Darkfalls FAQ
1.
Can you walk through other players in Darkfall? No, so blocking entrances will be a viable combat tactic. It is possible to push players and monsters out of the way though, so this tactic can be countered.
You really think griefers wont use that ALLL day long? Gods & Heroes gameplay is griefer retardant, they dont like griefers and they dont support ways of doing it. Any experienced mmo gamer already knows that scenario and recognise it right off the bat.
2.
Will there be player owned houses? Players will be able to set up houses of various sizes and design, ranging from small cottages to huge castles and citadels.
Gods & Heroes gives you the freedom of your own camp without cluttering up the gameworld, less houses =less lag Not to mention the blacksmith that comes along with it nomore waiting on other players to make your weapons and armor you can do it yourself.
3.
I enjoy playing support characters. Will my contribution make a difference in combat? Your contribution could be very valuable. Logistics are very important in Clan warfare. The tradesmen, farmers, bakers, miners and other support characters stocking up supplies of spell reagents, gold, weapons, potions, armor, and whatever else is needed, are crucial to the war effort. Fighting ability alone will not be able to sustain a successful campaign for long. A clan will need to balance their activities, or cooperate with other clans in order to be successful.
Noone even has to ask this question about Gods & Heroes, if you choose to pick a support class not only will you be valuable to the group and contribute your gonna have 6-8 minions supporting you- the support class lol
4.
What’s the best path to follow to be successful in combat? The best individual fighters in Darkfall will most likely be the characters that have a good combination of skills. In Clan warfare, clans with a good mix of various specialties should fare the best.
bah its skillbased which means if you dont got the right skills you dont go on the raid and you may verywell find yourself regrinding alot or begging for respecs to keep up with the fotms. This isnt going to be a problem in Gods & heroes because EVERYONE is going to be able to do well nomatter the build.
5.
Aren’t you worried that out of control random player killers will ruin the game? No. Being a random player killer of evil alignment is definitely possible, but also an extremely hard career. You will have enemies everywhere, and will have a hard time finding a safe city to trade in. You have the freedom to play such a character, but there’s also accountability for the choices you make.
Random pk leads to griefing and I promise that will be exactly what I said...griefing. This game is an attempt at uo with a new graphics engine imo and they arent fooling anyone! lol thing is... Uo was a once in a lifetime deal buddy there wont be another. Gods & Heroes isnt trying to be like any other mmo its a whole new unique game!
6.
Will Darkfall have safe zones? There are no safe zones in Darkfall unless the players themselves create them or seek them out. There is no area where a player cannot be attacked by another player.
I loooove the pvp dude in any mmo! ANY MMO but... dont you hate when your sitting at the bank and you get ganked trying to drop off your loot? Look for that to happen very frequently in darkfall and NOT once IN Gods & Heroes
7.
How are you going to handle Player Killing? Anyone can attack anyone. In fact Darkfall encourages you to seek out and kill enemies of your race and your clan. However, it is up to each kingdom to set the rules of their borders. The different kingdoms have NPC guards that have orders given to them by the player kings and lords. You can order the guards to attack on sight. The guard “hit list” can include clan names, individual player names, specific races, alignments, and enemies.
Wow dude can you say griefer online? rofl Hey its sounds fun to me i got used to that in shadowbane and Uo but... Gods & heroes gives you the player.. the option to pvp that means its friendly to all type gamers and not people bent on pvp and continous gankage and murder lol jeez. i like games that have players in them that actually play not get ganked frequently and quit after 2 days. But you know i may try this just to come kill a few nOObs with ya O.o
8.
What is the setting of this game? The setting of Darkfall is a fantasy adventure where anything is possible, with dragons, elves, orks, sorcery, epic battles, quests, and the never-ending struggle between good and evil.
Sorry bro but Im sick of elves and orcs. Gods & heroes puts me in Rome as a person with the power of the mythological roman gods
9.
How big is the world? The world is huge, possibly the largest single online game world ever created. Besides being huge, the world features hundreds of islands you could discover and make your secret base on. As you travel across Agon you will encounter unique terrain features never seen before in online games, such as mountains ranges that rise for thousands of feet, waiting for you to climb and explore them.
I love huge worlds man I really do but not so huge that i spend all of my time getting from point A to point B.
Gods & heroes landmap is pretty huge too but I'd doubt I'll be wandering around lost and getting pk'd throughout the time Im exploring. hehe
10.
I wont diss the graphics bro Im an bit of an artist myself and know polycounts really make a difference sometimes for use in mmos but G&h has it hands down.
If its epic warfare ya want you can get that in G&H too! darkfall didnt invent it and wont be the only game offering it have a look at the clips in the media sectionhere.
Dont talk down unless you can say youve read up on this game fully enough to not agree with the options offered. This game is nothing like W.o.W had you read on it before posting youd have known that. 1. There are penalties for death . 3 forms of it.
2. a full pvp system including a full crafting system will be added post launch but dueling and arena combat will be available apon release.
3. pvp should be fun and NOT make you want to quit. Whoever told you while you were growing up that is was fun to beat yourself over the head with a hammer and smile at the pain should be locked away without release.

