Because the LORE wasnt create that way, when they made the first warcraft they maybe didnt thought that far ahead, and most of the fantasy games are taken from early europe myth, ppl from europe are pretty light skinned, i bet african lored games have a lot more dark nuances to them, since the LORE and the THEME fits, but most games have dark skinned characters anyway, look at the orcs and dark elves of L2, the night elves are not really white are they? even green ppl is represented in WoW (lol)... Guildwars got loads of diferent skin colors, the only games who dont have much of a choice are those based on already existing lore that are based on celtic/european legends.

despite VSOH being a crappy game, i did appreciate the "ethnic diversity" of the character pallete that you had to choose from. heck you even had the option of creating what seemed to be a "arab" looking character which is based from Qalia continent. that I will give them major brownie points on.
and as far as russia winning the war, thats debateable. they didnt defeat the nazis single handely. In their country? yeah they did. did america win the war hands down? no, i think everyone had equal take in taking down the nazis. However Americans did make the most direct push for germany itself with Normandy, operation market garden(failed offensive known as hells highway),operation paperclip, operation herring, operation hurricane, and numerous other battles on the ground and in the sky that weakened or otherwise crippled the Nazi machine its own territory.
what russia did very well was protect its own country from nazi invasion and used it climate and geography to its advantage to weaken the nazi regime during its invasion, alot of the rules, and tactics that worked for the nazis in western europe didnt translate well in cold russia climate and geography. so ill give them credit for that.

What you aren't understanding is that these games aren't based on REAL Life Races. Guild Wars has different ethnic races because their LORE has them. Same thing with Vanguard. Their LORE has different ethnic races.
Games like LOTRO and WAR do not have LORE that has an asian or an african theme. So why would they have characters that look like that. You can't just include them just because. It has to fit into the world the creator made. In these cases LOTRO has to fit into the world that Tolkien created and WAR will need to fit into the world that Games Workshop created. Neither of these worlds have diversity in the human characters. Their human characters are based on Anglo-Saxon Europeans.
Would you get upset if a movie was made all about vikings and their were no african looking people as vikings? No of course not because that would be rediculous. The object is to make the game as close to the LORE and THEME of the world you are basing it on.
