Here is an example of what Im talking about: you go to random arenas. I look at local chat and its like 100 of the most immature tourettes 12 year olds got hold of a means to vent all of their pent up vulgarities. Its like they've never seen their own swearing in print before and need to see it in print over and over again.

As I was reading this topic, I was thinking about all those facts that pingo wrote. Two weeks is way short time to learn basics and to be insult with a word "noob". I'm playing it for 1 year/over 2000hrs and now I can be in position to be insulted when someone calls me a noob. Did I spend my money, time and put a lot of effort to become experienced member of "Worst MMO community ever"? Hell NO!!!
And if you are insulted by the fact that no one want to accept you as level 19 in Team Arena (for example) or team mates are leaving in Random Arena, try to ask yourself why they are doing that. Maybe because you don't have enough Attribute Points to spend on your attributes that are essential for any kind of build.
GW has big large community out of game itself. Check forums and sites for that. In game it's all about a PLAY, on forums is all about TALK, on sites is all about basic INFORMATIONS (on forums as well). Stick to that and you won't fail! Like in any other thing you are doing, there must be some effort to acheive something! GW isn't about endless killing monsters and lvling. In most of cases is all about thinking and learning.
One more thing: sometimes I don't want to be disturbed when I'm playing. Am I unsociable? lol If someone needs help or has any questions about anything, I just give them link to the place where they can find what they need. A lot of people simply want to play, not to be tour guide through GW. Have a little respect to that!
ive been playing since beta and its only after factions that this immaturity started. best way to go is to find mature guilds, which if you are lucky are allied with other mature guilds
as for the pwnerz noob roxor, i never saw that before factions came out as well...
once you get to learn how skills work you know how to use them it gets better.
the guy who told you (random skill) sucks well he is the noob following a template he found in the internet.
i still play with my ranger/monk with dodging, a build that i made myself that works perfectly for me
even though some skills i use are (WTF WHY YOU USE THAT?) they combine with my others to make a kick ass armour piercing +holy dmg. so i would hit easy 80+ per shot (with barrage)
learn exacly what your skills do and then combine them with others.
ALL SKILLS ARE USEFULL IF USED WITH THE RIGHT COMPLEMENT SKILL.
and ignore the 12 year old kidies.
i am actually doing a research on that.. what makes them act that way.
Yea, I agree with you completely. Not only do they cuss so much but they do just stupid stuff like naked dance parties, and girl characters, not girl players, will advertise stuff like "Will have sex with you for 1 platinum" or "Will send pictures of me to you for 5 platinums" and other stupid stuff like that. I'm glad I quit that game and found a game that the community are really helpful and most of them talk sophisticated, and that game is WoW.

Quoted for truth, emphasis and winning of the thread.
I have built myself in Guild Wars during this year and a half: I've defeated the Charr in The Great Northern Wall, saved Tyria from the Titan menace, cleared the Sorrow's Furnace, won the Hall of Heroes and many other accomplishments over time. I've been a newb, I've endured noobs, helped other people, been insulted, ragequitted from groups, swore at leavers, cheered with my team mates after completing an impossible mission. A couple of days ago, I've achieved the single most sought after goal in Guild Wars: the #1 rank in the world ladder.
So now, yes, I can say I've seen it all and that pingo is 100% right. GW is larger than its "lack of instances", and passing it up because of a couple unfortunate experiences would be truly a shame.
thanks for the positive feedback guys. I was not really trying to fry the OP. But merely trying to tell him some of my past experiences.
I think many of us people who enjoy online games, are similiar. And I think we go through alot of the same things, but the difference is that we are always on different stages in our experiences with these types of games.
There was a time when I would flame GW for not being "game X". It's cool to give suggestions, look at other games and see what works and what does not, but it's also important to take a game for what it is, and remember that gaming would suck if all games where similiar. We gotta praise GW for what it is. - Something completely different, uniqe and awesome.:)
Posts about how immature ocmmunity is are getting old. Only noobs complain about community because even frogs know about the ignore command. And with super heavily instanced game, GW has NO local player chatter (except guild chat and team chat). And if someone from your team acts retarded, just ignore him, and never group with him again. Its so easy to do, it should be a CRIME to not do it.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

Be careful what you say about frogs.... The Frog may not like it. And sometimes The Frog leaves around tidbits of information

WoW is one of the games i see that happen on a lot....
Anyway The game having no monthly fee DOES attract 13 year olds, because of course they dont get a paycheck but ALSO if the game is good it will attract older people also, and it will be an extra + for the younger people.
That's true, but the streakers of Guild Wars seem to only hang out in very specific locations. Generally, not late game towns for some reason.
Actually, the last time I saw a ton of them doing a naked dance party it was in the Great Temple of Balthazar, the loading point for all things PvP. Which most PvE'ers would never see.
Actually, what's wrong with naked dance parties? People have been doing that since the very launch of Guild Wars Prophecies in pre-searing Ascalon... heck, even during the BWE's!
It's a fun thing to do when you're just bored and want to socialize, I see nothing wrong with it (until it gets vulgar, that is).
I dont think GW has the best community either, but the good news is the game is set up in such a way that other players cant grief you. They cant pull monsters into your aggro, they cant gank you, they cant spawn camp you, they cant get a bunch of buddies and kill you 10vs1, high levels cant prey on low levels, they cant stand in doorways and block you, they cant do much to hurt you really.
So find a good guild, be careful who you play with via pick-up groups, use /ignore, disable local chat if needed, and enjoy!

