Why do I get the feeling this is a pure troll post. LOL!

Well I am lovign Vanguard and think it's the best MMO to come along in years. It finally brought back that feeling I got from my first MMO and I thought I'd never have that feeling again - Vanguard brought it back. What kills me about some of the haters posting is they are from people whove posted all of one time in this forum? Yea...so how many accounts are some of the trolls will to make in order to hurt this game.
By the way - LoTR is very small and shallow compared to Vanguard in it's current state and is no where near as vibrant and full of life as Vanguard.
Also, I use to be a SOE hater and still am. I love this game though and I think Sigil has done a great job with it and in about 6 months this game will be considered a classic and have a long life ahead of it.
loving vanguard too, and i beta'd lotr and, well, its ddo but a bit bigger lol. it really aint very fun. in any case case, why do these posts keep coming up, when i hate a song i dont email the damn artists or go on his fourms saying it sucks. just put it up as a loss, and move ON.

Vanguard is really good I am at my friends house right now and his system rocks plays the game great. This is the best graphics I have seen in a mmo to date. I wish my system could run it but it wont so I am upgrading. Please dont ditch the game till you have upgraded. The money you spend will be worth it and dx10 and vista are gonna make alot do it anyway.

You bought the lowest end graphics card on the market in the last generation and expect to be able to run *ANYTHING* at reasonable framerates? Your computer is pretty sweet in all honesty, your graphics card is junk. You'd have been better off with a mid range 6x00 series card.
Let me reiterate what I reiterate on my guild forum on a regular basis (who primarily play eq2): Any nvidia card with a 1-4 as the second digit is junk. It's meant for mom and pop who play 3d popcap games not fps, not rts, not mmo.
So let me get this straight...
You paid ~500$ a 2.8ghz core 2 duo You paid ~200-300$ for 2gb of ram You paid ~120 for a motherboard ... and then you decided putting a ~65$ graphics card in there would give you reasonable performance in *ANYTHING*.
You didn't even buy the *GOOD* 7300 you bought the low end one... you couldn't have gotten a worse 7x00 series card if you had tried. I would hope to god you bought a pre-built system and that was the *only* option.
This is exactly my problem with people claiming they have bad performance in something without posting their system specs. You *SHOULD* have horrible performance. If you were playing in EQ2 you would have bad performance. Hell in anything that is reasonably good looking your performance is going to be absolute crap because strange as it may sound... VIDEO card quality makes the biggest difference in VIDEO games. WOW Will run okay on it... not spectacular but not bad either. That's about as good looking as you have hope of being able to play at frame rates that don't look like a slideshow.
When you get some money pick up something in the middle range or high end if you actually are interested in playing video games, that card is absolute junk... taking a quick look at benchmarks on that card on various sites a 6600 low end nvidia card is 92% faster... that's a generation older and a midrange card.... the only slower card even listed on any chart i could find that is reasonably current is a 6200 or the ati equivilent low end card.
So basically, NO-- you shouldn't have been able to run the game effectively on your computer because your graphics card is absolute crap. You shouldn't be able to run oblivion well either.. nor gothic 3... nor eq2 at above balanced... nor any other reasonably modern good looking game at a moderate resolution and graphics settings above "average"/"medium".
Originally posted by Gangster-Man loving vanguard too, and i beta'd lotr and, well, its ddo but a bit bigger lol.
Not really. It lacks the instancing that ddo has... ddo is guildwars with a monthly fee using rules that might approximate dungeons and dragons. Lotro is actually an mmo ... its not just a series of instances... theres a world you can run around and explore and run into other people and squabble over mobs with.
Originally posted by Shastranvidea gforce 7300 le Yes and i suggest not to waste your money on this broken game and wait for LOTR. It can be played at maxed settings at your computer. It's much more stable and bug free. I too canceled my subscription to Vanguard.
LOTRO is a world better performance wise than vanguard is. It's just about as pretty as vanguard, although I think vanguard has better shadows especially through the canopy. That being said... no he couldn't hope to run lotro maxed with a *7300 LE*. As soon as AA/AF/HDR/Bloom came on it would crush his frame rate completely. I have a 7800GT and with everything maxed my frame rate hovers around 20-25 in lotro (but it doesn't spike down and stick and such like vanguard)... and my cards performance is several fold better than his.
Not saying he can't run it and run it well... just not at maxed settings or anything close to them if he wants a framerate over 20.
I caved in and decided to give this game ago. I mean there's some aspects I really like about VG, partically its large selection of classes and races and this huge expansive, interesting world. My first impression was WoW with a more realistic coat of paint. I mean the interface is virtually the same in every way and even the quest system is identical, but then again why invent the wheel WoW did very well in this. Things were going okay with my Mordebi rogue unil I hit lvl 10, then a little part of me died inside. It's grouping beyond that. It's the group or die mentality that annoys the heck outta me, VG obviously favours grouping far more then soloing. Things are virtually impossible to solo beyond that level and there's plenty of dull, repetitive grinding if you don't group.
