Our game was just beginning, albeit it was a frustrating start but it was nevertheless a very exciting time.
The first two years went by so quickly, yet the last two have gone by at a snail's pace.
I tip my hat to Lowca and the many fine memories she gave me.
I'll have a drink tonight for everyone who was there in SWG's early days.
/Cheers

I feel ya mate. This day four years ago, I was cursing and raising my fist to the high heavens because I couldn't get online due to the damned server problems. I had quit the fun time on Tarquinas, and made a few friends in the process. It's a shame SOE/LA with their crappy vision ruined a game so many have loved.
Tonight, I will pour some out for my homies.
A Requiem For Argos, now available at e-book retailers.
Here's to Intrepid.
Here's to all the eDrama of the righteously egotistical entertainers (especially on the Intrepid board), the massive organized events like GrooveFest, the Wookiee Cultural Museum by Moya, the huge battles, the little battles, the moron Jedi dueling in Theed in broad daylight, the disgusting amount of bols I killed, the RIS quest in the mountains of Dantooine, the shop we ran selling everything but weapons and food...
And here's to you, Kristie. You will never, ever be forgotten, and every day you will be missed. You were everything to Devitt. (No, they're not dead, just the characters. Thanks, SOE and LA.)
There's a sucker born every minute. - P.T. Barnum
Here's to Bloodfin and to Daddar, who but two weeks later was TKM and destroying all the rebel n00bs in anchorhead with glorious one shot kills. And also the hundreds of players on both sides which made the server the most fun I'd had in a MMO in a very long time.

Bria ftw.
I'll raise a drink for Euro-Chimera and the citizens of Aexon Beach (as well as many others).
We were hell of a city, with strong community. Wherever you are, whatever you do, you'll always be in atleast my memory.

Those where they days..
was on bloodfin myself and had tons fo fun
Yes....those indeed were the days.
Listening to l337 d00d power gamers demand loot drops, easier Jedi Access, cry about everything and anything that could give them yet another precious inch to their epeen. Watching no life Thespian gamers form Twilek sex slave guild after Twilek sex slave guild and practice cyber in every cantina in /say mode. Enduring total Asshats that insist on filling every inch of every planet with cities named FUnkytown that were full of whorehouses.... yes those were the days, of dicklick jedi-wannabes macro camping to their no life’s hearts content.
What ruined SWG? The dumbass power gamers, and SOE for listening to said dumbass power gamers. Honestly the community is better today because while NGE does suck, it got rid of 99% of the biggest problem of the game yes that's right... the l337 d00d Asshat power gamers. Are there less players now? Yep, but most of the current fan base are actual Star Wars fans that left during the first year due to the aforementioned issues. I get a charge watching the no life’s cry about days gone by, as long as they keep crying and not come back I'll be good.
harsh words Martin, harsh words.
Cheers to the old days, where in the VERY beginning, everyone just HAD to get a full set of composite armor
To Kettemoor and TTR (Ten Tree Ridge) who found me and got me walking, showing me around and how the game worked, we crushed alot of imps and made alot of friends two thumbs up to the mature community which alot of games lack today.
I remember getting my bone armor and i thought that it was the best thing around and when I was given a house for free and a spot in the city I almost wet my pants and it was great to feel like a part of a community where I actually matteret and wasnt just another name in the guild list.
Charisma, Meteora, Tepic Isbian, Lushian I will never forget you guys for making the game so much more fun. Good luck with what you all are doing, and (middle finger) to SOE you money thirsty betraying sons of &*(^%$.
Im sorry if I forgot someone because it has been so long.

Yep, good times. I made a Brawler on Starsider, and met up with a guy that wanted to start a PA of only Brawlers. Just as we started to get the ball rolling, his computer died and he was MIA for 2 months or so. I ended up joining another PA and the rest is history.
The old Brawler PA was The Sword Brethren, and the guy who disappeared ended up being the Fencer correspondent for quite some time. I think the PA is still active on Starsider, but I'm not sure. I moved on to another server and didn't look back.
Harsh but true none the less. While I do prefer the mechanics of the game before, I enjoy the fact that the current community is a close knit group of SW fans and that there is actually a story, not just two idiot NPC standing by a flag. The people that miss that are those that didn't want a SW MMO they wanted a aquistion simulator.
And yet with all of these complaints I bet you played every day for 2 years, and if given a choice I bet you would choose pre-CU all over again. Even if it was full of those l337 d00d's.

