Hello truenorth, I just got done looking through all the mods' recent history, as well as the recent history of the WAR forum. I don't see the bright green lettering, and the posts deleted were either offtopic, against our RoC, or broke the NDA (farther back). Can you please email me more specifics on your issue? community@mmorpg.com
the staff writers do not have moderation powers, and do not have any effect on how the moderators work. In fact, staff writers can and have been warned or suspended. Kraiden's posts in WAR are no reflection on the MMORPG.com moderation staff

Why should I waste my time disputing that?
D ... E... K... R...O...N - when he reports something, you can expect it to get banned. Regardless, if the staff writers influence or do not influence how moderators work (which any reasonable person knows they do) some one is deleting WAR Topics.
I would even further say that when some one, who a moderator likes, reports a post, topic, thread, or member, the moderator is more likely to take some form of action. It might be a suspension. Thread lock. Or thread deletion. And when you are suspended, you cannot dispute the grounds for the suspension (or why your Topic was deleted) because it is policy to conceal these discussions through email. We have this small thread, but obviously a suspended account cannot post here.
The moderation, as one person said, has become random. You can harass and flame certain games (Vanguard) with no consequence but risk a ban, suspension, thread lock, or thread deletion in other forums (WAR). If you are critical on certain political issues, you are at risk of being suspended and/or banned for no other reason than some one (such as Dekron) is offended.

As the person who makes and posts the rules, I can assue you, there's no "Listen to X" rule, with X being Dekron or anyone else except Admin If Dekron's reportees get warned/suspended, it's because they broke the rules. Maybe Dekron is good at pointing out rule breakers.

To be honest, I think that is where the bias is. He is an avowed former moderator, he let's us know this each time he posts. I think some moderators (maybe one, or two) are as a consequence more likely than not to give some one like him the benefit of the doubt.
He, using him as an example of reporters who have more credence with moderators, is one among many other issues that are wrong with the quality, consistency, and fairness of moderating here.

That's a bunch of BS. If you have such a major problem with my sig saying "retired mod" then I will be more than happy to remove it. Since you seem to be the all-mighty know-it-all, maybe you should ask Taera how many actual posts I have reported since I quit being a mod. It's been a whopping 3. One for the guy who kept trolling threads with "i hate/despise/feel sorry for/etc americans" posts, another for referral links and I believe the last for a random flame.
Click my name and review my post history and please tell me where I have been reminding you I am a former mod in every post I have made. Please do so you can make an ass of yourself. The only thing about me being a mod is in my sig, which states, "retired mmorpg.com mod". That's it. And I placed it in my sig when I quit and it still showed that I was staff when I was not. It was simply informative showing that I was no longer a mod and I have yet to remove it.
And, so you know, most of the mods now are fairly new and hardly knew who I was so I wouldn't have anymore bearing than anyone else. In fact, I am more than willing to have Taera share with you the warning I have already received since becoming a regular old member again. It was for flaming and calling someone an asshat. So, it would seem I receive no special treatment in either reporting or posting.

I'll throw in my $.02 here, as well. Most of us that have been here for years have known Dekron as both a mod and as a regular poster.
I never seen or heard of Dekron abusing his position or showing favoritism to anyone else while he was a mod. And as a poster, I have to say he's one of the more reserved of us, as far as flaming and such.
Myself, i have reported quite a few people during my time posting here, mostly goldseller spammers and some posters who repeatedly resort to personal attacks as their only way of arguing a point. In fact, the one Dekron refers to in his above post who was flaming Americans with no real argument but just to flame, I reported as well. And he was the first one I've ever reported from the off topic section, as far as I can recall.
I've never been a mod here, and most likely never will ( my ability to curb my tongue is not very well developed). but I will say that being a mod here, from what I've seen, has never been an easy job, and with the new rules, it's even harder. As far as mods abusing their position/playing favorites, i can't tell you if they are or not. But I can say, that coming out here naming names, without anything other than your conjecture as proof, does not lend you alot of credibility or support, truenorthbg.
I know what you are referring to, and what you consider "flaming Americans" is not what many Americans considered "flaming Americans." It is important in a democracy to have a heated, impassioned, ugly, beautiful, honest conversation about politics and religion and all other matters people think are important. I believe you were reporting some threads not because they were in violation of any of MMORPG's policies but because you thought some one was "flaming Americans." To you, "flaming Americans" is the equivalent of a gold seller and required reporting. That is the bias. That is the issue. And moderators agreed, wrongly.