If you read more closely, I was agreeing with the point made by the topic creator. And, when did I say anything bad about this game? I anticipate pvp, but would like to see a full pvp system. I'm not sure what your point is with #3, because we seem to share the same concensus.
Originally posted by virre Aquila26, never heard of risk vs reward? You should try it. And stop being such a carebear.
I know all about risk vs reward and Im probably one of the many first to use the term "carebear" coming from the older days of Ultima Online I might also add sir that I played shadowbane for a good while too. I have no problem with risk -vs- reward and i have no problem decimating you in the arena if you feel the need to find out who the carebear really is Maybe you should come on out to G&H apon release and back up your use of the term carebear as its sooo easy to BE a carebear and run your mouth in a forum
Make no mistake this game has EVERY type of gamer interested in it. Dont think certain things havent been proposed by some of the future gamers of G&H. 9 Out of 10 people ask about pvp and are ready for that chance. We just like the option to choose when and where we battle and not have it dictated to us by the system itself. Simply having an ffa server with certain rules that compliment/bar runamuckery and battle, looting and permadeath are all being discussed and considered.
Guess what? I support a player having options, the option to kill a trashtalker on a forum, the option to loot a trashtalker on a forum, and the option to let that noob trash talk on a forum where he is safe. Its all about options maybe you should learn something about that? Or are you so onesided that you cant see that certain games dont give you options?
Dont use the term carebear unless your ready to prove that you arent one yourself. I pointed out in the post above that Id probably come out to df and give it a go as Im not close minded and am fairly experienced with that type of game environment SUCKA
Long as the pvp is voluntary I have no trouble with it being in a game. Personally with some of the career paths I have led in real life from military to law enforcement I've had enough of punks trying to take me out. I like to play these games to relax and adventure with friends.

