actually the thing with "Friends dont let friends play solo" is a huge advantage of DDO. Makes it kinda unique and interesting, may have to check the trial again.

I agree. I fail to see how just because there is the ability to do soloing in DDO that they have in anyway went back on their slogan. I think the very fact of how advanced and well the social panel works reflects this. DDO is first and foremost a group game and that hasn't changed. Just because there is the SOLO option really doesn't effect the game one way or another. One could solo a good portion of the quest before if they were willing to take their time, think about their moves, and bring along plenty of potions. All they did was give an option to allow people that like to only play with a set group of friends have an advertised option to play when their friends were not on.
Friends don't let friends play solo.... unless they all have to work, go to school or have other things to do. That and sometimes people just want to solo a bit. The argument about Turbine running the game by giving a solo option doesn't hold water.
DDO is unique. It is one of the, if not the most lag free games I have ever played, even more so when you consider the graphic textures. The game is complex and requires you to plan out your characters in advance. A mistake in the original point selection of your character can and most likely will have a direct effect on your long term game play.
Give it another shot like you mentioned Natri.

By your analogy, we can't argue about anything except the extreme postive, which isn't what this forum or any forum is about. I believe in free speech and RPG has the right to say what he please as long as he does insult. Even if he has played this game in a long time, does that make his information less credible and does it give him less of right to be on this forum. You say RPG should be doing some serious soul searching because he post more than 3 posts in this forum. Ironically, the same could be said about you seeing as you spent several post replying to him and getting defensive. This applies to the others as well. As I just mentionws in my last post, rather than fight with CRPG, how about coming up with suggestive ideas to improve the game or a petition to ask Turbine to improve the quality of the game.
Well, I'm off to the Vanguard board. Hopefully, you'll figure something out. I just wanted to say my 2 cents because this whole board is full of negativity and isn't just coming one person, but all of you here because of you have nothing better to do, but talking about each other.
Dude, what planet are you from? This guy has not played in 3 months, since that time, the lvl cap has been raised, pvp and auction houses introduced, new solo friendly approach at lower levels, new spells, feats, weapons, graphical overhaul, dungeons and probably more, that I can't think of right now! So yes, he is UNQUALIFIED to speak about how this game is now! Module 3 was an expansion's worth of content!
If you went into the WoW forums 2 months after TBC is launched and started sprouting you knew this that and the other about the whole game without playing TBC, you'd be laughed at!
I left EQ2 to come to DDO but I would not dare tell people how crap this and that may be, as there has been an expansion and all manner of changes there since I played, therefore I don't feel I am qualified to do so! Plus and more importantly, I don't play it anymore!
On a personal note, yes, I do like the game! Yes, I'd like it to have more content, yes, I'd LOVE crafting and I would also like more open spaces, these are coming and it is NOT a bad game because it does not have them!
I know Turbine have dropped the ball in the past but they really are trying with this game, they ARE LISTENING to people's concerns, all the changes recently have come from the forums more or less. People found it a little drab (i love it personally), they lightened it up, pvp, auction house AND SOLO options were all requested by the player base.
People wanted randomised traps, shrines and monsters etc in dungeons, it's happened in the newer content! We wanted more open spaces, we got the desert of Menachtarun! More is coming!
No, it's not perfect but what it does, it does very well. Once those missing features are all in, this will be a very, very good game!
And why people want to bash it 3 months after playing a trial is absolutely beyond me!
You must not leave until you free Arlos and have gathered your party safely in this hallway.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the game isn't complex or unique. It has the same features as EQ2 and I'm pretty sure it has the same features as every other mmorpg. Other MMORPG features character builds, dungeons, soloing and teamwork. DDO from experience wasn't any different from EQ except in it's mechanics. And it difficult to screw up your build in DnD. The enchantments you get through actions point favor your class and it's hard to pick the wrong feat for your class. For example, it's impossible for a Wizard to screw up his build by getting the Greater Two-Handed weapon feat when it requires a strength score of +17. How many Wizards you know have a strength score of +17? Explain to me how a player can mess their build up?
Also I would like for you to explain to me how the quests are difficult. I played a Fighter up to level 4 and they were piece of cake? But since I only played the trial to level 4, I'll never understand unless I play the game to level 12. (Sarcasm towards Selling point.)

