Ill be generous and give it a 6/10. I will not be buying it.

Being a fan of RG's past efforts, I was seriously hyped before playing it.
After playing it I'd give it 3/10. To me it was a blander version of Auto Assault (without the cars).
I recently went and re-watched the videos of the magical-flute version of TR on Youtube. I'd seriously take that over what we got, that version at least seemed to have a lot of color, life, and originality going for it.
I really wanted to like it ...sigh but its not gonna cut it. The graphics dont look all that great even when on the highest settings. The game play ala shooting is fun for awhile then gets old and becomes the standard grind. I do like the cloning idea. I was hoping to have Age of Conan or WAR come out sooner and wouldn't have even givin this a look. Its a great time to release a new MMO as we are all hungry for something new shiny and next gen. This is more like a bargain meal bought with food stamps, It might fill ya up but it does not taste that good and you throw up and are hungry again. I give it a 2/10. Oh and ive never been one to complain about a monthly fee. But this game seems to lack any depth worthy of the monthly fee. I have no doubt that the fee will be lower then the standard 14.95 a month or will be lowered within 6 month, If the game is still around. I really like NC Soft as they were there with COX when WOW got old, but this makes COX look next gen and that is just unacceptable for a new MMO.
id say after playing it for about a month or more in the beta getting to lvl 20+ id say it rates about 5.5/10. the game is okay in short doses, and seems to want to be an engaging game that is fun, ffrantic, and fast paced. but the bugs were apparent, quest lag, and the enemies were waaaaaayy to easy, i could with my gravitron armor my lvl 3 shrapnel strike and a nice RPG launcher tear down a dozen or more enemies in a single swath. and barely get a scratch lol. i did this quite a few times in palisades, while at the CP and found them attacking the CP and i went out past the forcefielded entrance and just laid waste to about 20+ thrax lol. was funny.
i did that also in devils den, and timora mines. the game is way too easy. the game seems to have some fun factor in there. but it gets really repetitive, i dont really read the mission logs, and quest lines as they arenyt really interesting, i just went in, grabbed a quest, went to where i went and did my deed and moveed to the next missions. the storyline was weak as hell.
but like i said as a scifi MMo other than EVE (which can be horrendenously unforgiving and very open ended so there is a love hate relatinship and nothign in between) there is not much to pick from other than the existing bunch of High fantasy elves, orcs bullcrap companies have been dishingout for ages. a company really needs to make another scifi to contend with. hopefully Stargate will be that game, as STO is nothing more than EVE if thats the case ill go back to eve with my established character if i wanted to play like that. its a shame cause TR could of been more, but like most companies they dropped the ball, they went the simplistic, ADD player route. they went for quantity rather than quality. and its sad. so like i said i give 5.5/10 over all
graphics i give 7/10 it looks good has a nice feel, just too much performance overhead for the graphics given.
sound=i give 7.510 as environment feels like a war is going on, with bombardment sounds, and other explosions going off int he distance that gives a bit of emmersion guns are pretty good have a unique feel to them that fits the specific weeapons.
Enemy, Friendly A.I.= 6.5/10 as the AI is flopsy, sometimes they are smart, sometimes they are total Dullards.
Gameplay= 5/10 shaky at best, enemies are too easy they throw droves at you i died a few times only7 because i bit off more than i could chew but otherwise i can kill dozens at a single swath, and get 3-6+XP modifier on a continous basis., quests are boring, story line is weak. i do however like the FPS/MMO RPG hybrid movement/combat not bad.
overall i give the game a 5.5/10 for a game that had the potential to be a major contender for Scifi/military themed MMO just didnt act on it.

I like to think I'm one of the biggest RG fanboi's.. one could possibly be. This most likely like all thoughts isn't exactly accurate. However, lets just say Origin Systems brought me more fun "back in the day" than probably any other company. I don't really like the "fanboi" phenom either but.. anyway..
I got into the TR beta quite a while ago. Of course we couldn't talk about it then... My "hype meter" was beyond the max ... after I was in the beta a while.. my hype meter died.
Of course some of my view was tainted by another source.. so my hype probably died faster than it had to.
I start off doing quests..etc... I kill something and it drops... a can of paint. Hmm.. wow when I played Auto Assault stuff dropped cans of paint..
Then I start blasting away at a large amount of enemies... up pops more or less.. "bonus xp 2x... 3x... blah blah" I'm like damn.. just like Auto Assault.
Pretty much... correct or not.. I quickly began to feel.. I was playing the "out of the car" version of Auto Assault.
Now with me I personally liked Auto Assault.. but not as an MMO. I'd think.. you know as a console.. single player or network game this would be awesome.
I pretty quickly felt the same way about TR.
So I don't feel that RG is pushing out a bad product... just not something that will make it on the MMO market. Just like with AA... I think TR would be a great console, single player (pc) or network (pc/console) type game. Its just not a "oh hey I'll pay 15 bux a month for this" type of game... imho.
I rated the product a 1/10 simply because I feel it just isn't an actual MMO and it being falsely advertised as such - Among the many features of the product I just did not like/agree with.
I suppose there is a part of me that hopes the product will make some type of miracle comeback, in the way of good game play, features, etc that make it top-notch; I'm not holding my breath.