If its epic warfare ya want you can get that in G&H too! darkfall didnt invent it and wont be the only game offering it have a look at the clips in the media sectionhere.
1) Anyone whos ever played a game with blocking knows that nine out of ten times its the griefers that get blocked and killed.
2) Once houses are placed they are static and cause as much lag as a tree or rock. If you get a house and smith off the bat, it wont be long until you get everything you'll ever need in your house. Its kinda like playin drop a rock, ya just cant lose. Any type of instance is a big old negative, might as well be a stand alone game.
3) If nothing else at least the 6 or 8 npcs will be a valuable support class.
4) Skill based is just that, meaning it takes skill, level based, well, drop your rock again and gain a level.
5) If the penalty for random PKing is stiff enough there will be very little, when UO made the 20% stat loss for pks you could'nt find a PK. Sooner or later a company will make a UO replacement, once people get tired of playing games where the world is handed to you on a platter.
6) Well of course it wont happen theres no looting. I started out on UO but once EA games bought and killed the game all the vets left, since then I've played EVE, SWG, SB, WOW and a host of others and I'm sorry but there is no excitement.
7) I get get to turn my pvp button on or off, hello excitement. Mythbusters dipel the myth, with no looting no one griefs because theres no point why waste time killing a player with nothing to loot? However if theres never anything to loot its griefer heaven because thats all there is to do. If theres nothing at stake then the only reason to pvp is to cause grief.
8) I could care less wether its high fanatasy, history, western or sci fi, game mechanics is all that matters.
9) Cmon really the bigger the world the better.
I'm not sure if either of these games are what I'm looking for, right now I'm playing UO on a free server all other games fall way short so I have to play the second oldest game there is.
Gods and heroes may be very good so might darkfall, but as game after game disappoints, culminating in the mindless, skillfree, linear garbage that is wow, I'll take the fifth on expressing any opinion of a game that is'nt yet released.
I think it's bizarre that you seem to have both a sense of humour (whole pocket of shhh) AND the masochistic need to lose your equipment in pvp.
You begin your whole e-mail by disregarding all other forms of pvp as not thrilling enough, even though they ARE. You might as well have said "I know the sky is blue, but i isn't--its green!"
Simply, although some hardcore players will chime in on your poll and keep you at a small percentage--the actual number that would play a game like this is infestismally (no idea if I spelled that right) small.
That play style may suit you for the moment, but as you mature--with any amount of wisdom at all--you will see that it is just not fun enough to balance the loss. A game with that kind of harsh punishment would not be big for long. And G&H will be big for a long, long while. So...wrong forum for you, I guess.
And oh, having epic gear does not make you unstoppable. And no one in their right mind would pay to play a game where they lose armour it took them months, even years to procure. You'll agree someday.
I think its retarded that a simple solution of choice is usually overlooked....why not just have a server that allows loot PvP?....a server for the carebears.....maybe even a server for consentual PVP....Thats what I loved about Rallos Zek (EQ1) in the old days....there were other servers to choose from...so the carebears could simply walk hand in hand on the other servers....leave a server for the hardcore player that doesnt mind a good fight...(even from a griefer)...and is mature enough to handle the loss of an item.....having a choice is really what makes an MMORPG fun IMO.
I am one of the minority who voted YES for looting bodies in pvp, then again when I played WoW I stopped @ almost every person I killed and looted the few coins I could get off of them just to make a point.
For me, I enjoy the risks of this type of gameplay. The person defeated should lose something that is of value to them. But it is also a fine line of wether its an enjoyable factor or just bad karma for the game.
While playing Jump Gate a ways back, pvp was great. My heart spead up, hands got sweaty and I shouted at the top of my lungs when I downed my enemies. And unlike what a previous poster had said, I enjoyed fighting players of greater or equal skill... thats how you learn, people. When you lost you didnt lose your entire ship, but you would have to reequip it, pay for the components etc.. wich took you out of the battle for a few minutes. PvP went like this for several months until carebears started whining and Devs implimented harsher penalties for pvp that made it nearly impossible to fight and reequip in a reasonable time.
Point is, the prospect of being able to loot your opponent of all his items can be a bit harsh on them. However if you could loot a trophy (reach down and cut off his ear/ scalp him and hang it on your wall) and put some type of downtime in for the defeated player so they cant just respawn and join back in.. now this would make for some great gameplay.
Yes, I would like to be able to loot my enemy. But only to the point where it is still gratifying to me, and doesnt make the game "feel" unplayable for my enemy. A good PvP'r understands how valuable the player base is, and how important it is to have an abundance of enemies to choose from
It is all about risk vs reward. A full corpse looting system promotes play where no one bothers getting anything because they will just lose it. If you get an outrageously awesome peice of gear your going to have to work for it, otherwise the reward would be much greater then the risk. Why would you then turn around and risk something huge for absolutely no reward since your sporting top of the line and a group of other people could just come along and tag team you and all your work is gone? The only way a real full loot system could work is if there is no epic style unique gear and then it would be boring since... whats the point. To many people involved in to many ways with to many possible problems for a full loot system to work. And again, whats the point in getting or trying to get the best gear if your sole purpose then would to be a vending machine for roaming groups of players that did'nt get the gear for themselves? And again, no possible reward for you since you already have the best gear...I just don't see the motivation of trying to accomplish anything. Throw in permanent death and then corpse looting makes sense. Otherwise its one big ass groundhogs day the movie.
I agree with you is some areas and dont inthe other areas. Like some people love to PVP but dont want to lose there stuff they worked so hard to get. But I do think there should be zones for ppl who want to full looting privileges and zones who dont want full looting.
P.S. there should be rewards like points to get awsome items when you PVP too.
Your system is too carebear. If you want pvp, make it for keeps. Why stop at loot whoring? If you kill someone, they are dead... No levels to grind... everyone is the same level... if you die, you re-roll... go get some good gear and go hunting for the gankster that took you out. Pure, simple, and too the point. Anything less is too carebear for pvp.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