I hope I got you name right. By your analogy, I have no right to speak in these forums either since I haven't played the game in 2 weeks. Fortunately, MMORPG and the forums that exist here aren't just for elites, but for all people to post as they please and when they please. You have no right to censor him. Also if you read CRPGs post, he did play when the new stuff was installed, but he still didn't like it. If you would read his post, you would see he had seen the new content.
Saying you played to only level 4 and actually understand the full game and all that it makes it up is like saying you played WoW to level 20 and actually have a clue about Endgame. Sure the quest for the first few levels are cakewalk. I can do most of them on Hard or usually epic solo without much problem at the lower levels. The first few levels are meant to be cakewalk in any game.

No sorry if you misunderstood my meaning. My list applies to any game in these forums. As I said there is always one guy in every game forum that sees it their mission to troll and post constant negative threads. This is not unique to DDO by any means. As Capt. RPG is really the only one that seems to have a personal vendetta towards the game.
It is a point that even if a new player plays the game, likes it and writes a positive statement about it. The people that are obsesive compulsive and are trolling feel the need to follow up someones post with: "No the game sucks! I am a veteran of many MMORPG's and you simply don't know what you are talking about. You just think you enjoyed the game because you don't know any better. Trust me you did not enjoy the game."
There is no chance for these type of posters to realize they are one of many people in a forum and it is possible that while they may not like a game and they are free to post their comments, others may actually like it. If you check post after post in the DDO forum there are plenty of people that have tried the game and liked it and there is always one guy that continually wants to tell them they didn't like the game and that they know better.

Well, you see, herein lies the problem, this person says they have only played 3 trial periods, the last of which was 3 months ago, which by my reckoning is September BEFORE module 3 and the new content was launched. He also says that he beat the Titan during one of his trial periods which is IMPOSSIBLE as NO-ONE in the game was able to beat him until the end of OCTOBER and Turbine had to make it easier as no-one was able to do it from launch! It was defeated after his last trial period ended! The group who did it had a congratulation from Turbine on the official website http://www.ddo.com/article/568
No-one is trying to censor anyone, it is beyond my power certainly.
It's like watching HALF A MOVIE and commenting on the WHOLE MOVIE! Yes, you can comment onto the part you watched until, no problems there but you cannot give an opinion on the WHOLE MOVIE!
You go into ANY OTHER GAME FORUM on this site and make a comment about any of the games, making sure to mention you have ONLY DONE A TRIAL VERSION and see what happens!
Now, I'm sorry but ANYONE who feels the need to consistently bash something that they don't like AND have not played for 3 months is ODD, I'm sorry! WHY DO IT???? WHY???????? TELL ME???? AND TELL ME QUICKLY!!!!!!!

Are you sure he wasn't counting this month or last month when said 3 months ago. I have a tendency to do that myself. December, November and October. Or maybe he missed counted, either way, he knew the strategy and I have yet to see a source that he copied and pasted it.

Ok, well let's count back then shall we. Today is 30th Dec, 1 month previous is 30th Nov, 1 month previous to that is 30th Oct, 1 month previous to that is 30th Sept! 3 months. If he erred, then that takes you back to the 30th Aug!! The Titan wasn't defeated until the 25th October!
So, this is what he has missed since the end of Oct:-
It's admirable that you are defending him but you CANNOT take anyone seriously who thinks that the Waterworks is a LEVEL 5 Dungeon and that you only fight kobolds all the way up until level 5!
This is someone who thinks it's his 'job', nay his 'duty' is to protect people from the 'lies' sprouted by the players of DDO (mainly European, I might add, because according to him, only Europeans play it!, even though there are twice as many US servers than European!) who lack 'intelligence'. (The quotes are his, not mine!)
Now, answer me these 2 questions if you will:-
1) Do YOU think it is NORMAL to be so concerned about a game you neither LIKE or PLAY?
2) How was the new Fantastic Four movie?
You must not leave until you free Arlos and have gathered your party safely in this hallway.
I give up really, everyone seems to miss the point or they aren't listening to me. You've missed the whole point as to what I'm doing right. I'm not defending him, but trying to get your mind off of all this negativity. Even when RPG isn't, there are still trolls lurking and I can't deal with it anymore.
As for the answer to your first question, I think he's fan who was disappointed by the results. Your a fan of the game and I betting he is too. Anyway, I'm not coming back here anymore, I was just trying to get this board back on track, but nevermind.

