YOUR top 3 games of all time...

Let's limit this to online multiplayer games. Super Mario World was fun, but not for this thread.

In no particular order, here are mine...

Starsiege Tribes  - The original was the best experience for me. The physics made the game. Sliding down hills, propelling yourself into the air with your disk-launcher, laser-sniping noobs halfway across the map. Insomniax base was the best mod imo, was popular for a while but faded out.

Gemstone III - Text based fantasy RPG. Started playing in the mid 90's. MMO's today could learn a thing or two from this game.

WoW (pre-BC) - When we talk about doing the right things and doing things right, Blizzard came through with the original World of Warcraft. The Burning Crusade expansion however killed the fun for me. When you totally negate the accomplishments people spent countless hours/days/month building up, wtf is the point anymore? "WTFBBQ, flying mounts pwn!"  -go back to sleep noob.

    1. Everquest 1 - Immursion, socialization, epic scale, graphics for the time, addiction.

    2. Asherons Call 1 - Feeling of a sprawling real world, climate changes, progressive story, monthly content updates, the feeling of trully being alone in a massive world and making sure to gear up before you left town.

    3. World of Warcraft - Addiction, Style, Personality. Lost me with the raid game though....

Hasn't this been done many times before? Oh well, I'm bored and not playing ANY MMO right now so here are mine:

Earth and Beyond - probably the most fun I've ever had in an MMO.

WOW Pre-BC - totally agree with you on post BC. And now they announce another expansion. No thanks Blizz....

Anything else that doesn't involve trolls and gnomes and swords  EQ was fun....

Ultima Online - Risk PvP, adrenaline rushes and immersion. No need to say more.

Dark Age of Camelot - RvR, community and learning curve.

Dragon Raja (yeah yeah) - Old styled graphics, small community, innovative systems.

    Ultima Online 98~04
    Dark Age of Camelot 03~07
    Final Fantasy XI 04~06
    Guild Wars 05~08
    World of Warcraft 04~05

    Ragnarok Online

Granado Espada- Not Sword of the New World

    NavyFIELD

You may think they all suck, but I usually get bored of other mmos within a month.  I keep coming back to these three and Albatross 18.

Everquest - A totally amazing game, changed my life for the better, I believe.

(I'm going to throw some into the mix that aren't MMOs, because these are my top three games of all time)

Grim Fandango - Now tell me games can't have characters that are as advanced and developed as films and books.

    Deus Ex - Holy shit!!

(As for MMOs, the next two would be...)

Horizons: Empire of Istaria - Okay, I know it was shit, but it had some vestiges left of its original design. If you were with cool enough people (Yes, The Seventh Faction, I'm talking about you), then it was an absolute blast... for a while. Also, I'm a crafting slut.

Everquest 2 - It's really special these days.

    1. Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds - First MMO back in 97? 98? Made me sleep in school instead of at home.
    2. Everquest 2 - Favorite current MMO.
    3. World of Warcraft - Didn't really enjoy it as much as my friends. Only played it a lot because all my friends were playing it. lol

    Currently Playing: Guild Wars 2

SWG - The game was amazing during the Pre-CU days. Even the CU was amazing. Just the endless amount of customization and social need set this game apart from the rest. Never had I enjoyed a game like the first 2 and a bit years of this game

CoH - I just love superheroes. The game was to repetitive but because I was a super hero I enjoyed. Plus, the costume customization was so much fun.

Lineage 2 - The game is a grind and has no customization, but I just purely enjoyed logging on, meeting up with friends and killing hordes of mobs.

    Favourite Game
SWG - Sabanak, Retired Jedi, Bria

    Playing: Nothing

    Waiting for: SWG Pre-CU

Retired: SWG, CoX, Vanguard, MxO, Guildwars, Archlord, Auto Assault, EQ2, Final Fantasy XI,
Lineage 2, Saga of Ryzom, DAOC, WoW, AOC, WAR

    1. Everquest  hands down. No contest.

    2. DAOC

Final Fantasy XI - Great story complete with cut-scenes, good player interaction, and the option to switch jobs/classes at any time with no penalty.

Ragnarok Online - Cute anime avatars, interesting (although somewhat simple) classes and skills, and a fun grind.

WoW  - Plenty of good quests, great class customization and altogether design, and not bad player interaction (but mostly limited to instances).  I also agree with the OP about the Burning Crusade ruining a large part of the game.

    1. DAoC - best game ever, imho.  I loved the character builds, rvr was great and it had a great community.  I'd pay double the subscription rate that games are charging now to get that feeling back of the first few times in Emain Macha or the first time I hit 50 and everyone /send me Grats!

    2. WoW - like many of the other posters, Pre-BC WoW.

    3. EQ 2 - so far. . .

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

/played: EQ, EQ II, DAoC, WoW, LoTRO, AoC, CoH/CoV, WAR, Aion, Tera, Wildstar and many others that don't merit listing

    /playing: Clash of Clans, Hearthstone

Love City of Heroes.  I've liked comics and superheroes since I was a kid, and the game is really fun.  I like the superhero team combat dynamics and hero customization especially.  Also, I find Cryptic/NCsoft treat us well, and that's refreshing.

I used to like Star Wars Galaxies before all the B.S..  In it's original incarnation I liked all the exploration, the social interaction, profession interdependence and the endless character customization options.

    1. Starcraft: unbeatable online strategy that any noob could pick up and almost master. No other blizzard game has or ever will imo compete with this, they are too obsessed with rpg style units.

    2. Quake 1: TF mod ruled, reg game had amazing weapons and this game invented multiplayer shooters basically. Singleplayer game was just as good and has not been beaten by any fps to date imo...those guys mustive been real live pagans to create some of those atmoshperes in that game...quake mmo ftw!!!!

    3. Battlefield 1942: Unmatched vehicular combat...newer Battlefields have perfected the infantry aspect but world war 2 setting and limited technology of the game made for incredible vehicular battles...

    4. Dark Age of Camelot: by far the best mmo in existance- clear(sometimes too clear, i will admit) pvp focus, multiple leveling methods, best lore, best classes, best spell effects, best non-open pvp

    5. Conquest: risk multiplayer online with 300+ maps is awesome. I still play it.

Honorable mentions but not remotely close to being in the same league as the aforementioned:( Diablo 2, Unreal Tournament, Counterstrike, Worms 2)

Well, if they're not just limited to mmo's, then here is my top 3:

Lineage 2: The open PvP mixed with the player politics made me love loging in because even though I thought the game had a good back story, who needs one when there's more drama then a soap opera? The castle sieges were a nice bonus as well.

    Diablo 2: Do I need a reason?

Any Battlefield game: They served to quench my thirst for FPS games.