yes, that is true but thats not for all people remeber that. And also the uber gear that u had may have been amost impossible to find. or a once in a life time weapon. But dont get me wrong I like the idea but im just looking for both groups of people happy.

yes, that is true but thats not for all people remeber that. And also the uber gear that u had may have been amost impossible to find. or a once in a life time weapon. I like the idea but if u have just a full looting PVP it isnt fair to the ones who dont like it. So everyone is somewhat happy
The key to full-loot PvP is to NOT include weapons that are "once in a lifetime." When you have equipment that takes months or weeks to earn, it simply isn't worth it in the long run. You ARE going to lose it, and you just did all that work for nothing. Having that "uber leet" item doesn't imply that you aren't going to die, it guarantees that you will and only makes you a target.
I think this is the most important point to remember in the debate between hardcore and carebear. The two styles are too vastly different to be included in the same game, and if you're playing two different games, then who cares?
Originally posted by Aethios The key to full-loot PvP is to NOT include weapons that are "once in a lifetime."
So in a full-loot game, all the gear needs to be interchangeable, easy to replace junk? Why bother with looting stuff that's so easy to replace, all the looting does is let you grief newbies, vets will have a big stash of spare gear?
I think this is the most important point to remember in the debate between hardcore and carebear.
The most important thing to remember is that people who call themselves 'hardcore' inevitably aren't.
Originally posted by virre Aquila26, never heard of risk vs reward? You should try it. And stop being such a carebear.
If someone says "risk versus reward" and also describes themselves as 'hardcore' or other people as 'carebear', then what they really mean is 'I want to gank people and take their stuff'. None of you 'hardcores' talking about risk versus reward ever explain how the risk and reward apply to full-loot PVP, and anyone with experience in these games knows that full-loot means the attacker typically risks far less than the victim for far more reward.
Originally posted by havocthefirs Lol, tough talk from a guy not will to put his inventory on the line.
Haha, you guys are so entertaining when you try to talk tough. It's especially funny when you talk so tough about PVP but want a game where you mostly PVE grind to be able to afford PVP losses.
This is a game after all, do you think golfers, football players or any sports team (aka gamers of a different sort) plays for bragging rights? They play for the money pure and simple.
The vast majority of people who play sports play for the fun of playing and bragging rights, professional athletes are a tiny minority. I've known a lot of people who play golf or some other amateur sports leage for fun than who actually get paid for it. Even if we only look at professional sports players, we don't see them 'putting their inventory on the line', risking their money if someone challenges them to a ball game while they were doing something else. They play on a level playing field, with both teams prepared and on equal footing. Meanwhile the 'hardcores' just want to gank people and take their stuff, open-loot games are the worst to try to find a remotely equal fight in.
what if you got xp from pvp? what if you did get loot from killing people, just not their loot? would it still be pointless to you?
I'm guessing it will be because what you seek is not pvp, it is grieving. i am not against full pvp looting in the right game but whenever i see someone post things like this it makes me laugh.
Yes, that is still pointless.
Some of my fondest memories were in AC PVP where i knew i was carrying some great loot, i would be sneaking around trying to stay away from roads or public area's to avoid other players. When my heart would start beating faster when a red dot appeared on my radar and when my hands would literally start shaking when i was attacked.
This is what i want to relive, i want feelings in games again! Risk and reward.
The fight ensued and after a good, adrenaline filled fight i was killed. I headed back to my body hoping that he hadn't looted the items i had dropped. On retrieving my corpse i found he had looted them all, my stomach turned...
I quickly gathered some guild friends and went off to seek revenge! That bastard must die!
Good times
Now the same situation in WOW (or any other no loot PVP games for that matter) -
I found a great item. I walk wherever i want without fear cause if i die, it doesn't matter! I see an enemy, he attacks me, i die, i respawn, i grind some more?? This gets old, FAST.

