Yeah sorry for adding my two cents but I got to.

HGL is a travesty of a game, I think Flagship realized that their name and reputation would sell enough copies to make money. The game is D2 with new skins, the drop sounds among with many others are even the same. The animations for the most part are the same, there's no skill to the FPS aspect. Since the game has a single player mode all the classes have to be able to beat the game, which makes grouping mostly useless. Lack of ingame voice chat, a better item management, the list goes on and I'm tired of complaining.

Sorry for being a dick if you like the game, but damn.... just damn.... I have more fun getting a root canal than playing that game.

So again sorry, I had to get it off my chest. This should be deleted, and I expect flaming. Enjoy :D

The game is D2 with new skins

I applaud you for finding out so late :). That's not a flame btw, just a truth.

Heh I found that out after running my first "randomly created", which I'm not even going to get into right now, instance during the beta.

And apparently the story wasn't changed at all? People still have to go into techbots head? WOW, way to crap out story wise. Go team Flagship, hence forth known as Team Money Grubbing Bastards.

Arent we getting a bit sidetracked here?

The thread was about the bloody annoying "event" drops that subscribing entitles you to, or rather punishes you with.

Ye, we get a bigger inventory, wich is easily eaten by that crap, and then some.

"Mate, then just do not pick it up, or stash it!"

    You migth say.

It is impossible to not pick it up, unless you read the text on every item that drops, and to add injury to pain that bloody things have the same text color as quest items, you WILL be constantly deleting "subscriber only" crap from your inventory at least once every run.

And allthough I have not completed it, I intend to give Nemo what he wants, eventually, wich means stashing at least one of each item.

Damn it that quest better send Shakira this way for an allnigther else its totally not worth it.

I would pay 10 dollars a month to NOT have to deal with these things.

And knowing EA they will probably pick me up on that offer.

God damn horrible implementation of something that is supposed to ADD value to your experience, not deter from it.

I wont even mention the bugs, because in them we are all equal, paying or not.

A number of the building components of the holiday drops that people have complained about DO offer features besides being used for crafting.

The potatos, cakes, pies, drinks, and even the grenades all can be used for effects ingame outside of crafting.  I myself delete the blueprints I've made, keep those I haven't, and use the drops for the best effect possible whenever they come.

Strange that more people don't seem to do that, really.

i pissed i wasted my money on this game . should of bought cod4 . i can understand there only being 3 char slot for multy . but why dose the single player only have 3 slots

as for the forums what a joke there 3 big game companys not one of them could even put up any type of forum till after the game game out . other games on beta have better forums than HGL

it just shame with games like this your stuck with them once you buy them

So you'll pay 10 bucks for f'ing pies to drop 24/7 and fill your inventory?!

What the crack are you smoking boy?  You call this content?

I can draw a freaking potato in 5 minutes and slap it into a game and have it heal you for 500 hp and call it good in no time at all...  freaking 10 bucks for this?

Seriously.  I have to chalk hellgate london as one of the worse launches in MMORPG history.  No game has ever made the player feel more isolated and alone, and had a more primative chat system other than maybe Ultima Online and some of the old old games of our time.

As far as people saying, "All mmo's had hard launches".... this isn't an MMORPG.  D2 was more of an MMORPG than this ever was!!! D2 was more of a finished product than this game will be in a year, and you know why?

Because the development team is incompetant.  It doesn't matter how many people you have work on a game if the management is bad and can't manage the minds well, or if the ideas aren't very well sorted out and planned for implementation.  Lets face it, this game had four years... and had hundred's and I mean LOTS of people working on various parts of the project and with so many minds the real fault falls on the managers and supervisors of the project not the publisher who simply gives a deadline...

the developers know far in advance how much time they really have to get their act in gear and if they just take the money the publisher gives them and fart around then it's their fault, not the publishers.  Four years from EA is the most generous I've seen, look at the last couple of years of NBA titles and their faults...  at least they were playable games at launch with a top end system, my 8800 crashes all the damn time and runs oblivion on top settings fine.

I'm seeing another "fame flop" title.  Famous game designers using their titles to sell a crappy game... like Richard Garriott does.

Nicely put. i'll add to this:

What happened during development that screwed everything up? I'll tell ya.

Bill Roper was in his office one day and somebody said, "Wow, man. I wish we were making an mmorpg, instead of an actionrpg. We could charge subscriptions and make bank."

Bill replied "Wait, you mean if we label it an mmorpg, people will pay money for subs, but as an actionrpg, they won't?"

    "That's right, Mr. Roper, sir."

Bill suddenly lurched to his feet and got everyone in an emergency meeting.

"From now on," Bill said,"Hellgate is an mmorpg, not an actionrpg. Anyone who asks, remember....it's an mmo!"

Bill smiled to himself. "I'm gonna be friggen rich!!"

*Just so you know, this is in no way a literal or even totally factual summary of the events depicted. But I'm pretty damn sure it was something along those lines.*

We all have a choice in life. In this case, you either buy it or dont buy (easy enough right?) Otherwise play the game or move on. (this should be easy enough to understand!).

