Crap may be a tad strong. But I don't see any part of the game that's going to make it anything other than another wannabe. LotRO has more to differntiate itself from WoW IMO, and it does that without guns and a Sci-Fi background.
I have to somewhat agree with "hold_me"s statement. I think this will be somewhat of a niche game. Combat system has a great deal of SWG:NGE at it's core (the incarnation with target lock). That doesn't have to be a bad thing, but it will turn some people (me for certain) off a little bit. Not an FPS by far. This doesn't mean it's bad, or good. I'm just looking forward to seeing what they have at launch.
As for the graphics, they are good enough for me...
Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom.
Logged in for the first time yesterday. Gotta say, the graphics were rather underwhelming. Not bad per se, but disappointing given the high recommended specs. Of more concern to me was the rather ho-hum art direction. The Bane and their vehicles look like generic evil aliens and the game world seems barren and uninspired. Of course, I haven't seen that much of it yet. Still, first impressions matter.
well for one thing graphics arent the most important part of a game IMO...the biggest seller is what the gameplay consists of. Ive played games that have awsome graphics that could knock down any MMORPG made to date, but the gameplay just sux to the point where its not worth a buy or even existance at all. In order for this game (or any game to really succeed) the gameplay needs to be unique and have something that no other game has...but thats yet to be seen.
The graphics get the job done well enough. Nothing bad, nothing great. In the end though the best graphics in the world can't save this game. My opinion of course..
What he said, Richard Gur (whatever his name is) should be ashamed of this pile of dog dung.
I predict it will sell 10k copys the first month then go the way of Face of Mankind, DarknLight, Horizons, DnD online, Roma Victor, you get the point....
When im running back to the boring same old mission grind of City of Villians instead of playing a brand spanking new MMO....... you have problems with your game.

I don't care about graphics, I play rogue-likes after all. The only thing I expect is good gameplay and a fast engine. TR doesn't seem to have either and just like my fellow poster up there, I got TR and yet I find myself playing CoV every day instead.
I think my primary issue is that they make TR seem moody. Everything they say gives you the illusion that the game contain a great deal of immersion and dynamism. But the fact is the game, in its current state, seems like one of those games you wanna rush through to see the ending. Nothing there really catches your attention. Traveling is utterly boring and to make things worse, every little quest has you traveling miles and miles on foot. Spawn points are also another annoyance, because they're static and full of campers, but yeah, things don't just appear, instead a drop ship appears from -nowhere- and beams them down, making them appear. My point of view may be biased because from what I heard, the first island is everything the others aren't, but it's a truly annoying place you have to go through to get your logos and levels in order to move on to what hopefully will be more interesting. My character is in that place right now and it's too annoying for me to try to get him past it.

I'd like to be the first to thank you for utterly wasting a beta slot so you could "play the game for free." You "got" TR indeed... pssshhh
Don't like something while it's in BETA? Then say something about it to the people who can do something. Friggin test what they have and give them feedback. That's what you're supposed to be doing in beta not just bitching on MMORPG.com forums how the beta engine isn't fast enough for you so you go back to CoV. Most games optimize (for you, read that as "make it go faster, vroom vroom") as one of the final steps before an open beta, so I'd hardly expect a game that's only been in official closed beta for a short time to be super-speedy. Oh that's right, you're just there to "get" the game for free...

Now now, don't be an internet jerk. Be more original. Post like someone who can read. Or even better, ask before assuming.
Let me address some points concerning your post. For starters, I didn't get TR, I bought TR. Does it waste a beta slot? I don't know, I don't care. Next you assume I didn't give a damn about the things I didn't like. I'm sorry but I checked the forums for all the issues, I didn't bother posting because -none of them- will be changed. There wont be vehicles or any other form of travel on TR release, maybe, just maybe in an expansion pack. So you will have to satisfy yourself with walking and teleport pads. And bitching? Look at yourself, can't even discuss a subject seriously without being hurt because someone wasted your precious beta slot (if it was wasted a all), boohoo. Next, you made a whole post about the game going vroom vroom [sic] when I said the game didn't have a fast engine once in a post that was entirely based on the game's mood. But since you make such a big deal about that, they are in fact optimizing the game as beta goes on, the last insanely huge update did fix a lot of bugs as it was expected. The graphic still does not justify the requirements and I I don't think they will change. If you had access to TR forum, which you may have, I don't know, you'd know there are dozens of threads about everything I said here. As much as they're working on pretty much everything, it still doesn't fix the main point of my previous post.
I actually liked the beta even tho it has tons of bugs and problems. They are fixing stuff still but game is fun.
on my desktop with good graphic card, graphic seems good. game play is unique and its something new. im sure many people will like this game once many of its problems have been fixed. Right now, enemy can shoot you thru walls, ground, building etc..item bugs....alot of places where char can get stuck..but even after all that i had alot of fun playing this game.
on my laptop, with avg graphic card, graphic of game do seem horrible. but thats just means it requires better system.
I think the graphics are quite good. Armor is customizable, the foliage is interesting, some cool looking citters. My favortie thing of all is the dang critters don't just sit there, they actually respond to your actions and you have to figure out which weapon works best against them.
Well on my avg. card ( geforce 6600 gt ) the graphic don`t look to bad !!! Right now , i still enjoy the animation when geting a new logos or by sending an electric charge to the enemy.
ok, this face it. Graphics are ok in TR. It hasent gone gold yet so they could still polish it up more.
Gameplay > Graphics.
crying over graphics is just stupid.
OK lets cry over gameplay which is even worse.
I don't care what you fanbois of this game tryt to say, TR if going to bomb in a major way.. This game is just not good, at all.

Anyone notice he didn't come back after that?

Just got into beta and i can honestly say i am impressed with the graphics! Textures etc character details amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure what the people are yelling about they are pretty sweet if you ask me.
loved planetside, playing EVE
Don't listen to the haters. I am in beta and can confidently say this will be the most fun game since SWG launch, at least for me anyway...
I am really impressed with just about every aspect of the game. It is remarkable!
And the graphics are just fine, somewhere between CoH and EQ2.
