Don't know if this has been said but I would cream my mittins if I heard that madmax was going to be an mmorpg. I would roam teh wasteland as a desert vagabond holding a sawed off shot gun.
Some of the IPs already listed would make great MMOs:
Dune
If done correctly, this could be wonderful. Politics was always very important in this story. I would hope that this would carry over to the MMO.
Mechwarrior
I have always envisioned this MMO as similar to EVE, but with a little more emphasis on PVE.
Underworld
Lycans and vampires and men, of my!
Transformers
This could also be fantastic if done right. Instead of groups, players could combine to make super transformers.
Starship Troopers
Who doesn't like killing bugs.
KOTOR
Jedi vs. Sith
Wheel of Time
All of the players (Aes Sedai) could have a stable of warders to let them take on different roles. Maybe even a function to play as the warder instead of the Aes Sedai.
A few more IPs that I believe would make good MMOs are:
Chronicles of the Cheysuli
You could choose to be a Cheysuli or an Ihlini. Who doesn't want a Lir?
Cabal by Clive Barker (aka Nightbreed)
The citizens of Meridian fight for survival against the parts of humanity who are trying to wipe them out.
Chronicles of Riddick
Go, Go Necromongers!
Deathgate Cycle
Patryn against the Saryn. Both races could be trapped in the Labyrinth. Instead of levels, character progression could be measured by gates.
Van Helsing
Human witch hunters face off against various supernatural beings. This MMO could be a world where human myths and nightmares of every culture find life.
"Those who dislike things based only on the fact that they are popular are just as shallow and superficial as those who only like them for the same reason."
as long as ea works with petroglith to do it ( westwood basically who originally made cnc) would make a great mmorts. could make one of red alert, or make a mmofps like planetside, but more fast paced, different worlds not just the seen one base seen them all crap ;/
I think a elder scrolls mmorpg would be good, if it used instances well, it could be really good. they are always going on about freedom, an mmo provides endless amounts of freedom.
Id love to see a tactics orge mmoTBS think thats what you call a massivly multiplayer with turn based gameplay. as long as it keeps the stylish 2d isometric feel. maybe a 3d isometric game, would be great to see if they could pull it off.
lastly any game by ensemble with mmorts attached id buy, havent played a game by that company that isnt good, i could see a age of mytholagy type mmo coming about seeing as how people like fantasy, and if gods and heroes does well, it would create the perfect market for that kind of game.

How bout sticking to the post, if you don't like the idea of an IP as a game, make another post about original games. For those who come here and annoy me with comments like this, READ the first post, its just Speculation and FUN! man...
Now, how bout.....a Wing Commander mmorpg....well it could be good ...if done right..lol.
or...ooh..Westworld...that gives us a cool scifi/western to mess with.
I am EXTREMELY happy to see all of the Mechwarrior(tm)/Battletech(tm) fans answer up in this thread. Hopefully, we can live up to our own and your expectations with our view/version of those worlds.
Can't wait to get you in my gun sights.....stop by our Force of Arms booth at AGDC if any of you are visiting Austin next week.
Good ideas are, well, good and fine, but they can be boring in a row, so here are some absolutely crap ones
Stalker Online (from the Tarkovsky movie):
Group-heavy game; parties consisting of 3; you grind to the end of "zone" and refuse to get the loot, thus reaching self-discovery and of course self-improvement.
Week-end World (from the Godard movie)
Survival game. You play as 60s' French bourgeois, trying to not end up as food to the new anarchists and preferably keep your car to keep mobile!
Citizens Kane (from the Welles movie)
PVE only. Everybody tries to find out what the heck "Rosebud" is.
Amtrak Wars would be the best MMO hands down. (6 book series by Patrick Tilley)
For those that have not read this series.
* Its Post nuclear but way past the fallout stage.
* 3 nations.
- Good looking mutants (more barbarians) rule the surface and use spears etc. However they have magic
- Asia is one empire and they have reverted back to samurai ways. Expert warriors and strict culture.
- Empire - Everyone else are underground. Use modern weapons, machine guns, battle trains etc. At war with mutants.
so besides having a point to the game. Players who love scifi can play empire and shoot the hell out of stuff and those that love fantasy could play barbarians etc. Plus its based on Earth.
BTW if you havent read these books they came out years ago but are still up there as my all time favourites.
I don't know if it's already been said, but: Planescape. It would fucking rule my world. Freelancer would also be pretty damn cool, if it was expanded somewhat. David Gemmel's works would be pretty great as an MMO, if done correctly, as would Raymond E. Feist's.
Agree with Raymond E Feist. Lots of opposing factions. Another one that I forgot was the series by George. R.R.Martin (A song of Ice and Fire) That series has distinct sides and a very large body count even in the books. Lots of options.

BOOGIE NIGHTS! The MMO
Don't know if this has been said but I would cream my mittins if I heard that madmax was going to be an mmorpg. I would roam teh wasteland as a desert vagabond holding a sawed off shot gun.
Pen and Paper Role Playing Games
- The original World Of Darkness (not the new line that white wolf put out. (CCP is 90% likely going to do new world of darkness ugh.)
- Exalted
- Scion
80's Cartoons
-Visionaries
-Transformers
Video Games
-Persona (There is one in Japan never made it to the states I would have liked it personally)
- Xenosaga
These all in my mind would be good MMO's but its just my opinion

a STAR WARS mmo that lives up to it's name .
How about something original? We all know what happens to big name brands like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Dungeons & Dragons, etc.
command and conquer ;p

Shannara could be a good mmo
Sword of Truth would rule. I also love the Warhammer 40K idea.

imagine the Chromehounds (360) customisable mechs but in a mmorpg world such as mechwarrior etc
starship troopers. if anyone saw the animation serious there is loads of worlds to be played and other races, definatly a solid block for a mmo
There are a lot of suggestions, quite a few of which I really liked and had never considered. Here are some hopefully new ideas:
Family Guy/South Park/Simpsons: Honestly I like Family Guy more, but I'm sure SP is more popular, and Simpsons has maid it like 20 years now.
Inuyasha/Cowboy Bebop/Big O: not sure if these would really work out
Anita Blake: have only read some of them, but it make be plossible
Onimusha: not sure if I spelled that right, but I think it would be awesome
House MD/Grey's Anotomy/CSI/Crossing Jorden: Basicly a medical/ferinsic/crime solving thing
Mario: come one he's been around forever, he's done everything, he's endured change, he can do anything
Zelda: again, for the same basic reason, enduring the ages
Honestly I know I could come up with more, but not without more sleep, though the most important on is:
DBZ: This is honestly my best idea, I think it would rule!
Dee Dee Dee!
to the guy who mentioned a non bipedal mmo u could wait for a pokemon mmo.. its bound to come out sometime.
I don't know if it's already been said, but: Planescape. It would fucking rule my world. Freelancer would also be pretty damn cool, if it was expanded somewhat. David Gemmel's works would be pretty great as an MMO, if done correctly, as would Raymond E. Feist's.

Stop saying Elder Scrolls. That don't need noooo MMORPG, becuase it wouldn't be what we think it would be.
