I have acquired 1750 favor so I decided to make a 32 point build human palidan. What a wickedly awesome beast this character has become. I am only lvl 5 but I can already see that at the highest lvls there is not much that this guy can't handle. My starting stats: 16 Str 12 dex 12 con 8 int 12 wisdom 16 cha I will be putting all my atribute bonuses into cha as I level My starting feats were UMD specialization and toughness. My level 3 feat is Kopeshes and 6 will be Mental toughness. Lvl 9 imp crit slashing and lvl 12 improved mental toughness. With 3 lay hands at lvl 12 I will be able to fully heal 3 times between rests and do pretty darn good dmg. And the bonus is amazing saves and very high AC.
1. Never put any points to Dex. It's just not worth it and you can always find dex item. You'll be wearing full plate anyway.
2. You always shoot for a 14 with wisdom, but if you are going to put a 12, put the 2 points in Cha for 15.
3. Constitution should always be 14. If you get a Constitution enhancing item of +4, it'll give you 14 HP per level for a total of 168 at level 12. The more HP, the better tank you are.
4. 14 Strength is a decent number and you should only have +15 if you're trying to shoot for Two-Handed Weapon Fighting. Don't play your paladin like a powerhouse. His smite evil and buffs are more than enough to achieve effective damage and attack bonus.
I could be wrong, but the paladin already use healing wands as long as he can cast the spells. Depending your race, you feat should look like this if you're shield-paladin.
1. Weapon Focus: Slashing; (Exotic Weapon: Bastard Sword or Dwarven is a good second feat for a human)
3. Tower Shield
6. Improve Shield Bash (Shield = Blunt weapon, no need for a mace)
9. Improve Critical: Slashing
12. Either mental toughness or Shield Mastery. (It doesn't matter because the paladin has a very limit selection of feats)
Any additional points, you get should go to Strength once you achieve Charisma of 20. Always have Bulwark of Goodness, Resistance of Goodness, and Paladin's Charisma. Lay on Hands is okay if you plan to use it to kill undead or keep yourself alive, but don't try to focus on healing the group. Let the cleric do that. Extra Smite evil is okay as well as Divine Grace. Personally, I rather have Divine grace.
Spell wise, use your heal to heal fallen comrade who are not yet dead and use your buffs to protect or strength yourself. Don't try to be a cleric because you'll run out of spell points quickly. Those spells were meant for you to use on yourself. If you run into multiple undead then use turn undead. If you are fight a evil boss use Smite evil. Playing a paladin could be any simply as tighting your shoe.