List of SOE lies
Actually I play more today, simply because the game isn't lousy with Asshat l337 d00ds. And the thing is SOE doesn’t want that community back either as the new community is steadily growing, is more mature and less whiney. That’s mainly because SOE made SWG about Star Wars something they should have done from the get go. So I am a happy Veteran/beta tester and there are a lot more out there like me.
We like the direction SWG is going we like the new content, Lucas has brought the whole Jedi thing back to at least a plausibility in the current time scheme and will continue to fit it with the upcoming T.V. series, Missions are fun and have a Star Wars feel, and the only time I have to deal with the whiney Pre NGE power d00ds is when I come here to laugh at them.
SOE/Lucas gave SWG back to the Star Wars fans….it’s time for you guys to climb off the cross build a bridge and get over it.
www.kleenex.com, clicky provided just for you.
Short sighted perception is a bad thing. Honestly the community isn't any different than it was "back in the day." At all. The only thing different now is that you pro-NGE folks have a common "enemy" in veterans, and therefore a community to look down upon for simply venting about a game.
I find it hilarious you're here talking shit about l337 d00ds when you're essentially acting like one.
Nothing personal, just think about what you're saying.

Telling people with seriouse emotional dispare because of a game chnage to get over it isn't actng like a l337 d00d it's good advice that should be taken.
And you're still beta-testing. But at least you're enjoying it. You're in denial about everything else anyway, so I guess it doesn't much matter. What was gained, really? They added quests, something they could have easily done under the old model. What was lost? Everything you did before the NGE was implemented. SOE flat-out told you to get lost, and the fact that you didn't makes all your little words just that - little. Your "good advice that should be taken" translates into "roll over and take up the can".This thread started out to be a toast to the old times - the GOOD times. Leave it to NGE fanboys to ruin it.
There's a sucker born every minute. - P.T. Barnum
Ahh, here's to my memories on Ahazi, and all those people that made it truely amazing! *sniff*
Twin Suns, you may still be around but I miss you how you used to be. Bustling with players, a filled cantina, lively guild chat. Now it's like playing alone in a ghost town, seeing only 10 or 12 people online on the whole server.
Here's to all those people! *clink*
Perhaps this calls for a "l33t d00d" checklist?
Condescending attitude.. check.
Nagging presence where unwanted.. check.
Incessant inflammatory remarks.. check.
Desire to flame.. check
Overgeneralization.. check.
Grammatical incorrectness.. hard to say. I've seen considerably worse.
And the most important one..
Denial.. check.
The fact is that EVERY game has "good ol days." SWG is no exception, though it's "old days" are actually quite the difference in game play. Yet you don't see those threads getting flamed... of course, only a very few other games in the history of gaming have had their communities torn apart, and none moreso violently than SWG.
Honestly, while it's wrong for vets to trounce and derail threads belonging to SWG current players, there's at least some rationale there: they're genuinely pissed off customers who feel ripped off. Current players who respond to the grumps, or are just looking to pick a fight, have no rationale at all. You guys want to "defend the game" under some delusion that your flames will actually help the situation and somehow promote the game. I hate to sound like an ass, but this attitude makes a number of you guys look like completely unwitting tools through action. There's no high horses in the Star Wars galaxy.

And all the other guys i was friends with but not guilded my NS and Krayt killing buddies Joni and Jerb'in.
I wish those days would return sadly they aint and i still cant find a MMO to ever replace SWG.
SWG was like that first love who moved to another town no matter how much you try to forget her you always find your mind thinking what if
I didn't exactly play hooky from work, but I did take off as soon as was practical. I almost didn't get in that first night because I didn't preorder a copy of the game. Luckily, the Gamestop on the way home had one last copy of the CE. Yes!
Got home, ate dinner while feeding the CDs through the installation. Apparently, there were problems signing up earlier in the day, but by the time I got home (Pacific time) it must have been more or less ironed out because I got in to Starsider just fine. However, all the shuttles from the tutorial to Tat, Corellia, and Naboo were cut off due to population. I started on Rori instead, with 250 credits, a surveying tool, and a buddy waiting for me in Keren. Undaunted and knowing that there would be many fellow noobs itching to embark on a rifleman career, I surveyed just outside of Restuss for some copper and fiberplast, cranked out some nasty (in a bad way) CDEF rifles, and put them up on the bazaar for 100 credits each. Before too long, they had sold and I had enough for my ticket to Naboo. Once there, my buddy and I got started on building our economic empire.
A week later, the rest of my guild had been unable to get onto Starsider due to server caps, so we rerolled on a new server. But damn me if we didn't enjoy doing it all over again.
Why would he need a kleenex when its the supposed 'vets' from 2 years ago that cry all the time?
I mean, you don't see him starting posts saying 'lets cry about the old days' do you?
Who are you confusing him with?
good game
