry like me, at 40+ if they arent, they cant group with me, so the issue is resolve right away!
Benevolent kindness is all I have to offer and all I would ask, so basically, I am not someone you want in the guild to build something strong.
If EQ2 is giving all best group and solo tools to raiders AGAIN, I am so not playing it althought. When they dare limit my level, they better make sure groupers still own the grouping system! Unlimited levels would have no such issue, I would not care, I would be twice the levels of anyone raiding!
Hehe, nope, I never said I was in anything.

ooooo, I like how you think. Though, Grinding out 40 lvls isn't easy, PLUS, Grinding without equiptment... Sure, it's easy when you grind a twink, but a main? not so easy. Took me forever and a day, give or take a few hours, to Grind my main 45. At 45, I was excepted into a Raiding Guild, for as you know, 45 is the minium required lvl for Planes Trains and Res-Mobiles. Having a guild just helps out with areas that you can't solo, and has some loot which could help in your advancements. Couldn't hurt to be involved in a guild at the begining stages of the game, atleast that's my point of view.
If you ever want a "solo" partner...

The BEST thing about a guild when the game first starts is your crafters. It is wonderful to have some of the best crafters in the game in your guild. I think some of the MMORPG.com guild planned to be crafters...Our guild would make your 40+ faster!

So far, in all my EQ experiences, all guilds I join slow me and where a burden more then any help, including guild that kill Qarm by today! (that dont mean I didnt enjoy their company)
Can a guild be nice? Prolly, I just never see it happen for me, it was always requiring a lot more then what it was offering, from the noobiest to the most uber guild I was in.
Well, getting hunting partners is not an issue, everyone want to progress, but favorising guildies certainly can be a burden(it prolly can be a blessing as well) as they are rarely exactly at the same point you are.
Both my 2 toons where wearing small clothing when they reach 50(pre-Kunark druid) and 60 (Velious chanter). I assume for a melee the history would be different. My later twinks where geared by my main toons, so again, guild have very little to do here. I gain access to Tactics by helping a guild that was in dire need of an extra chanter and about to call a night off, so even if it open me Tactics as an individual, they where as happy as I was, 50 person gain access that night rather then logging off with no raid at a time where the guild in question was facing exodus toward other guilds, that success might have matter in survival of the guild even if it prolly didnt, we never know. Yet, it was a benevolent contract, no more, I help them, they help me...
Guilds, in old EQ, does matter in the high end mostly for skilled players...in power terms. I am sick of raiding for peanuts, so I am really not looking forward raiding in EQ2, nope, not at all.
EDIT: Everything that a guild ever grant me, I would have gotten with a lot less efforts alone, but again, this is a chanter/druid point of view. With the exception of the above contract for 1 precise raid that I need this or that, which happen a few times at other stages as well and where a lot more rewarding then actually be a member of a guild. Many hundred of raiding hours(closer to 1k then to 0, but unsure of details) with guilds where less rewarding then the "5 open raids" I join in my life, and they make me no present, it was purely benevolent kindness on both side...I think the raiding game need to be completely splitted from the grouping/soloing game, it would only benefit all.

Anofalye, I can see where you're coming from. In fact, I still share your point of view. My Pally was equipted by my own time, via soloing or grouping with stangers. The Guild's I've been involved with were fun guilds. There is a time when grinding, farming and camping rare drop items gets to be tedious. My guild would go out for kicks, gather around and oversee our Brothern Guild of lower lvl Char, get through without much harm. Or go out and challange a Guild to a Duel for the day or week.
I'm not interested in a Raiding Guild at the moment, for the fact is, there will be no serious raids for about 6 months at least... That's just my thinking.
I wouldn't mind getting into a guild at the begining stages of the game because 1) Paladins aren't the greatest explorers, but better at leaving ones own corpse laying around throughout the zone. 2) A great way to make allies for the future. 3) if there are raids at lower lvl dungeons, then it would be somewhat fun since EVERYONE will be a Noob to the game & area. Leaves room for Mistakes, Error and death, which will be funny in the future.
All in all, I'm for the guild, but I will not be used as a pawn in the guilds advancement to Uber status.