Yea people, first of all, I try not to come off as forum warriorish, so please excuse me if I did,my apologies. I do try to handle my pvp business ingame as a fun activity and not to grief or mistreat fellow players, but you know when someone basicly calls you out on a forum of all places, I consider it a weak thing to do and I respond to it as I see fit especially when it's concerning an mmo that isnt released with no way of pvp happening until it is. Make no mistake, I'm no griefer and I'm very much pro community, I'd much rather lend a hand to a newbie and encourage progress then act like a complete noob and trashtalk on forums then run out to the FFA server to participate in full scale ganking and pk anyday which proves no point at all other than I have no life in doing so.
With that been said, my goal is to encourage others to come on out to G&H apon open beta or release and have fun and to be part of the great community we have so far, nomatter your gamestyle, pvp, pve, crafting whatever, each being just as important as the other, of course you may or may not find pros and cons both relative to your styles of play, they cant please everyone but they can try to help everyone have fun and I think thats whats this game is going to be about. Fun

That last section, it couldn't be more perfect. I think it should be a signature file.
i have to say i agree with the poster, i didn't bother to read the rest of the forum, so i may be off the current road of chat, but the whole idea of pvp looting makes sense. I mean think about it, some guy has the best armor in game so every can go after him and try to take the prize, kinda like in halo when your the juggernaut. But i think this shouldn't be total loot. I mean it should only be stuff for combat or else thieving would become an issue

So your afraid to lose your gear, thats understandable, most mommas boys are. Thats why you play baby games without looting between warring guilds. People like yourself always talk tough when theres nothing to lose. In fact your style of gameplay is usually getting into a large guild and slaughtering one person, then trash talking how you owned him, just like your trash talking now.
You scare no one but yourself. I need no coins, however a large supply of toilet paper is in your furture as you crap you panties in fear. You will lose nothing so try and calm yourself. You were probably quivering like a frightened bunny just typing your response.

My apologies Chris it seems I misunderstood your points.
#3 reguarding pvp and fun can be used then to describe anyone who feels that way. Generally
Aquila26, never heard of risk vs reward?
I pointed out in the post above that Id probably come out to df and give it a go as Im not close minded and am fairly experienced with that type of game environment SUCKA
www.mmorpgnucleus.com
OK, Aquila26, its a deal. You try Df and I will try G&H.
Please, do tell how G&H is more impressive than Darkfall (other than graphics obviously). I would be VERY interested to hear this.
Dont mind if I do

Gods and heroes may be very good so might darkfall, but as game after game disappoints, culminating in the mindless, skillfree, linear garbage that is wow, I'll take the fifth on expressing any opinion of a game that is'nt yet released.
rofl thats all im sayiin bro just give it a try. I dont rule out df you people rule out G&H then we can choose whats what. sounds like a plan. haha
Havoc I think you'll come around bro i really do. and when ya do I think you'll be happy but like you say wait till its out and then judge.

A good PvP'r understands how valuable the player base is, and how important it is to have an abundance of enemies to choose from
I agree with you is some areas and dont inthe other areas. Like some people love to PVP but dont want to lose there stuff they worked so hard to get. But I do think there should be zones for ppl who want to full looting privileges and zones who dont want full looting.
P.S. there should be rewards like points to get awsome items when you PVP too.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
So in a full-loot game, all the gear needs to be interchangeable, easy to replace junk? Why bother with looting stuff that's so easy to replace, all the looting does is let you grief newbies, vets will have a big stash of spare gear?
The most important thing to remember is that people who call themselves 'hardcore' inevitably aren't.
Haha, you guys are so entertaining when you try to talk tough. It's especially funny when you talk so tough about PVP but want a game where you mostly PVE grind to be able to afford PVP losses.

Fun