I'd wish VG would just state its a grouping only game because it truly is. It's gives this wrong impression its solo/casual friendly. Its obvious they want a tasty chunk of WoW's playerbase for themselves but I highly doubt they'll chew much if it's so biased towards groups. That's what's bloody great about WoW, that I can solo to max level through simply questing (no stupid grinding needed unless you're trying to deliberately farm items. At least it isn't shoved down your throat. ) or go duo and still get decent gear. Obviously if I instance I'll get better gear, but the stuff is still decent solo. But, its the beginning and who knows maybe things will change I see alot of promise in this game but if it continues being so casual unfriendly I'll be sad. Cause it's gonna have so much more features then WoW like ship battles etc.
"well after playing for a bit . i must say this is actually the worst mmorpg i ve ever played and that includes some to the free to play ones . its horrible. the control system is all over the place . you feel like your fighting to keep your character moving in the directon you want him or her to go . combat really is inconsistant . the game is bugged to hell . monsters have a tendancy to disapear when your fighting them . the in game graphics are ok but even with my high spec pc i have to run everything on highest performance mode which makes the game look arwful and its still jerky . the character animation is static and akin to the kind of thing you get in some of the free play games like silk road . its like an open beta having said that i ve played better open betas . its brocken unfinnished and unpolished and it would have been better if it had never been released . i feel ripped off . what a shame it had such potential too . . i dont know why anyone would post anything possative about this game unless they had a vested interest in it . SAVE YOU HARD EARNED BUCKS GIVE IT A MISS ."
Basicalloy all of your compaints about Vanguard are only ignorance of the ability of your supposedly high spec system.
1. They made Vanguard full of beautiful graphics , tons of polygons, massive landscapes just a pleasure to behold, but they did all this to allow the game the chance of staying current graphically for more then 6months .....now that being said you can turn options off to make your game experience smoother this game is very advanced graphically and requires a EXTREMELY powerful computer to run it even with balanced settings.
2. Bump mapping and shader effects are very taxing on most computers that the average gamer has you need to understand this before you go shootin off at the mouth about poor performance. Turning these 2 effects down low or right off increase system performance massively
3. Now think about this aswell it is a seemless enviornment.......no real loading ... that emans you need lots of RAM , now that being said 1g of DDR is not alot of ram , you need 2gb + to fully enjoy.
4. If you are an impatient little turd from WOW then don't bother with this game, it is a real challenge not a game you lvl 30 in one day like WOW. It is meant for the more mature of mind who wish to work with people to attain a common goal.
5. I have my work PC DUO core p2.8 2gb RAM DDR2 250GB SATA 2 HD aqnd a Gefore 7300LE( note the LE = that means cheap crap)
my personal machine at home is athlon 3200+ barton with a 6600GT 1gb DDR RAM and a 250 GB IDE hd and my personal machine out performs the work machine......why video card I have a higher end 6000 series then the 7300LE(total crap) card which is more meant for someone business desktop not for high end gaming.
6. it is always amusing when the woefully ignorant get frustrated and post crap like the above.
7. I am extremely impressed with Vanguard the best game to come out in ages , I work in the industry and have tested everything out there for North America this is the true mature MMORPG gamers choice. My hats off to Sigil for the good work. Though I am scared that SOE has anything to do with it , with their pathetic track record for screwing games up PLZPLZPLZ do not let them make policy for you!!! or take any of their suggestions for game content or changes as they plainly do not have aclue of what they are doing and have proved that time and time again.
"Things were going okay with my Mordebi rogue unil I hit lvl 10, then a little part of me died inside. It's grouping beyond that."
I think maybe you misunderstood some of your class abilities possibly, though I ahve not played the rogue yet I have played ranger , Dreadknight and Psionic and each of them can easily solo past 10th. Ranger and Psionic having the easiest time of it. Brought alot of memories of EQ 1 and kiting back what a blast hehe. Maybe you should give it another go as one of the classes I tried. I have seen rogues post 10th soloing quite happily but this is a MMORPG that means it is meant to be played with other gamers or atleast near them

Okay fair enough, I suppose I chose a class that isn't the best at soloing fair enough. Maybe when the game's polished more I'll try the classes you suggested. But the more important point I was trying to make was that if you solo in this game, you're often spent doing stupid grinding alot more. I'm sure as a solo rogue I could grind away at weaker mobs to level beyond 10, but that's not my idea of fun and its an artificial and boring way to level. In fact I'm noticing alot of crappy grinding in this game. I know every MMORPG does it but some are a heck of alot better at making this seem less of a chore. WoW did it right by making levelling alot of more natural through constant questing. I'm just seeing VG as another Raid or Die type of game they need to get themselves out of this mindset if they want to appeal to a wider audience. (Raiders are niche) If want to appeal to the groupers they need to stop saying they're catering to soloers too cause they're doing a crummy job in that department.

