No doubt about AoC will be one gorgeous game.  The artist are really bringing the Hybonian World to life.   That games graphics are going to blow people away I suspect.  I just hope we all ahve the gaming rigs to handle it in all its glory.   OMG...::faints::  LoTR has some nice environment graphics as well...some of the best.    Vanguard with the right rig looks incredible and I'm loving what they have given us so far.   A few adjustments and refinements to the graphics engine - like going to the UR3.0 and DX10 support would make this game as awesome as AoC.  One thing I wish they would do is add shoreline foam and sea foam or something when water hits an object.   They need to add wakes to ships as well.   They do it in other games...Vanguard should have them too.

Anyway...here is another from inside that lizardsmen lair.   Hehehe...my character stepped on a trap and she lost her stealth and then her life.

Deep down Brad knows he could of had a great game if he had a more in tuned team to work with, as well as having professionals at design , instead of first year graduates. It is great you want to give people a shot, but when it comes to AAA title creation , there is no room for second best . Clearly in these maxed shots we can see the dry world with very horrible lighting.

I know what you are talking about when it comes to the lighting in this game.   I dunno why but when you stand on a ship or are in a house there is no shadows from your character.   Also sometimes the shadow is being cast in the wrong direction which makes the image look weird.   This is defiantely something the graphics people need to address.   If you are going to add complex lighting as this game is suppose to have and shadows and such...then lets see it!   Otherwise I am amazed how good this this game looks on my monitor.   To bad I have no way to duplicate it in a jpg.  that is comrpessed so badly.

    OP

this doesn't seem to be the best picture to use to prove whatever point you are trying to make

    VSOG graphics quality?

the full size picture provided by your link is pretty bad

either the horse has an extreme case of the jitters or the game has a serious jaggies problem

is it safe to assume the issue isn't with your graphics card?

    Cool Post.

You cant post anything good about Vanguard on the forums, you will get ripped apart from people who have never touched the game and never will.

Nope...do you know why jpg's are used on the internet as the primary format?  Because jpg's are easier to manage due to  the fact that they are so heavily compressed.   Vanguard saves the images as jpg's.   I dunno how to get it to save them as tif's.   Then you'd see them as they are.  The only thing is I doubt you'd see the kind of quality I do unless you have a monitor capable of handling extreme res's - like HD.   Plus they'd be huge!  We're talking 10's of megs here.

If anyone here knows how to save an iamge in any other format right from game I'm listening.   Tell me how to do it and I'll gladly start using it.

Best way I know of so far is to do a Prt Screen. That way you can  paste it directly into Adobe Photoshop and save as you like. Otherwords save to clipboard rather than a file

looks like LOTRO on medium graphics settings and texture detail turned to low. I never understood why Vanguard aims to show stuff in the distance at decent quality but completly fails at making anything up close look good.

You don't have to alt-tab out... just exit game...then paste in your paint prog. It will stay in memory as long as you don't do another copy/cut from anywhere.

Intersting that you'd say that considering that in LOTR, other then the environments which Turbine has always excelled at, the character models in LoTR and animations are some of the worst I have seen since AC2.  Vanguard is no AoC, but the models and animations in Vanguard put anything in LoTR to shame.

Don't be an arse.  Prove it.  Post your pics.  Also, the cool thing about art....its subjective.   I don't care for the models and animations in LoTR and in fact if you read what many people say on the LoTR forums regarding them they seem to agree with me.   So we have a difference in taste.   I like Vanguard.   I love it's graphics.   As I said they are not AoC quality, then again Vanguard is not DX10 supported game either as AoC is.

The LoTR character models suck imo.  Vanguard has it beat there.  VG needs to fix the near surface swim animation.  That alone makes VG look like a beta.

The distance rendering in VG is due to the Unreal Engine.  The Unreal Engine is very nice.  Questionable if they can fix it to work in a MMORPG but certainly it makes for a very nice looking game.  When UT2004 came out it was ahead of it's time.

LOTRO looks like one of those winding towel dispensers. You know, the ones that roll around and clean themselves... Except LOTR's cleaner broke and its painted picture looks like shit all the time.

Ummm...those are environment shots.  I said LoTR has great environment graphics.   They always have done a good job with that.  AC2  proved that.   Now show us the best close up of a character.  I'll do one of mine and we'll compare images.   :)

If you think that is impressive it gets better. I have a P4 3.4 GHZ, 2GB DDR2 and a 7600 .... 50-60 fps flat at those settings. In comparison: Vanguard 10-15 fps at balanced (translate: ugly) settings. It's not just the quality of the graphics but the detail that does it. I mean check out that first VG pic ..... empty screenshot except some stuff in the far distance. LOTRO screens are filled with life and detail.

That's not an actual screenshot. That was concept art that Turbine has shown us during beta. Sorry, but I've been a LOTRO beta player ever since the Pink Alpha Faries were in and you can't fool a LOTRO player of your false character detail shots. Try again and this time do a screenshot like we all are doing and show us your character.

Same with your environment shots. They are not only shots taken by Turbine, but also they have been doctored for advertisement. If you are going to show off LOTRO I would STRONGLY suggest you do it with shots of your own. So that way people can see what gamers see. LATER