No, I reported the person (key word: person, not thread) for the fact that they were doing nothing but trolling from one thread to another, spouting anti-American crap (including in threads that were not political and were not discussing any country/culture) for the pleasure of doing it. he would not provide any argument for his beliefs when asked to by many posters, would continue spouting crap even when confronted with facts showing he was wrong (and I mean facts with supporting links, not "I said so" facts). He was posting purely to antagonize and flame, not to discuss. That is why he was reported.
Hell, you can say whatever you want about my country or anyone elses, as long as you have some kind of a legitimate argument to present, I wouldn't report it.
Right now, the only one presenting a bias is you. I have yet to see you give a legitimate reason why you would name Dekron or anyone else as being favored or favoring others.
"Use this forum to discuss anything you want to talk about - even stuff not related to MMORPGs. This forum is loosely moderated and may contain topics offensive to some people. Enter at your own risk."
Yet people get banned for cursing?
I have been looking at the video clip that you have as a signature.
The guy in the centre looks pretty silly and monkeyish to me and what has the woman with the purple top that seems to be smiling shyly got to do with it all?
Confession of the week: I got perma banned from the World of Warcraft realm forum for saying something in the line of: you all look upon with admiration on (a known troll and spammers name) and you can all go to hell.
I am not bashing Americans. I love Americans. I more than like them. I am critical of their elites, special interest groups, and their political party system.
Again, I am not anti-American. I love America and Americans. I admire the Constitution. I admire individuals such as Thomas Jefferson. I am providing a different perspective to things, and sometimes that perspective is critical but not bashing Americans.
Thank you.
The Statue of Liberty was a gift to the USA from your country (France) but I guess they have all forgotten about that.
I recieved a PM today, I was very surprised when I saw that it was a warning, since I haven't posting anything even remotely offensive lately...but apparently I'm no longer allowed to call someone who is obviously trolling (and should have had his thread deleted) "uneducated about the topic"
That's not a God damn personal attack, it's an observation of truth, anyone who read the thread would agree with me. The moderators on this website suck, end of story. The new management, the new rules, and all of the moderators for this forum >suck< period, end of story. You all need to learn what the word discretion means and start using some, because you're losing a good community that has been built upon years of open discussion and lively debate.

This is exactly why I dont frequent here anymore. The range of what qualifies what or who should receive a warning and under what circumstances a warning is to be given is beyond words. The system in place today is just so chaotic.
You've got moderators who will ban you if you say something bad about Star Trek Online or some other beloved game they are currently following and then you have moderators who just dont care to moderate and are a moderator just for the title.
It's gotten bad.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