I just think they arnt listening to you, atleast for my own sake. its not that you dont have a point, and a good one to. but as i see it, CaptRpg's crusade is working against its purpose imo. i have seen alot of new faces in DDO section trying to defend their game, and ive seen some bashing it. but thats good...All are welcome to discuss this game, either with a positive or negative view. but what caused all this hatespewing between posters were when one started spreading lies and false information, both about turbines intentions and ingame features etc. and when "we" came in and corrected him, we got a FU attitude back. after that, neithless to say, we fell to his level.
Think i lost my point somewhere there, but... I dont mind Not being cival, what i do mind is someone coming in on a high horse trying to mother us all. we are grown men, we know when we misbehave noone is better than the next on this forum. Not being mean here lastera, just telling you how i felt about your "mother us" attempt.
Bah! None of this matters. The fact is DDO is the 2nd worst MMO ever made. The graphics are terrible, quests are repetitive and lame, the CS is non-existant, the sound bland, the DnD rules raped of any semblence of their former glory.
Turbine needs to hang their head in shame of this shoddey, half-baked MMO that needed more time, and a new dev team to ever float.
Die DDO! Die the death of shame! And each and every 'developer*" that had to do with this game needs to be blackballed for life from MMO development!
Crappiest game ever!

First of all, you insipid little fanboi, nowhere did I charactorize mypost as a rant. Strike one fanboi.
You can ignore the truth all you want, little man, but you beloved little game is in the toilet, much like your dignity and credibility as an informed MMO player, thanks to this little gem above.

You know this, but refuse to admit it? Odd..guess your just a stupid little fanboi shil?
Hmmm...After much consideration...yes, you are an idiot. Good luck with that.

That's funny stuff. Do Cult of the Six and Vault of Night and Twilight Forge at level 9-10 just on normal, or better yet on Elite, and then post again.
Lol just joined the forums and was going through them, since my SWG account was cancelled since I was trying it out again, so I was looking for another game.
Cpt. you have suceeded I am now going to sign backup to DDO and give it another go !!
I will try and be a bit more social ingame (note I signed off due to the lack of solo content and not much exploring to do), reading people arguing against your fantasy style opinions of the game has made me remember the fun I had with good groups and rl friends in the game.
With you just playing a trial on it I cannot fathom how you think you are an expert on the game lol, some of what you put up is soooo wrong, I read the bit about bards in one thread from you, you did make me laugh.
You are just a disgruntled player who did not like the trial (the main word there is the TRIAL), then gets all your info off the forums, or as you said from your friend who must be signed up to the game (mmmm signed up, paying money then he must like it lol).
DDO is a game targetted at old and new AD&D players then others after that, and that is simple, argue how you like cos whatever you say will be pure waffle, if it was not targeted at AD&D players then why call the game DUNGEONS & DRAGONS, why not DUNGEONS & WIZARDS, mmmmmm because it is targeted at this player base lol and based upon the AD&D roleplaying game.
Yes I am over 30, Yes I did play D&D when I was a kid (I was also heavily into rugby aswell does that meet nerd status lol), Have I played other MMO games, yes about 8 over 7 years including WOW which I thought was more basic than a game of hangman (sorry to th WOW fans out there, but I could not stand it)
So on your list of people you made avoid the game add +1 on the list that you have now convinced to sign backup lol hehe haha sorry mate you are just so funny, its like listening to a teen who thinks he knows all about computers as he has learned to switch one on.
Thank you for proving my point, TheFranchise, that only the elitist are allowed to post here.
I feel that he is just making the point that as with all games, the lower level you are, the easier the quests are. As you get to higher levels, the dungeons do get more difficult.
You must not leave until you free Arlos and have gathered your party safely in this hallway.
"Just doing my job in making sure the fanboys don't convince the players into buying something they may not like or exaggarating qualities that this game doesn't have."
Always trolls around. Remember people can download the trial for free and try for themselves. Or better yet, ask someone who plays it to let you try it out. I have a number of friends who play now that I have loaned them my account. They finally tired of the relentless grind and raiding in WoW and wanted to see something with a more unique feel.
If you haven't played the game, then how do you know what the game is like at different levels?
I played Shadowbane for a periond of about a month, and hated it. Does that mean the game sucks? Well, maybe, maybe not. I didn't like it, but I would never presume to believe that the limited knowledge I got of the gaming system in that short time, or those low levels qualified me to make sweeping statements on the entire game system.
Folks like CRPG don't have enough sense to understand that they in fact don't know everything about a game. Or that they may not like the game, but that doesn't make their opinions more qualified than the people that actually play the game.
I know there are some things that I don't like about it, the pathing and polygons being two, but there are alot more things that i do like,
He said that just because you play a trial of a game and don't like it doesn't mean that it is a bad game just because you didn't like it.
And also I think he was trying to reflect on for someone that has only played to level 4, you sure throw out a bunch of stuff as fact that you don't have a clue about, since you never played long enough to do so.

