I have to agree with this. WOW was a total step backwards in the mmorpg community. They've made a game that wasnt innovative at all (b/g's = pointless world pvp)(not seemless world)(no randomly generated loot)(no real reason to avoid death)(no endgame)(no lore)(still questing to "clean out the rat population")
and now b/c it was successful you have all of these people that think this is what makes a good mmorpg and most of them dont realize that these concepts are old and outdated and need to be moved away from to make a better game.
I really hope that aoc takes into consideration all the complaints that veteran (by veteran i mean uo/eq/ac and mud) mmorpg'ers make about wow when they complete AOC.

You think it will have as many people as WoW? I like a big community even if there are a few immature kids this game you can slice their head off sooo... lol But, seriously immature kids you can ignore them or something I dont know thats just what I do or something. Bright side, this game is gory, bloody and etc. so less immature kids will play.
I'm not sure that it wall have as many players as wow since there are other fantasy games that are coming out, but AoC will probably get a lot of subscribers.

Imho, the only game which will be released next year who will be able to compete with WoW is WAR for all the WoW fans who subscribed at its release left from DAoC.
Thus, as WAR is developped by the same guys, and also features things which made DAoC so great (and also WoW), many will go on WAR.
im a fan of the REH books and i know quiet a lot of people are too.. Seeing as how this is based around the original writings of REH there should be tons of players who actually know where they are and the story behind the land... but like all MMORPGS there are the newbs that tend to ruin the game. If a lot of people migrate from wow over to AOC theres gunna be a bunch of 10-14 year olds whinning about how dumb this game is and how it makes no sense and how wow is better blah blah. I think the community is gunna be pretty good. Im kinda hoping for an EQ2 community. In my experiance the EQ2 community was one of the best iv played with. (including wow, SWG, CoV, FF11, GW... etc) but yeah thats just my opinion.

I gotta agree with you on 1 thing. It is the highest rated MMORPG out there.. but thats all i agree on. Wow Hasn't earned my respects... They've set back all MMORPGS. They havn't done anything fancy with there game they just set it around WarCraft which wasn't that good of a game in the first place. The game is way to easy and even the vets of WoW say that. Conan probably wont surpass the sales of WoW and im happy for that. WoW was one of the worst communitys iv ever played in. (EQ2 being the best.. smallest =/) The second i started playing WoW i saw these level 30's coming up to me saying stuff like " OMG NEWB WE DONT NEED ANOTHER NEWB IN OUR SERVAAAR KEKEKEKEKE" I then asked how old he was and he said 30. Now no 30 year old would act like that. Kids ruin games. WoW has set back the advancement of MMORPGS... Conan might be a step forward. They completly changed the combat system, which IMO needed to be changed. I dont know about you but hitting "1" to attack and "2" to use my special ability was freggin lame. Anyway, this game seems like it was made for the fans... based on the old REH books. HOnestly if all these people wanna stick to WoW please by all means do. Just leave the fans of Conan and REH alone.
ps. the reason i dislike Microsoft is they make products that demand so much computer preformance and theres always so many glitches. Theres almost no one who can stand up to microsoft.. Of course theres mac and linux but they suck compared to microsoft. Thats partly the reason the government is trying to fine gates. He by definition doesn't have a monopoloy but they're trying to get money outa him anyway.
Yes WoW did not inovate but what it did do was to take all the good things from previous MMO's and merge them into a very polished, bug free & enjoyable MMO, even if you only play upto 60 (70 in the expansion) its still a very fun MMO, its what I call a pick'n'play MMO unlike EvE or EQ which realy does demand more time to get through.
Also remember that WoW opened the world to MMO's I believe that many of the MMO's in development now would not be if WoW was not created.
I quit playing WoW after 10 months, got to 60 in 3-4 months (first time toon.... LOL at ppl who say got to 60 in 2 weeks) and did the end game stuff for a while but got bored of it. I've now re-activted my account after 3 months away ready for TBC, with TBC offering 5man dungeons as opposed to the old 40man end game dungeons I hope to stay around for 5 months or so, after which I'll quit again... unless I get hooked on the Arena ladder system which sound great.
Many people complain about WoW end game, but they complain after enjoying the game for over a year and they forget the good times they had... if you find a game holds no interest any more then quit.
As to the commnunity ive never realy had a problem, occasionaly I'll help some 1 or save some 1 from certain death and they just walk off, no thankyou.. nothing, but im sure this is true to ALL MMO's just more noticable in WoW cus theres more people about.
Just yesterday I helped a lvl 32 do some quests, im a lvl 60 and he tried to give me gold for helping which I turned down ofc.
As to kids yes they're about as they all in ALL other MMO's but play after 7pm and most have gone to bed. Its easy to spot if you've teamed with a kid, they often look after #1 and rarely chat.
The reason WoW was so known was because Blizzard already had so many Successfull games done and they could advertise every time u went to play star craft, Warcraft, D2 etc. As for bug free... i dunno i encounterd some bugs and i only played for like a week.. I was able to walk threw trees and sometimes when i died i couldn't go back to the grave yard. Anyway im just praying the community isn't Crappy but... praying doesn't help anything. Ill just have to wait and see.
IMO AoC will not kill WoW, But I am sure it will do ok for little while,Aoc looks like it might get dull after awhile after the newness goes away and it just becomes another mmo same as the others with just one or 2 differnt ploys here and there. the only game that will ever kill WoW would have to be something that is sci fi type of game with very smooth gameplay maybe something like a Mechwarrior mmo sorta. thats the only thing I could ever think of killing WoW. or cyberpunk mmo. something where you can play your character and have the options of getting in mechs or taking taxis's in a city or something to that effect. something that looks little like judge dread movie era.
AoC will not kill WoW and I could care less. AoC will have a good following and it will be fun to play I believe.
As far as WoW goes and everyone saying they have the most immature player base. Well that may be true but since they have the most everything, they will rank #1 in just about any population category.
As i said before, i hope AoC Isn't as sucessefull as Wow. If it was, we would have all these 11 year olds running around saying stuff like. " Omg noobs this is teh bad game LAWL i wishz they made it like wow rofl rofl kekekekekeke" Smaller Player base usually means better community. IM hoping for something liek Eq2 community just a little bigger. IMO opinion this game was made for the fans of conan.. You probably wouldn't like it as much unless u were into conan and read REH's books.

I know for sure i wont be playing it from the get go funcom screwed up the ao launch big time and playing it in the beginning was a big pain.And for the record it took funcom almost a year before the ao game came into its glory..

I Hope AoC not will be as shallow as WoW. As I know the guys at Funcom that is not the case.
I am a Conan Fan and have been since I was a Child. I will backstab the game if they do not stay

They have over and over written and showed us that they will stay true to the
universe of Conan and I cant wait to just run around in that world.