Well, I'm sorry to hear this. When calling someone "uneducated about the topic" ( a statement that is easily proven through the recipient of that statements further comments) is considered to be an offense, it won't be long before all of us are eventually banned. While calling someone "uneducated" by itself would be a personal attack, saying they are "uneducated about the topic" is no different than saying "you don't know what you're talking about", which to my knowledge is NOT a personal attack, but simply a statement that the person it is directed at is not showing a clear and concise knowledge of that which they speak ( or write) about. Nothing at all warranting a warning or a ban in that.
If this is the case, Draenor, I think it wise that we all begin to search for a new posting home, as it won't be long before we are all phased out by bans, anyway. I myself say things in normal debates with posters on this site every day just about, which when viewed in the same manner as they have applied to your comment, would have had me perma-banned years ago.
This sites greatest asset has always been giving us, it's patrons, a place to call home, to express our views and to challenge others viewpoints when the need arose, both in reference to games and in reference to other topics of interest or concern to us. We were a community. Alas, a community does not thrive in a vaccuum. It suffocates.
i tend to agree with enigma to a certain extent . the current standard of moderation seams rather haphazard . i gather mods do it on a volentary basis which is fine to a certain extent but it does bring into question how mmorpg.com vets these mods . i notice a number of them are in thier late teens , generally speaking people in this age range have not reached the point where they can make mature decisions so personally i would not employ somone of that age to be a moderator . its a little like putting a shark in charge of a swimming pool . given mmorpg.com seam to have a number of adverts i m assuming they charge for this so its essentially an online buisness . if this is so perhaps it would be wise for them not to employ people from it forums as moderators ( they are never going to be impartial) and perhaps start having paid moderators . also by the very nature of this site a lot of children will post here so i think the site managers should be a lot more responsible in the way they decide who watches over these forums and take a lot more interest in the way they are run . lets hope things change .

If you got a warning for that then its the lamest excuse for a reason ive ever seen. The mod who issued your warning should be ashamed, flogged, sacked then flogged some more for that.
Heh, at least you got a warning. I Was banned for a week for criticisizing Star Trek Online. I even got what I posted copied so Id be more than happy to pm it to you to show you I didn't flame or troll anyone or broke any RoC. I wont do it here because I dont want to violate any rules here.
But, yeah, it's sad to see MODs having gestapo-like type of powers. When I was mod we weren't allowed to do half the stuff the MODs are allowed to do today. If I deleted a thread because it criticized my favorite MMO and then ban the guy who posted a post in the thread for a week, I'd would have been given a stern talking to by Admin and told never to do it again.
Apparently, it's the opposite today. It seems like the MODs will get warned if they DONT ban people. Craziness.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
The purpose for banning so many accounts, including multiple accounts by the same user, is to encourage people to create additional accounts to make it appear that there are 617,000 subscribers (LMFAO).
It is a business decision. It is why I refuse to use MMORPG, with the exception of this post, because of the outrageous, unethical, incompetent, and biased manner with which moderating occurs. It is by far the worst forum, gaming or not, when it comes to moderating.

Actually it's the contrary.
The forums here actually discourage you from creating alts. I mean...why in the world would you create an alt here anyways? It's a forum for crying out loud. If one creates an alt here they are probably up to no good.
When I was a mod, people created alts for the sole purpose of using that alt when their main got banned. That, in itself, is a violation. When you get banned, you dont create an alt.
With that said, Im sorry to say to you this site really does have around 600,000 members. When you're a higher lvl mod you can actually see the users IP along with their handle...so creating alts doesn't work when trying to get out of a ban or trying to win at a contest here.
But yes... this site really doesnt have a lot of alts. If one uses an alt on a forum that's a litte sad.

Honestly, Zorvan.
I do not care. The injustice is so great I do not care.
Edit: I did care. At one time. But I wasted a lot of time fighting not a flood rushing against me but thin air. A worthless battle, to no end, to have honesty and truth. When I first used this web page, perhaps six or so months ago, it was what i was looking for. Today, Vanguard is compared to farts. Yes. People are allowed to compare the game to farts. I do not have the time to look it up. But if you negatively talk about other games such as WAR, your post is deleted. Deleted is not the right word. Erased, so no one can quote or view it.

Confession of the week: I got perma banned from the World of Warcraft realm forum for saying something in the line of: you all look upon with admiration on (a known troll and spammers name) and you can all go to hell.
The Statue of Liberty was a gift to the USA from your country (France) but I guess they have all forgotten about that.
And the Paris Tower was originally made for a circus, but that doesn't have anything to do with anything.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
I believe Darkalfx is banned after that comment.
Craziness.

WoW and fast food = commercial successes.
I neither play WoW nor eat fast food.

The forums discourage you from creating alts but there are "a lot" of alts.
OK.

And the other 591 posts you have racked up in two months, most complaining about the site. You really are funny.
