Athelan please don't forget my questions, they are on the bottom of page 14.
As for lutefisk, I'm from Sweden and we have it here too (called lutfisk). My parents sometimes make it for christmas, and I've tried it. It's not lovely and the texture is a bit like mucus. I don't find it appalling but there are quite a few things I'd rather eat.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to answer some questions here!
I watched a gameplay movie on a norweigan gaming site, and I understand that to do the different close combat attacks, you either have to click a dial on your screen, or you can bind specific keys to the different directions. This raises some concerns for me. Primarily I would like to know if there are other alternatives to controling the combat than those mentioned? I was hoping for a system not unlike Oblivion and many other action rpgs where you swing in the direction you are walking (thus eliminating the need for extra button binds).
Further, I am hoping to play using my FPS setup, which makes me wonder how much you can customize your keyboard/mouse actions? Most MMO's lock down the mouse buttons for certain functions, which bothers me because I use them to move (yes I know, it's an odd setup). I have yet to find one that lets me set things up just the way I want.
Thanks for your time.
From what I've been told one of the setups the devs like best is the
123
qwe
asd
(q123e for attacks, wasd to move)
Though its been said you can rebind any of the keys, not so sure about mouse

That 5* attack mode each with it's unique key scares me a little, not sure how well I'll adapt to it. Of course I like a more complicated combat, but when I first heard about it I thought more along the lines of Oblivion (use movement keys to alter direction). What about defensive moves though? I suppose one defensive manouver is the doubletapping, dodging etc. but what about parry or block, how does that work? I heard shields were automated or something, same for swords/weapons?

There's my post again. I understand you can't answer everything, and I appreciate very much the things you do answer. It's very nice to see devs that are in touch with their community.
Hello Athelan, here i am again to plague you with some more questions.
Hmmm as i heard melee attacks will require stamina and so does running, won't this be a real pain for the hybrid mages? talking about herald of xotli and lich here, as they focus their main damage comes from melee (assumption okay, but from what i've read so far that's my conclusion) won't that make them sort of a weak melee class and a weak mage class combo running out of stamina sooner then melee warriors okay logic can't make them equally for obvious balance reason but still, just something i worry about.
Will there be some sort of crowd control spells? so far i only read about a fear spell that HoX get at a higher level.
About pet classes, i played an engineer on ao and in pvp i'm kind of scared of using pets in PvP, they get stuck, respond to slow can be kited easly, the pathing has been improved that i have no doubt of but still the response time and how really effective they are in pvp or has the pet class now more offensive/defensive tricks up their sleeves when something similair happens?
and last but not least the game is suppose to come out around 30 october or a few days later, not sure if IGN is making up things again or not but looking at their site pc.ign.com/objects/743/743392.html
Can you please tell us how the classes are going to function in pvp/pve? Will they have strict roles depending on their archetype or they will be more flexible?
If you don't mind i'll try to answer this, no class has a specific roles they can all take on multiple roles in a team
as for example healers aren't healers as you know in other games in AoC they use HoT's instead of direct heals, that gives them the chance to use other offensive(DoT's for ex) / defensive spells and the time to actully attack, so you got no 'solid' role that increases your chances of teaming up with others aswell as being viable in PvP as solid roles puts you in limited position.
I believe they pretty much put some real effort and time into balacing out the classes.
anyone feel free to correct me if i said anything wrong.

I doubt that question is even answerable because of its vagueness...
If you pop over to the AoC forums, you'll find a lot more solid info, but there is no such thing as a healbot priest and mages will NOT be spamming nukes...
Expect combat to be racially different as combat is the main #1 break with MMO convention they have been working on

My question is about Player Cities. Your company has stated they will be instanced which is great IMO. How many player cities will there be in your particular instance?. Will we be able to choose who we have in our instances?. How is this system going to be handled? (I'm looking for a lot of details here lol )
Not sure if someone asked this, didn't have time to read so I just made an account.
How big is the world exactly? Its not going to have a complete non epic feel like WoW did will it? I really hated how WoW had everything surrounded by mountains and the very confined feeling of it all. How large of a world we talking here? I am used to Asheron's Call sized games

There is also this topic here that explains a bit more too where statistics where found with quotes
Can you clarify/confirm at what level can you get your PRESTIGE CLASS (Lord/Commander/Crafter/Master)? I've see quotes from ByMitra here that states 20 based on replies from Funcom. In the list of quotes here at conan.ch, it says 40.
I can't answer everything and won't pretend I will be able to.
My page numbers are not the same as yours as I changed my posts per thread to show on a page
np, my question was on zones. How big will they essentially be? How subtle will changing zones be (instant like Oblivion/load screen)? Can one see activity from one zone to the next? Will there be chokepoints which may be used for camping? And what about people evading death or pvp by jumping zones, is it possible?
Btw I saw the latest (I believe) video where you showed some guys combat with a barb. Now I like blood too, but will it get reduced somewhat, it also looked a little thin, I'd like it thicker and darker! Gladiator, arena style, maybe? ^^
Oh and what about defensive manouvers, you can tap twice as I heard, but parry is automated or do we get a block key?
I thought of another question that I have not read anything about anywhere.
How will grouping work for characters with a larger gap in levels?
I ask because I have a clan with a lot of different types of players, from casual to hardcore. We were in WoW for a short time but since it basically does not cater to grouping with different levels at all, we ended up not playing much together. This is sad, because playing with the clan is the main reason I play any online game.

They have stated that there will be a system close to that of the sidekick system in City of Heroes. You will be able to invite lower level players to be your ally ( or whatever there going to call it) and they will be bumped up to your level.
Looked through thread and some other active topics, AoC site wasn't very helpful. My question is to anyone who would know, are NPC's static? or do they roam about the day going about there tasks such as delivering the daily supply of grain to town X? Maybe a mix, if so can you kill npc's out of town and steal there goods? such as a wandering trader with some bodyguards?
I think many static npc's and npc's with just a set walk path and no sense of task takes a lot away from the immersion of a game and i hope this isnt the case in AoC.

When can we expect some info with official proofs about above and about ballance between classes. If there is already info and someone found it link it please .

Answering generalities about classes is not really possible because everything is prone to change during beta.
The pet classes are not solely pet related its only a portion of their output.

Healers are supposed to heal over time and DPS
A lot of the DPS classes like the Herald of Xotli and such can also off tank as well as DPS, and the Guardian can do decent DPS as well as tank.
There is a loading screen between areas
The average large zone is a few kilometers per side I believe.
