I'm going to have to disagree with you there Skippy.

You can NEVER use another game type in a franchise as a baramoter of what people will play.

Just look at the 40k Games and Dawn of War and Dark Crusades: When Dark cusades came out at least 50% of the player base had never played a Warhammer 40k game. Most purchased that expansion because they thought Company of Heroes was good and wanted to see what the other games that company made were like

Look at Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft: We all know that most of the people who play WoW never even heard of Warcraft 3, and a very large portion of the original player base bought WoW only because of the reputation of Blizzard or they were familar with one of Blizzards Battlenet games like Diablo

While the popular races/alliances may have a advantage in the initially most of the customer base will NOT, repeat NOT , be familiar with the table top game. They may be familiar with the other PC Warhammer games. They may just be hard core PVP who have kept up with the development or they may be those loyal to mythic. And we all know most people get attached to characters and its very hard to get someone to change sides once they get a character past a certain lvl.

And You will only be able to have Chaos or Order on a Server. Not both

So I seriously doubt there will be a whole lot of side switching by those who start the game from the outset. I think most of those who go to Destruction will be those who wait for the reviews and get as much data as they can before they purchase the game.

Edit: Just figured out TT means table top. Not trying to be care bear hear guys but not everyone knows all the initials to everything.

I mean its understandable to ue the initials to MMO's on these boards, but a lot of the new posters do not even know that Warhammer is originally a table top game

I don't know why people go around and try to find out if it's PvP or RvR.... But, RvR = PvP, but PvP don't have to be RvR... Simple as that.

But what's appealing to me with WAR, is that they say it's RvR or something, but what it really is, is Kill! Kill! Kill! It doesn't matter what race you are, but aslong as you play with others, do teamwork, kill the enemy, and kill them again, and get a wonderful story, then I think you've played the game to the fullest.  All classes have a special murderous look on them, some are easier to see than others, but in the end, there will be players, and it will be a wonderful game. Question is: What will happen when two forces, aiming to kill meet eachother? Huge chaos? Or one side overwhelming the other one in almost every battle?

Personally I always like the more 'evil' races. I find them more interesting than playing a 'goody goody' type and will continue this into WAR. I also played an orc army in warhammer and my heart lies with the greenskins. I think i'm leaning toward squig herder personally but I will have a DE alt for sure. I have always loved pet classes and squigs are awesome  I think the dark elves have the potential to have some awesome looking armor, more so than any others. Love the dark look...executioner would be awesome.

everyone wanted to play undead and Tauren.... nobody wanted to play night elves and everyone hates dwarves. Alliance far out populates horde in wow.

Vikings are cool and burn down nations, trolls are cool and strong and playing a valkyn is playing a warerwolf which is even cooler..... but nobody played mids and everyone played as albs in daoc.

Sounds like They are more like 3 separate factions VS 3 other factions, and the 3 on one side just don't attack each other.
Therefor, I don't think the majority of players (maybe the first characters of former WoWers) will choose their race based on alliances/faction, but on the race itself.
At least, that's what I'm doing. Usually I play the "good/blue" side, and played alliance almost exclusively while hating Horde when I was on WoW. I love Warhammer's Ork Choppas, though, and the Chaos Chosen looks badass.
Speaking of looks, WAR isn't set up like WoW w/ ugly evil ones and "pretty" good races. Both have their better looking elves, I mean races, and their uglier/savage ones. I defenantly admit the Chaos and Greenies have more, of course.

Well, High Elves are actually allied with the Humans. Humans are allied with Dwarves because of a thousand year old blood debt, that made the two races as thick as family. Dwarves and High Elves don't get along though because of the War of the Beard. Destruction on the other hand. Orcs are only there because they're looking for an excuse to fight. Dark Elves are using both Orcs and Chaos as tools to help them take Ulthuane back. Tzeench though is probably more than happy to do what it's doing, in it's own respect.

Wow! Very true. It was always like that and still everyone plays albs :)

But! Mids were gimped with few classes and albs had everyone not gimped, this thing is also turned ppl playing albs.