DO you know how many of these posts we've seen here? This is Guild Wars forums, no one cares about your opinion. So why don't you be a good boy and go troll somewhere else.
Originally posted by Darktania I agree with you 100%. I played Guild Wars for about a week and had to stop because of the community. It's children and their behavior that ruin mmo's. I also had to stop playing WoW for that same reason. I wish there was a way for an MMO to be restricted totally to just 21+ players.
Yes I seen 30+ act the exact same way. Maturity plays all in these settings of competition. Sorry but welcome to an online world full of soccer fans =P
I would not say that every kid are like that but I also noticed that a lot of them do not tend to like the game and I know one that the reason is that the game is to hard and complex for him.
As for the community its not worse nor better then any MMORPG out there. But a good think is that the bad apple can not do anything else then spam the chat and have bad mouth. It can not really ruin your experience unlike in other MMO where they can agro monster on you or arras you in many way and really ruin the fun of playing. In the end you tend to ignore them and even forget that they exist.
In fact there were some mature players but nowadays you can hardly ever find one. When I began playing there are a lot of people helping me with my missions and for opening the map. But now most of them act arrogant and swear all the time. That' s really annoying. And I really do not go to arenas and play PvP with my friends from the guild and also during the party formation I called my friends for help.

Actually they can ruin it. They are just quiet when making a team and then in the mission they start yelling and stuff when things doesnt go as they want it to go. And those who dont know how to play the game are even worse. If you get stuck on a hard mission with only retard groups, you might stop playing the whole PvE part of the game out of irritation.

Guild Wars isn;t a community per se. It's not an MMO just like their front site says. If you want to make friends then go subscribe to WoW. Guild WArs is war 24/7. People not in your guild are your enemy, that simple. Not sure why people look to make friends and socialize with strangers on the net anyway really.

You sure seem to take GW seriously! But what if you don't like the PvP aspect of the game, and play PvE instead? Your thinking is flawed. And why socialise? If you start playing a game, and you don't know anyone in the game, then why not socialise? If you wan't to get to a guild, you must socialise, or you won't be in the guild long. WoW? Yeah, wow migh be better in making friends as there aren't that many immature people but that game isn't as good as GW.
yugnok, i have never had this problem in Guild Wars, and i've played it for over a year. I'm in a mature guild and we have enough things to do. To tell the truth, i have never seen anyone EVER in the game say the word "noob".
heh this is exactly the opposite of my experiences in Guild Wars. (18 Months + the beta weekends before proph came out, you can see me mentioned in one of the preview weekend reviews even, Durik Lakmor)
First off, as it has been mentioned before Random Arena, pretty much a lost cause. PvP will ALWAYS bring out the worst in people in my gaming experience, but if you're going to pvp, get to know some people first and work with them.
The PvE side of Guild Wars I find to have really helpful people, and that is not just within my guild. Having a guild is one of the keys to being happy in Guild Wars, not surprising for a game with Guild right in the name Rage Quitters are a huge pain in GW but if you play long enough you know how to avoid them, or never have to PuG which is always nice.
I can see how dropping into RAs and such right off the back can be a bad experience but it really isn't even a 1/10th of what the full game has to offer. By far, my favorite form of PvP is Alliance Battles, but I admit that I am more of a PvE player.
A buddy of mine who was a hardcore D2 and later SWG and WoW player came to Guild Wars and mentioned that it was the best community he'd been in, so really it just depends on what you do and who you happen to run into.

Random Arenas and Heroes Ascent are just like that. They are full of people who don't give a crap about anyone but themselfs and their titles and ranks. The PvP in Guild Wars is the most competitive and balanced ever. Because of this, there are many people who will do anything to win. In Guild Wars you loose if one of your team members is a noob.
Am I unsociable? lol
If someone needs help or has any questions about anything, I just give them link to the place where they can find what they need. A lot of people simply want to play, not to be tour guide through GW. Have a little respect to that!
Cheers! Cya ingame!
Guild Wars is CORPG!
ive been playing since beta and its only after factions that this
immaturity started. best way to go is to find mature guilds, which if
you are lucky are allied with other mature guilds
as for the pwnerz noob roxor, i never saw that before factions came out as well...
once you get to learn how skills work you know how to use them it gets better.
the guy who told you (random skill) sucks well he is the noob following a template he found in the internet.
i still play with my ranger/monk with dodging, a build that i made myself that works perfectly for me
even though some skills i use are (WTF WHY YOU USE THAT?) they combine
with my others to make a kick ass armour piercing +holy dmg. so i would
hit easy 80+ per shot (with barrage)
learn exacly what your skills do and then combine them with others.
ALL SKILLS ARE USEFULL IF USED WITH THE RIGHT COMPLEMENT SKILL.
and ignore the 12 year old kidies.
i am actually doing a research on that.. what makes them act that way.

- Something completely different, uniqe and awesome.:)
complain about community because even frogs know about the ignore
command. And with super heavily instanced game, GW has NO local player
chatter (except guild chat and team chat). And if someone from your
team acts retarded, just ignore him, and never group with him again.
Its so easy to do, it should be a CRIME to not do it.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

And go here for the new official Guild Wars Wiki! http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page

Yes I seen 30+ act the exact same way. Maturity plays all in these settings of competition. Sorry but welcome to an online world full of soccer fans =P
Realmreaver formally of EQ, SWG, FFXI and WoW.
Malis/Pirotess of PSO.
Some named of Diablo 1 and 2
Grendel Kinguard of GW.
I agree,
I would not say that every kid are like that but I also noticed that a lot of them do not tend to like the game and I know one that the reason is that the game is to hard and complex for him.

I have just one question: have you ever played Runescape?
Now that's a strange way to put things.
Even to myself I'm a genius
yugnok, i have never had this problem in Guild Wars, and i've played it for over a year. I'm in a mature guild and we have enough things to do. To tell the truth, i have never seen anyone EVER in the game say the word "noob".
