I have never seen one item that says they started over in 2003. You are totally and completely making that up. In fact in early 2003, they announced beta would be in september of 2003. So obviously they weren't starting from scratch.
you can speculate as much as you want, if the game is coming or not. if its close to beta or not. Personally I know its coming, otherwise why would they have spent 5 years 30 persons developing it.
But in the end all that matter is, that if/when it comes every pvp guild will be there, because there are absolutely zero alternatives. If it fails then we are pretty much fucked and will have to stay on life support playing silly watered down games like wow, aoc or war, until someone finally realises somethinglike the DF concept.
And all you who say you have given up, well too bad for you, but I am pretty sure when DF comes you'll be there =P. Even all the nay sayers will be there too I am sure heh.
They have announced the beta twice previously and then canceled them both. So until we actually see people playing a beta, don't hold your breath. Personally I don't want a half finished game, I would rather they take their time and do it right.
I would do the same thing if I was in Aventurines shoes, they need to know who the publisher is before they start going to public. You don't want posters all printed up and articles written and stamped with the wrong publisher name at the bottom. It is just business sense for them to wait a few more weeks until it’s all sorted.
its also obvious that if they do this it will fail miserably ....... most succesful mmos have a longer 2-6 month beta, to find and fix all the bugs ..... Most if not all the MMOs that have done what darkfall is planning have had horrible releases, such as AO, Vanguard, and a couple others. They should have a long beta to test the servers, inviting more and more and more people slowly testing the server limit (considering this is their first game) and finding bugs.
No.... you just want a free game, like all of the other virgins. QA > You.

Exactly. I'm in no hurry for this game to be released. I was in no hurry when Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion was released even though I had a reserve for it several months in advance. When I heard that ES4:O was delayed, I was somewhat disappointed but realized that the game would come out virtually bug free. Which it did. The remaining graphical bugs were eliminated when they released a patch one week later.
The same thing applies to darkfall. I understand this game has been anticipated to be released since 2003. I understand that they have not spend much time going to game conventions or allowing game reporters in to show the game to some people. But I also understand one more thing; I understand that this game is much, much different to create and play than any other MMORPG in the past. This game will literally revolutionize MMO's and the amount of detail that has been put into this game by such a small team of developers is testament to why the game has taken 7 long years to develop.
Aventurine is going to have problems though. Many people don't realize that it should be taking this long and are fed up with their constant delays and blackouts of information. If they want to keep this game's fanbase and support alive, it is going to have to have a release inside 2008. If not, I can't imagine anyone but the most hardcore fans of the game will continue waiting for it.
And if it isn't released, I'll be disappointed. But it's just a game and I'll be able to live with it. Eventually this idea will be created. I just hope Aventurine will be able to make it possible soon.

Except they don't have a QA team yet and it is being covered by the developers. This is the greatest area for concern and does not lend itself well to a short beta. Short beta + no QA = very serious trouble...

I doubt there is much code left from the razorwax days. Surly over at Warcry wrote a nice article about Razorwax, Aventurine and the timing of it all.

And when we got more women on the team, it was like No, no, no. We need puppies and horses in there.
