First of all... Warhammer came FIRST, by decades.

Warhammer has been around a LONG time, and so Warcraft is a cartoony Warhammer clone.

Obviously the OP never even went into a comic book shop and seen the Warhammer figurines (painted and unpainted). Warhammer practically invented the gonzo style seen in WoW and the warcraft franchise!

Ya it was the other way around, Warhammer came first with the art then Wow with the graphics... unfortunately. Personally I enjoy asian style graphics and character design much more. Oversided, ugly, brutish, disporportioned characters are not my thing.

Tried: Vanguard, UO, Rappelz, Archlord, RF Online, SWG, WAR, Ryzom, Anarchy Online, AC, APB, STO, Perfect World, Black Prophecy...

Played: EQ,EQII, Lineage, Lineage 2, GW, EVE Online, AoC, DoAC, iRO, AC2, WoW, SWTOR, Runes of Magic, Allods, Rift..
    Currently Playing: Tera

Unfortunately, people who haven't played any MMORPG aside from WoW think Blizzard invented the genre. They're going to think everything is a "WoW clone," simply by way of it being an MMO.

OMG it have elfs and dorfs! They copyed that form WoW!

Please please please, don't tell me you like that crazy arsed androgynous look. Granted it's cute for the more cartoony MMOs like Ragnarok Online, but not for anything that's suppose to be more realistic. Then again, I'm very picky on my manga/anime styles. I prefer the work of the team that did the Patlabor tv series, movies, and manga over most of the work out there today.

Depends what your association on what a sissy looks like. I think they look much more powerful then those silly little orcs in WoW or even the Greenskins in Warhammer. But that is because I watch anime and you always know the skinnest dude is gunna kick everyone elses ass.

    http://us.games-workshop.com/games/warhammer/default.htm

Warhammer's art style is old old old. I used to play the table top game when I was a teenager.

So far as I can tell the game devs are staying true to the games workshop art style.

    Yeah, I'd do Betty....
But I'd be thinking about Wilma.

for the people saying WoW came before Warhammer, here's the timeline (not giving dates, just order)

Dungeons and Dragons the role-playing game -> Warhammer the role-playing game -> Warcraft -> various Warhammer and Warcraft video games (probably about 10-15 together) -> World of Warcraft -> Warhammer Online

that's the easiest way i can put it so Warhammer came before Warcraft which came before WoW which came before WAR...happy?

"As far as what otherwise might have influenced Tolkien, the OED lists a 1656 use (see below) of an English word ‘orke’ in a way reminiscent of giants, ogres and the like. It is presumed that such usage (orke=ogre) came into English via fairy tales from the continent, especially from Charles Perrault (17th cent. France), who himself borrowed most of his stories (and developed his 'ogre') from the 16th century Italian writers Giovanni Francesco Straparola and Giambattista Basile. (Straparola [c. 1440–c. 1557] has been credited with introducing to Europe the literary form of the 'fairy tale'.)

Basile (d. 1632) wrote in the Naples dialect (though Naples was, at that time, controlled by Spain), claiming simply to be passing on oral folktales from his region that he'd collected over the years. In at least a dozen or more tales, Basile used 'huorco' (or 'huerco', 'uerco') which is the Neapolitan form of ‘orco’ [modern It. ‘giant’, 'monster'] to describe a large, speaking, mannish beast (hairy and tusked) that lived away in a dark forest or garden, and that might be evil (capturing/eating humans), indifferent or even benevolent - all depending on the tale. (See especially his tales Peruonto and Lo Cuento dell'Uerco.)

But the 1656 English use of 'orke' (forty-one years before Perrault published his Mother Goose tales) comes from a fairy-tale by Samuel Holland entitled Don Zara, which is a pastiche and parody of fantastical Spanish romances like Don Quixote, and presumably is populated by beasts and monsters common to them. (Note: Straparola was translated into Spanish in 1583. Independent of this, there is in Spain to this day the folktale of the ‘huerco’ or ‘güercu’, which is a harbinger of impending death; a shade in the form of the person about to die.)"

This is from wikipedia, I really dont think warhammer invented orcs and crap.  But like it or not the game is a world of warcraft clone, same combat mechanics, same character types, tiny tiny bit better graphics.  Its even guided by EA whose been trying to steal people from WoW for a long long time.

Right about Warhammer not making up Orcs.

Wrong about War being a WoW clone. Oh and where the hell do you come up with the bull "Ea has been trying to steal players from WoW for a long time"? Like every other MMO developer wants to have a subscription base like that. If you think it's just EA your obviously very delusional.

here's my opinion, while alot in WAR may look like or even be heavily influenced by WoW, it is not WoW and it is not WoW's clone...and the PvP in WAR generally says that...but Warhammer came before Warcraft altogether so where did it all start? just because WAR is coming way after WoW, doesn't mean that it's a WoW clone...Warcraft may have copied ideas from Warhammer when it was first created back in the 90's...ever think of that? no, i didn't think so...