I totally agree with this...check my blog for a discussion on this...
at best it is an online third-person shooter with v.limited mmo capabilities and almost no roleplaying
this close to launch and far too much content is either missing or still bugged, the crafting system is a joke, half the game mechanics show no sign of anything innovative, the skill tree is so barren as to be non-existant, and the devs seem to be more willing to have the vocal detractors on the beta boards banned rather than address the issues being raised.
It's not going to be worth the money for the box, certainly not going to be worth the subscription fee, and will probably die or go free-to-play within 6 months.
When I first gained access to the beta it was great, fast-paced, furious fun, but ever since then each patch has made it crappier and more broken.
It is shallow, buggy, frustrating, and, once you have played for an hour, you know exactly what the rest of the game will hold for you, exactly the same running and gunning, just in different locations (that all pretty much loo the same)
In short, save your cash and wait for something better than this dog's breakfast, the major flaws aren't going to be addressed before launch, if ever.
This certainly is an MMO and it has as much "role playing" as any other MMO. Seriously.. just because you can't be an elf doesn't mean you can't roleplay if you want too..
It does have other serious problems though... like lack of challenge.
I'd give it a 6/10.. and I won't be buying it in it's current state. It does have some innovative combat, which if nothing else is an improvement over your typical MMO "whack a mole" combat.

I don't know if you've gotten on after the update today, but they increased the difficulty a bit. Alot of issues were fixed. Not saying that all of them have been fixed, but you may want to take another look once again now, and then a couple days before launch. It won't all be fixed but I guarantee that 6 would be an 8

Aww someones a little cranky he got booted from the TR forums
Everyone should try and decide for themselves. My best friend played it today and he thinks it's fantastic, he's a die hard WoW player. I also had another friend who said it was good but not his thing, he probably won't play it. Different strokes

Yeah I'll be trying it again before launch, it's got enough going to it to make that worth the effort.
i have been following this game since the first bit of information was released, and for the last four years, i've been reading/watching everything up till now... And then i got into the beta...
Man am i dissapointed!
This game had it all going for it... a new start if you like, but it just fall's flat on it's face! What happend to the "Next-Gen MMO" we was promised? Or the "Lot's of quest, so you dont need to grind" (What do they call the "Kill 200 Thrax soldiers" quest then?) and just to round it off; What in the freakin' flyin' phantasmogriff happed for the graphics??????
it seem's like the game is rushed more than just a "little bit", as if DG or NC Soft had to cash in on it now.... i so much wanted this to take over from City of Heroes/Villains, but i feel gut-kicked, and dissapointed... This is not the game is want... This is not the game i was promised... And this game is NOT one for me to buy!
i did order two Limited collectors edition boxes here in Denmark (One for me, and one for a friend of mine), but it's just not gonna happen.....
RG: You owe me the game you've been hyping... Not this bad looking, bad balanced piece of *BEEEP*!

CHeers from a dissapointed MMO player...
The game isn't for everyone. The graphics on high settings are better then CoH though. but I'm not here to gripe just to clarify, the kill 200 thrax soldiers is a "title" quest, after killing 200 thrax soldiers (which you're gunna do anyways) you get a new title under your name. Same thing with CoH after you reach a certain level you can pick a new addition to your name. I guess moreso it's like a badge. If you're a badge hunter in CoH then this shouldn't be a problem

It certainly isn't for everyone, it's for people dumb enough to waste their hard-earned cash on broken promises, propaganda, and garriott's reputation
wonder how much it would cost to have the russians shove him out an airlock once they haul him into orbit?