True enough Lucifuge , I love my ranger and solo pretty much 80% of the time, but am one of those people thats never in a rush . I dont even look at my Xp bar i just do what i want , go where i want and am having a blast in Vanguard
well theres always some idiot who always bungs up a lot of technobabble to defend some games poor performance even when i said given if you look at the required and recomened specs that a pc such as mine should play it quite well i think you ve proved my point . most people unless they are hard core gamers do not upgrade computers every six monts . they are like me they buy pcs for other functions and your essentially saying that these people ar nt in the vanguard demographic . ....so i guess using this logic no one whos recently brought a mid range peice of kit or someone who has a pc thats a year or two old really should nt even think of playing vanguard ( miminum specs aside ) ... you might not like it but you must admit i have more than a good point ..... its one of two things ... vanguards developers have aimed too high or the game just does nt run very well .
"well theres always some idiot who always bungs up a lot of technobabble to defend some games poor performance even when i said given if you look at the required and recomened specs that a pc such as mine should play it quite well"
Just like there is always some snivvlen twit who thinks because someone knows more about something then themsleves they feel the need to go on showing ignorance ..... fabulous , impressive and again WOEFULLY ignorant what a wonderful combination you got there fella.
Why would game developer produce a game that can run with full graphics on old systems..... that in itself would decrease the shelf life of the game. Sigil is not tryin to attract the troves of mouthy , impatient and immature players from wow with is cartoon graphics they want a more mature crowd. They want their game to be a bit hard to run on your computer so it is not boring to look at in 6 months. They want it to be as new of an experience as possible 12months down the road after you have been playing under Balanced performance. Though I would hope they put out a list of suggestions for the above folks who obviously know little about graphics and system ability. Then maybe less flappin at the lips of the ignorant will go on.
Enough said , I look forward to playing when I get home after work , to all who have an open mind and already enjoying Vanguard happy questing and many loots to you
i basically dont agree with your assement . my card should be able to handle this game at lower resolutions and settings . i still think the problem is at thier end . of course there are better cards out there . but you also have to remember theres a lot of players with even older systems than mine that will have no chance of playing this game . i ve not stooped to personal abuse . it basically goes to show the level of your mentality and lack of social skills ( too much time working with computers and not enough enjoying real life maybe ?).............you ve not addressed my point that if this game does indeed very high spec machines to run it maybe its a mistake because it exclude a lot of players at present . .....if your assement it correct then perhaps its best to advise people not to go by the required specs
Not to mention, "...after playing for a bit..." Instant credibility.
Playing "for a bit" is highly credible. If a game doesn't catch and hold a player's interest in the first hour or two, the problem is with the game, not the player.
i have brought other mmorpgs that hav nt been to my liking like ddo but i did respect it for what it was . hence i never posted any negative reaction on a forum . where as vanguard has just left me with a bad taste in my mouth . i m just glad i ve got my money back . perhaps if your finding problems with it you should kick up a stink with what ever retailer you got it from , not all will refund you but some will . also if the game is not performing well on the required specs if you live some countrys in the e.u. there are laws to protect you if you believe something to not be of merchandisable quality . mind you this is a grey area . but a lot of retailers will refund you if you know your rights .
This game has its bugs. Two of the most frustrating are disappearing mobs (but they reappear if you move around a bit ) and constantly getting stuck (because I'm a dumbass that likes to climb all over rocks and mountains looking for pointless routes to get to the same area a road will take me). In truth, I have never played an MMORPG at launch with so many bugs as Vanguard. However, that being said, this game still freaking rocks! I am having such a great time playing this game. It is the most immersive and beautiful world I've ever been in. Grouping hasn't been difficult at all. Leveling actually takes time. No level 1-12 in one day of gaming like WoW. I have been playing since the weekend, and I am now finally at lvl 13. I love the pacing of leveling because I actually feel like I've accomplished something when I level. There is no contrived feeling at all. It is good to be part of a game where it will take time for most people to reach the level cap. One of the most disappointing experiences I ever had in an MMO was reaching level 60 in WoW and realizing it was nothing special since everyone else was already level 60. I don't detect that will happen with Vanguard. There have been plenty of quests to move me right along. Horses at level 10. Great crafting system. Most players seem really nice and helpful. The game needs to be finished, graphics optimized, bugs fixed, but I am a believer and will be sticking it out for the long haul.