If you folks find the game so damn aggitating, then leave and find another game?

Cause its the same damn people in everypost moaning and groaning in every thread.

I say MMORPG.COM open another thread to this forum and make a I HATE EA THREAD, just like they did with SOE on this website for disgruntle Sony players and make one for disgrutle EA players and leave the constructive critism there for the bashers.

And what about the people who know full well that EA is not responsible for Hellgates' problems, but Flagship ? Should they be relegated to the "I hate EA" forum because they don't agree the game is good? Come on, man. It's been pointed out before: these forums here are NOT only for those who like the game, they are for EVERYONE. And not everyone who is bashing HG:L is blaming EA for Flagships screw-up.

You're coming in here telling people "If you don't like the game, don't play it and go away.".

We can all say the same thing in return: If you don't like people saying bad things about HG:L, go somewhere else where you don't have to see the comments.

People who aren't playing yet, or are thinking about buying the game, can't exactly go the the official HG:L forums to find out what's wrong with the game, now can they? Hell, they can't even go there to find out what's right with the game there. Why do you suppose Flagship requires a game purchase before being able to read their forums, eh? Exactly.

So, people come here to get both the good AND the bad concerning HG:L. Ultimately, it is still up to them to decide.

what you seem to be missing is people have paid for this game .seen as it been in the making for a long time not done a very good job i was hopeing for a b it more after all the hype

if people wat to vent the anger then let them . some people have paid a lot fo money for subs seem to be getting very little out of it .

would you pay crap load of money for high end internet only to be told you will have to make do with a 56k for a few months i think not

prob with all games they have good hype good demos . when get the finished games no where near as good

You have to love the clueless that whine when they see negative comments.  The concept of a forum is to provide opposing views.  If you don't like seeing negative comments, don't read the forums, everyone is entitled to their opinion.  If you don't agree with someone, post a rebuttal.

Nothing wrong with complaining about something but before some complain about new content. New content doesn't come out until December. You might want to read facts before some post.

If this game is so bad then why are many people getting to level 50 and having a good time ?  People are farming, doing elite and hardcore modes and enjoying the game while other choose to whine and complain. I could understand people being mad about the subscription problem they had which is understandable but saying that this game that the game is one of the worst launches is very laughable.

When WOW launched it nothing but bugs for months. Major server lag, Druids, hunters and warrior classes weren't even fixed until months later and constant rollbacks. Even today, the game still has bugs and gets patched and yet so many still play the game.

Diablo 2 had many issues as well but it became one of the best rpgs ever in gaming history and today, still many people play the game.

This game has only been out for 2 weeks. Some who bash the game now will be the ones missing out on a very good game.

If they do get things in order and I'm able to sub on EU server will I be double-billed for US server as well? Without a possiblity to cancel this subscription I never wanted?
This is a massive cock-up. Having differences about gameplay and gfx is one thing, but PLAYING WITH OTHER PEOPLE'S CREDIT CARD MONEY is a totally different order of FUBAR! This isn't game-breaking, this is company-breaking. Lawyers could have a field day with this. If they don't get this thing in order very fast and offer some japanese-style apology this could turn very, very, very ugly.

cancel it out with your credit card company. That's what I'd do.

Personally I dread any future content updates, since I bet you they will choose to add more content in order to make money from their subscription service rather than fix what problems the game already has, and make it playable for some of us that crash all the time.  The new content will probably come with it's own set of problems, and then pretty soon we'll have a "Shadowbane" on our hands, a game that years later you're still getting stuck in the environment.

I like the exaggeration, but $10 bucks, haha. Not anytime soon that is. As for the MMO debate, many people got defintions on what a MMO acutally is these days. We been heading into a new online gaming phase of late with pc's, xbox 360s, PS3 and even Wii, so whether you call it a MMO or not, is strictly your personal bias.

  • AmpallangAmpallang Member Posts: 396

It may be an interesting idea for a game, but the way it was executed was poor and does not merit a subscription.  Its fine as a single player game but doesn't cut it as a multiplayer.

If you are not being responded to directly, you are probably on my ignore list.

Hey guys guess what!  They're removing the event content!

    EVERYONE CHEER!

    YAY!

Of course I haven't logged in since like a week or two...

The game just lost it's flavor fast.  Probably after my character couldn't complete the main quest and thus couldn't move foreward... ever.  Due to a bug of course.

    QUALITY!

I don't think I've ever played a game that a bug literally stopped from completing the storyline, and then asked you to pay monthly.

  • TopCatFCDTopCatFCD Member Posts: 21

Oh noes its so much money! £6 a month and £30 to buy! oh noes im skint now and cant afford to eat  or breathe or anything at all !! oh noeeeemoes!  Maybe ill eat my donkey

Really if you bought this thinking it was anything other than really what it is then shame on you lol. Its shallow loot whore orientated and nothing more than some flashy armour and big guns. Bugs galore but still its good for a change sometimes.

As for subs, its really not a lot fo money right now if yer  working i guess ,so i dont care.
