Darth Vader easily although I quite like Ming the Merciless.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

It's really, really rare that I actually laugh out loud when reading forums....congrats. You got me.

Oh and I say The Joker....murdering SOB who had fun with it. In fairness though, he resembles a few real life villians.

My vote would be Scar from Lion King... I can't say he was willing to sacrifice his family... but he was willing to sacrifice his pride.

Whenever I think of villain, its synonymous with Darth Vader...he comes into my mind right away.

    He's absolutely ominous.

Can I change my vote to DreamRogue? I mean, the use of puns...it's evil! Anyone who does it should be punished. A lot!

Darth Vader or Goldfinger, but Mostly Darth Vader. He kicks more ass than anybody else I know.

I hope nobody comes up in here and say Sephiroth. If you do, you really need to check yourself. From a saga point of view, I'd have to say Darth Vader. Megatron from cartoons. I have a few others, but I gtg to work.

Sylar from Heroes is a disturbed cookie.

I'd  have to say that Sephiroth is the most evil villain ever.

Two come to mind for me.

Magneto, the way he was portrayed back in the 80’s X-Men comics and Brandin from the novel Tigana

Both are villains who you can sympathize with, understand and maybe even agree with their motives, but still have flaws that prevent them from being anything but villains.

I would post a picture of Jesus... but since I'd rather not have the ban stick, I'm gonna go with Kane.

I was gin to type in 'DARTH VADER' and leave it at that, but I saw Sephiroth's name on the list and now I'm torn

Well, Darth Vader isn't really evil, he's just confused ( you all saw revenge of the sith), and Sephiroth IS evil, and Insane, and powerful as shit...That would be a good fight, Darth Vader vs. Sephiroth! Anyway...Put Sephiroth in Darth Vaders suit and you got yourself a big mean motherfucker.

I'll just say Scar from The Lion King....NO WAIT! Gaston from Beauty in the Beast, now THAT is a villain!

Ahh but what about Pinhead from Hellraiser.

He always wants to teach us to love dark Pleasures and to witness the joys of Dark Miracles.

He definitely is one of my favorite villains. He's just so real... he's not even evil. He saw his murders as a tragic necessity for his power, and tried very hard to stop himself from possibly killing innocent people. But like you said, he's pretty disturbed, and has some sociopathic problems that cause him to be the enemy.

Best villain, though? I might have to go with Darth Vader... he was just epic, symbolizing everything that was evil.

aah he is pretty evil but he basically thinks he is right tho isn't he?

Thats why i went for Pinhead. He knows he is evil and he treats being evil like a job.

I'd say Chucky (Child's Play). Shame about his kid though, with that face and that accent he could have been the terribly sophisticated polite and yet psychotic assassin known to exist.