Well, I returned my (2) unopened Vanguard CEs yesterday after an inner debate. I had been researching this game for a couple of years at the vanguardsoh.com forums then here as well since launch. Too many glitches, negative reviews, & such for me to "pay to play" it. Perhaps I'll try Vanguard at a later date when Sigil & SOE have completed the corrections from their rushing of it too soon. However with the myriad of current MMOs now & more releasing, maybe I'll just learn my lesson about Sigil & SOE & their EQing legacy. Till then goodluck in EQ3/Vanguard. Vanguard still has great promise though in terms of concept, but Sigil's & SOE's piss poor execution of Vanguard's introduction is shameful. Those at Sigil & SOE knew very well how unfinished it was before launching it for us players/customers to purchase. I do hope Telon survives & I'm betting it wil thrive eventually. I'll probably give it another look in a couple months. The statements about Vanguard being a game for the future though when it wont even operate properly now seems hollow. We play these games to have fun. If we cannot progress we may not have much fun let alone the problem of not being able to play the game at all. I'm not sure what exact computer requirements are needed to play Vanguard at an enjoyable rate. That would matter upon the player, but having a game where you need seemingly such a higher tier machine might make Telon the first pixel country club for MMOs. If I still played EQ, EQ2, & SWG though I'd probably suffer through Vanguard's current state too since that Station Total Access Pass would be a good value. I left EQ soon after Depths, I only lasted a few months of EQ2, & only a few months of SWG too. So Vanguard begins it's journey down a very similar path that EQ once had, good or bad, I hope we players/customers will be listened too. I plan to keep dabbling in Guild Wars & begining a journey in the much loved & hated WoW since Vanguard's debacle. Again, good luck to those enjoying the postcard-like sights of Telon.

well theres always some idiot who always bungs up a lot of technobabble to defend some games poor performance even when i said given if you look at the required and recomened specs that a pc such as mine should play it quite well i think you ve proved my point . most people unless they are hard core gamers do not upgrade computers every six monts . they are like me they buy pcs for other functions and your essentially saying that these people ar nt in the vanguard demographic . ....so i guess using this logic no one whos recently brought a mid range peice of kit or someone who has a pc thats a year or two old really should nt even think of playing vanguard ( miminum specs aside ) ... you might not like it but you must admit i have more than a good point ..... its one of two things ... vanguards developers have aimed too high or the game just does nt run very well .
Enough said , I look forward to playing when I get home after work , to all who have an open mind and already enjoying Vanguard happy questing and many loots to you
i basically dont agree with your assement . my card should be able to handle this game at lower resolutions and settings . i still think the problem is at thier end . of course there are better cards out there . but you also have to remember theres a lot of players with even older systems than mine that will have no chance of playing this game . i ve not stooped to personal abuse . it basically goes to show the level of your mentality and lack of social skills ( too much time working with computers and not enough enjoying real life maybe ?).............you ve not addressed my point that if this game does indeed very high spec machines to run it maybe its a mistake because it exclude a lot of players at present . .....if your assement it correct then perhaps its best to advise people not to go by the required specs
ie 2.4 gh intel 2400+amd ,512 mb ram vertex pixel shader 2.00 compatible graphics hardware with 128 ram
because the game will not run well even at the lowest settings with this set up or even sytems like mine which are a lot better .
but by the recomended specs
ie intel pentium 3.00 ghz or intel 3500 + amd processor 2gb ram vertex pixel shader 2.0 graphics hardware with 256 mb ram
( i would check other forums to see if it runs well on even this set up because i ve read of people having problems even then )
anyway i ve kicked up a fuss with the people who supplied me the game and i ve got a refund so i m happy now .
exactly glad someone sees sence .
i have brought other mmorpgs that hav nt been to my liking like ddo but i did respect it for what it was . hence i never posted any negative reaction on a forum . where as vanguard has just left me with a bad taste in my mouth . i m just glad i ve got my money back . perhaps if your finding problems with it you should kick up a stink with what ever retailer you got it from , not all will refund you but some will . also if the game is not performing well on the required specs if you live some countrys in the e.u. there are laws to protect you if you believe something to not be of merchandisable quality . mind you this is a grey area . but a lot of retailers will refund you if you know your rights .

My youtube MMO gaming channel
I donno... it's a good review, but the writer really sound like a WoW fanboi.
All in all, everything is VG that is not like WoW, he does not like.
