.......Nino clarifies the 100k figure as 'boxes sold', not subscribers. Pretty tough for there to have been a subscriber count when everyone is in their free month don't you think?
Let me beging by saying I bought a "box" and gave my buddy key away. I played until level 20 and cancelled because of all the reasons listed on the "vanguard sucks threads". One month later I tried the game again and of course all my players and alts where there. I realized quickly.... again.... that the game is awful and I cancelled again. So right out the gate, the character numbers reported in a prior post are wrong because 5 of those characters are mine and are not being played.
I absolutely agree that boxes sold has nothing to do with calculating the number of ACTIVE accounts other than to provide the ceiling. There is simply no way to know how many of those boxes that were sold actually are still playing.
You're right boxes sold isn't subs. Boxes sold is 200k potential customers. Most of those people that baught the game had some prior interest in playing it. It's SoE's goal to try and get as many of the 200k that aren't subbed to try the game again; as well as entise new players. 200k is a great foundation to build a player base off of. SoE isn't going to look at it and say, "meh, only 40% of the 200k are still playing; not worth it." NO! Thier businessmen; not idiots.
Ceiling? If SoE can get some of the people that baught the game to come back and resub, odds are those people will end up getting other people to sub. More people will be talking about the game in a positive manner, and NEW people will give it a shot.
I'm beginning to notice that the people that take the time to paint this game in as much bad light as they can are playing LoTRO. I'm not suprised that they didn't like VG. Each game is like a polar oposite of the the other; they are designed for two different markets.
Instead of cramming that same tired blanket statement that the game isn't FUN, why don't some of you give examples of ways to make it fun. I'll even start a thread for you guys.
Ok last time im gonna post this, this thread was made in FEBRUARY! the 100k subs were a factual number. Now not so much, so please stop beating a dead thread!

I was going to say something of the same, but I thought that if I was just going to bump the thread up I might as well say something.
No one cares about you guys not liking the game. im not gonna quit cause some people like everything easy and given to them. Dont want to play a game where you can get top lvls in a week. If ya dont like the game become a programmer and make your own, or spend your time here crying about the sad state of all the games out there. I think Vanguard is awesome and a fresh ray of light to MMOs. Game looks and plays awesome. No grind here because I love to explore and see all the new stuff. No game is perfect and all have bugs because they are made by people. People arent perfect and I dont expect em to be. If ya dont like the game thats fine no one cares just quit, but its like the kid crying and screaming in the store that cant have what he wants, he gonna try to make everyone else miserable since he cant have what he wants. Make sure you shut the door when you leave
Gotta love those canned responses...

Funny how his opinion is the right one and everyone that likes the game is miss leading.
Well, someone saying "I like the game, warts and all, and am having a great time" is not misleading.
Saying, "I don't like the game because of "X", "Y" and "Z" reason and so I've decided it's not for me" is not misleading...
Those are both valid opinions and no one is going to (or shouldn't) knock them.
However... when SOE and the game's developers have come out and openly said "Yes, the game has performance issues and needs optimization" and yet some people are still saying "You just have a really crappy computer, the engine is fine".. *That's* a misleading comment - because it goes directly against official statements by the developers themselves. Not that the "the engine sucks"/"Not it doesn't, it's your PC" argument has happened (yet) in this thread, but it's been in plenty of others, so it's a good example.
In the context of subscription numbers... Some people will be quoting estimated characters.. some will be quoting subscriptions as of a certain point-in-time.. Some people will simply make something up off the top of their head. If the numbers aren't verified, current and legit (as in, determined by a qualified, non-partisan group of people) but are being touted as such, then that is, indeed, misinformation.

WoW's numbers are misinformation then. They weren't posted by a qualified, non-partisan group of people, but are being touted by Blizzard themself.
This game is a disgrace, bug ridden mess, boring as hell, its a ghost game, let it rest in peace, game makers learn from this, don't release games that are no where near ready.
Many new games are incoming, so do like I do, laugh when you hear the name Vanguard, its a train wreck,,,chug chug chug!!!

Though that said AoC beta testing period looks extensive and the community mostly listened to. UNless someone wants to go "no way!" to that....