now *that* would be worth 50 bucks
Truthfully I'm glad this game turns off people like this guy here, not a single point of his is valid, and instead of testing the game like other people he complains about it. I bet they banned his account and he's not allowed to test anymore, that would explain the overall sour disposition.
I can't think of a single game that gave everything they promised upon launch (with the exception of maybe Guild Wars, not to say it still didn't have minor bugs) but the majority of games, especially the "Big Ones" never get everything out on time. If so you would end up with a perfect game every time and thats just not going to happen.
Even if it did happen, certain labotomized chimps would still complain about game mechanics, because not everyone likes every game. I don't see how you can complain with "freedom to choose" what someone likes.
Badge hunting / Title grinding is one thing... But when you compare it to CoH/V, is that not the same as saying it's not the next-gen-mmo it was made out to be?
All i'm saying is that i expected more, from the game... i really like the whole cover & action idea, not to mention the fresh approach they have taken... i just think it is very poorly executed... The animations is passable at best, the graphics (allthough a bit better than CoH/V) is way below standards, and it just feel's... Shallow/incomplete... i would have liked DG to take the Blizzard approach: "Comming when ready", but i cant help but feel, that it has been rushed here at the end....
my game account is still working, if it wasn't I'd be wanting my pre-order money back.
as it is, I really wish I could give it a 0 out of 10, just logged in to find almost all servers down, the single server that was up crashed shortly afterwards, bootcamp is now a total mess, I could hardly do any damage to the mobs, almost got killed several times, and had to let the mpc's take out the bosses because I couldn't scratch them
you might be willing to overlook the game's inadequacies, hell, you'll probably pay for it and subscribe from day one, and, if you do, I consider you to be foolish and wasting your money. The latest patch has made things worse, not better. However, if you like wasting cash on frustrating games, go right ahead, pay for it, support their beta, nd help pay to send dick garriott into orbit.
he's not getting any more of my money for this sub-standard offering. In fact, I'd have to argue that teh only thing innovative about this dog's breakfast is the attempts to get people to pay a subscription fee for what is so obviously a beta product
don't worry, come the 19th, I'll not be there, perhaps in 3-6 motnhs once it goes F2P, unless it pulls an Auto Assault and dies stillborn

Prepatch 6/10, postpatch 7/10.
Just look at his post history. This person is on a personal mission to bash the game. The entire post history is responses to fanboi, good, and luke-warm responses. Honestly don't listen to 'em. The guy has his own opinion that is trying to forcefully shove down everyone elses throats. People like that go away when ignored, or burn themselves out by machinegun posting.

It seemed like such a good idea and it looked so shiny.
Buuuuuuuut no..
Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
It all sucked.
I myself have had a blast so far with this game. It does need some bugs hammered out though.
I got in one of the first waves of testing... and just felt like I was playing COH with guns.
Redownloading it now in a desperate last hope that its turned into somethign worth playing... cause Im bored =(
Ill be generous and give it a 6/10. I will not be buying it.

Well, when I first saw TR a few weeks ago I thought "wow this game will be awesome in about half a year" and would have ranked it about an 8.
Then when I discovered that they thought it was finished and ready to release I think my rating dropped to like a 4.

Im off.... Halo 3 is calling!

my game account is still working, if it wasn't I'd be wanting my pre-order money back.
as it is, I really wish I could give it a 0 out of 10, just logged in to find almost all servers down, the single server that was up crashed shortly afterwards, bootcamp is now a total mess, I could hardly do any damage to the mobs, almost got killed several times, and had to let the mpc's take out the bosses because I couldn't scratch them
you might be willing to overlook the game's inadequacies, hell, you'll probably pay for it and subscribe from day one, and, if you do, I consider you to be foolish and wasting your money. The latest patch has made things worse, not better. However, if you like wasting cash on frustrating games, go right ahead, pay for it, support their beta, nd help pay to send dick garriott into orbit.
he's not getting any more of my money for this sub-standard offering. In fact, I'd have to argue that teh only thing innovative about this dog's breakfast is the attempts to get people to pay a subscription fee for what is so obviously a beta product
don't worry, come the 19th, I'll not be there, perhaps in 3-6 motnhs once it goes F2P, unless it pulls an Auto Assault and dies stillborn
hype meter 7/10
after playing 4/10

Prepatch 6/10, postpatch 7/10.
Just look at his post history. This person is on a personal mission to bash the game. The entire post history is responses to fanboi, good, and luke-warm responses. Honestly don't listen to 'em. The guy has his own opinion that is trying to forcefully shove down everyone elses throats. People like that go away when ignored, or burn themselves out by machinegun posting.
