UO, without question. Even post-Trammel, some pretty insane stuff went down in Fel. All you MMO vets know what I'm talking about.

    Explorer: 87%, Socializer: 60%, Achiever: 47%, Killer: 7%

  • Yea I can now that I should have change City of Heroes/Vallains with a other mmorpg now.

But there was only room for 10 slot im affraid.

Where's Silkroad? Silkroad's better than all of those.

Toss up between UO and AC1 IMO.

    Nothing else comes close.

In recent times, SWG as a BH was OK, as was VG on the FFA server. WOW was a complete and utter joke.

    High hopes for AOC.

Indeed. To my knowledge, DAOC and UO were the really strong PvP games. The only difference I have with you is I have high hopes for Warhammer Online. We need more Sci-Fi games, though. I went back to WoW for the expansion thinking I could just PvP. I ended up quitting after 3 weeks of arena. Nuff said.

I have played mmos for a very logn time and I have had great pvp experiences in lots of different games however.  The 1 game that gives you constant competative balanced fast paced PvP has to be world of warcraft.  Not the bgs although they are pretty good its the arena.  The arena is a great system and the only reason I still play wow at all.  I love the fact that I can get together with a couple friends que up and face teams around my rating over and over from all different servers.  There is great PvP rewards specific to the arena aswell I really do think its a great system that being said all the pve crap in wow is horrible I dont do any raiding etc but I would recomend you give the arena a try a lot of people tried it and failed cause they werent half as good as they though they were and quit.  Some people cant handle competative rating systems they just wanna gank newbs but if you like a good intense system of pvp give the arena a try its worth the look.

For me the best PVP was UO Pre-Trammel. I wasn't really a PK, but I did try it out a couple times. Sometimes failing horribly. I really enjoyed the rush I got out of that game. No other game has made me feel as tense as UO. Like finishing a dungeon crawl with the last bit of money I need to buy that sweet suit of armour off a player Vendor, in the middle of a forest, where I found it dirt cheap (kinda like shopping at a flea market lol), only to be chased by a band of PK's. That happened when I was new also! I think it was the Dungeon Shame, with all those Earth Elementals.

I spent alot of my time just wandering in that game, and it actually felt like exploring/adventuring because I never knew what was gonna turn up. The AI/NPC's in todays game just don't have that human determination to kill you, which is why I really liked the randomness and lack of safety PK's provided. I also miss the annoying as hell Theives that would pick my pockets as I rushed to get my cash into the bank.

I have even tried one of those free servers, was no good. I really wish they would just remove trammel and start a classic server. I know they say they can't, but thats just pure laziness. UO made me swear very often lol, but thats because it truely got me involved.

SWG, when you have a 100 guys dressed in Stromtrooper gear and several Dark Jedi attacking your Rebel base trying to destroy it, i mean come on that is great stuff, of course this was per-NGE also. 2nd for me I guess is WoW, hate to say it tho.

FFXI, probably the best implementation of an immersing storyline I've seen yet in MMORPG-land.

Yeah FFXI does a great job with that, but i think the best is Matrix Online.  It used to be even better when they had a live event team instead of devs just logging in as characters, but its still great and the storyline is fantastic

sorry for the double post i cant help myself..

Played EQ2 PvP to 70 before I quit because it's quite crap.  A half-thought by the developers limited to just a couple of servers filled with people who just camp zone-in points.  /yawn.

Been playing in EVE 0.0 for a year now.   Gate camps / yawn.  Laggy fleet battles / yawn.

Been playing WoW pretty much since launch.  And WoW beats those hands down.   The battlegrounds are like you're actually inside a Warcraft RTS.  The other games are pretty bland in comparison, or make you wait too much.  I'm obviously not alone in thinking this - except for here of course, where people hate WoW.

People pretend to laugh at WoW because it's cool to hate the popular kid but it still has the best PvP out there.   Daoc may have been better but it seems that everyone that says that no longer plays the game anymore.

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

I'd say Lineage 2 is the best PvP mmo ive played to this date.

Nothing can really beat it, Open PvP and yet still a fair and reasonable punishment for just going on a random killing spree, but hey thats what we like ;)

PVP in WOW was great, untill I learned that I would need to spend 6 hours a night just for the chance that I might have a chance to roll on something that had a chance of dropping just so that I could compete in end game PVP..

No matter what anyone will try to spew  gear  > skills in endgame WOW pvp.. Im not saying you will not be able to get any kills with out the best gear, cause I sure as hell did.. But having the best gear you can have combined with skills will make you near unbeatable. And that is not what I want in a PVP game.

Im not saying that their should not be any raiding, but I sure as hell am not trying to get into another WOW type raiding game where I am forced to run 6 hour instances in order to get that certain gear or farm BG's day in and day out in order to get a chance to buy uber gear...

I think AOC and DAOC did it the best as far as balancing raiding and PVP, which is why ultimately I will put them ahead of WOW for PVP.. I won't even talk about the fact that in those games what you did or didn't do in PvP actually affected the game world, unlike in WOW.

You spread to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.-Mr.Smith

UO PT was it, hands down.  No contest.   Second Up : Asherons Call 1, before the botters and crap UI Mod's.

I remember once in UO, I was getting chased down by the dudes out in god knows where, they tried ganking me so I ran a corner after I para'd one of them with my nasty 60% magery (Got a lucky cast)  then turned a corner, stealthed, and sat there till eh rounded, I opened up with some nina katana style pvp, when he ran (He knew he was dead meat) I ramped up my bow skills and pumped him full of my beautiful flying death, then followed up with carving his corpse up, keeping his head, and distributing his gear among many loot-ridden chests because it was too ehavy for me to grab.   Nothign liek stealthing near a newbie dungeon, throwin in some good vanq surpas equip into a chest.. and watchign a newbie pull it out and scream crazy HELL YEAH!  and run off to do battle..   hits a soft part in my heart every time ;)