Necro:
Wester"
I hope I got you name right. By your analogy, I have no right to speak in these forums either since I haven't played the game in 2 weeks. Fortunately, MMORPG and the forums that exist here aren't just for elites, but for all people to post as they please and when they please. You have no right to censor him. Also if you read CRPGs post, he did play when the new stuff was installed, but he still didn't like it. If you would read his post, you would see he had seen the new content.
By the way, I'm not a dude.

Here is a trailer for the Fantastic Four:Rise of the Silver Surfer, when you've watched it, perhaps you'd like to give us a FULL REVIEW of the movie! http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/fantasticfourriseofthesilversurfer/

Not being mean here lastera, just telling you how i felt about your "mother us" attempt.
happy Newyear
Turbine needs to hang their head in shame of this shoddey, half-baked MMO that needed more time, and a new dev team to ever float.
Die DDO! Die the death of shame! And each and every 'developer*" that had to do with this game needs to be blackballed for life from MMO development!
Crappiest game ever!
*This includes fanbois of this train-wreck of a "game"
Every fanboi of DDO must be eliminated!!

You can lie on the carpet and scream like a child all you like about how great your "SECOND-COMING" of the game world is about to solve my math homework and the common cold, but the truth is DDO is a train-Wreck. You know this, but refuse to admit it? Odd..guess your just a stupid little fanboi shil?
Hmmm...After much consideration...yes, you are an idiot. Good luck with that.

And that's all you could come up with 'after much consideration'?
Is the word 'fanboi' meant to offend? Is it offensive?
What the hell is a shil?
I don't recall saying DDO was either the 'second coming', could 'cure the common cold' or do your 'maths homework'?
(Though I would suggest perhaps doing your English homework!)

Thanks
Finglin

Always trolls around. Remember people can download the trial for free and try for themselves. Or better yet, ask someone who plays it to let you try it out. I have a number of friends who play now that I have loaned them my account. They finally tired of the relentless grind and raiding in WoW and wanted to see something with a more unique feel.
Heh,
If you haven't played the game, then how do you know what the game is like at different levels?
I played Shadowbane for a periond of about a month, and hated it. Does that mean the game sucks? Well, maybe, maybe not. I didn't like it, but I would never presume to believe that the limited knowledge I got of the gaming system in that short time, or those low levels qualified me to make sweeping statements on the entire game system.
Folks like CRPG don't have enough sense to understand that they in fact don't know everything about a game. Or that they may not like the game, but that doesn't make their opinions more qualified than the people that actually play the game.
I know there are some things that I don't like about it, the pathing and polygons being two, but there are alot more things that i do like,
<shrug>
PinTBC
He said that just because you play a trial of a game and don't like it doesn't mean that it is a bad game just because you didn't like it.
And also I think he was trying to reflect on for someone that has only played to level 4, you sure throw out a bunch of stuff as fact that you don't have a clue about, since you never played long enough to do so.
