I know people ask this all of the time but is WoW still on top not just for population but for gameplay? (not saying it is or ever was the best game known to man.)
Comments
Yes, it is the best MMO game in the world. Just face facts.
If your on a good server and know how to enjoy yourself with other people then it makes all the difference in the world.
Ive played alot of MMO games, and I cannot get away from WoW.
Heh I hope so because when I get it I hope 90% of the population doesn't leave for AoC or WAR
90% of the population will not leave immediately. And I am quite certain that this game will have a steady population for years and years to come.
The 800 pound gorilla will look more like a cuddly chimpanzee by the end of next year. It will still be a strong game but the true impact of the BC will become apparent when WAR is released. Right now it's not as noticeable as there simply is no alternative for players but no worries .... it's coming!
Yes I will definatly leave for WAR its just until then i need something to hold me over and I am alreafy familiar with this game so its not like I will be surprised with anything.
Or it will simply smash Warhammer in the same way it did Vanguard, Guildwars and the rest.
Both AoC and WAR, in my opinion, are overrated. You will be suprised how not succesful both of them will be. Those''bla bla wow beater'' games just don't exists.
While I can agree on AoC in this case I'm notsure how WAR is overrated?
It's the same basic foundation as WoW but with PvP as major focus rather than PvE
Can't be that bad..?
Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
It all sucked.

I think I am talking for most AoC fans here when I say, we would prefere NOT to have a wow community in AoC. That is a type of player community and mindset we can do without, so please stay with wow and war.
I'm not saying that anything is definitely gonna beat WoW down anytime soon...but don't underestimate WAR. If mythic sticks with the professional dedication that they had with DAOC, WAR is gonna be one hell of a game.
Out of all the MMO's I've played, DAOC was one of my favorites. It's the only one that held me for several years. The best any of the others ever did was hold me for 6 months at most. In fact, the only thing that killed DAOC for me was when everyone got tired of it after several years and left for WoW and EQ2 etc. and so on. When I had no guild left to play with, and didn't feel like getting to know a new guild, thats when I got bored.
I'm curious to see what WAR does.
D.

Actually, you are the kind that is a member of the World of Warcraft community. I think there is nothing wrong with WoW, though I do not play it. World of Warcraft has several kinds of community members. The childish ones, like you, and the ones who say what other people say so the look ''cool'', also like you.I think I am talking for most AoC fans here when I say, we would prefere NOT to have a wow community in AoC. So any mmorgp without 8mil subs is a failure? hardly. I'm pretty sure both AoC and WAR (WAR for sure) will be succesful, meaning somewhere around 500k-1mil subs. They wont touch WoW ofc, but still succesful.

If you have no intention to read a post, dont post anything. Also, I'm quite sure both AoC and WAR will reach 8mln subsribers.
this is the 5TH time i have said this now. this has been discuss a hundred times before. the only thing that will kill wow is time its inevitable who knows when that will be.
wow isnt all that great anyway. there all better games out there. the only thing wow does it make you spend alot of time in it. thats why so many people like it.
I remember when EQ2 was released, the press released stated that the game was the 800 pound gorilla of MMOs.
Funny how things turn out.
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

Still a raiding game.
90% of it player base just doesn't realize it...yet. Those which did, they already left.

Or maybe they're in the battlegrounds, like me and my mates are every weekend.

How can I read something you didn't typed. I'll no longer respond on your quotes, as this is leading nowhere.

Exactly, considering I never said I was part of the wow community, yet you implied I was...
Sorry to sound like a stickler but try and stay on topic.
I don't beleive there are so many pure PvPers out there. Also, will WAR release in Asia? If not that instantly means 50% of WoW population will not even be touched.
Even people who support WAR think it will be with 500K-1M population, which are also my expectations. So, about the topic - Yes, I think WoW will remain the biggest player around.
btw, those comments about WoW community are pure crap....if I ever saw a problem - there is ignore. The fact that the above guy who "spits" on wow comunity never played more than the 14 day trial tells much.
Neither game has even been released yet, precious little is known about them, and yet you think they'll have 8 million people playing them? Each?
To be honest, I'd be surprised if both of them put together even manage half that much.
