Vanguard is a joke of a game atm. Lets list the problems, and why this game will never get the subs compared to other games.

    1. No helmet graphics

    2. 1 raid area for max lvls in a year

    3. No filters for crafters recieps

    4. No permeant flying mounts yet.

    5. No open sea travel as of yet

    6. No Lore other than diplomancy, and still weak.

    7. Small dev team, SOE keeps laying devs off without rehiring new ones.

    8. Unbalanced classes

    9. No meanningfull PvP system.

    10. Not enough Diplomancy quests

    11. Players still fall threw the world in some areas.

12 Empty areas in cities with no npc AI interaction.

    13. Same mob encounters every 5 to 10 lvls in a diffrent setting, just a diffrent name on it.

    14. Worst mini map, and interface I have seen for a 3rd gen game.

Sorry but there is too much here to go on. This game is still a beta test, and untill SOE invests in more devs and resources that is all this game will ever be. Now I am not taking away from what the current devs have done to improve this hunk of trash, but realistically it will never amount to the game players expect when the competition is outclassing all of SOE's products with content, and fewer bugs.

Honestly I really don't care about helmet graphics. 99% of the time I hide them. Also this is an issue presented with the crappy modeling work the Sigil art team did.

    This isn't a PvP game.

Balance is getting better every patch.

Flying mounts arn't permanent because they are addressing more important things, but they're almost ready.

You're asking for tons of things. You need to be patient. 1 step at a time. SOE is trying to fix it to the best of their ability. They're doing a lot of great work and continue to do so.

I for one am very impressed and am happy with the current state of the game. It is much more enjoyable them some of the recently released games that is 100% for sure. Will it keep me when Aion released? Maybe, but that's in the future. I'm not interested in AoC or War or any of that. I plan to get a free trial for AoC and Spellborn, but not looking to deeply into them as being a VG killer for me.

Rejoined in November from playing a month at launch. Totally night and day in comparison how it ran on my computer back at release to how well it runs now.

As long as I'm having fun playing it I will continue to pay for it. Right now it is a lot of fun. My only gripe is I'm not high enough in levels to check out the new APW when it comes out. Heard good stuff about it.

I enjoy it too, i got bored of WoW, tried EQ2 but didn't get on with it, VG has some really nice touches and the graphics are really really awesome.

It runs smoothly and the classes are really cool. There are a few things missing as listed above, but that doesn't distract from the gameplay too much.

I predict that once a free trail of this game comes out the pop will explode cos as far as i can see there is nothing else out there apart from WoW and EQ2, which  a lot of peeps are now tired with.

Funny Last time I checked it has a pvp server called sartok. I should know since that is where I have a lvl 50. If they have a server with pvp they should have some devs addressing the pvp also, or doesn't the pvpers matter?

I am not asking for a lot of things either. This game has been out one year next month they still have major bugs not fixed, 1 raid area in that time frame, and still missing features the game promotes. I don't blame the Devs as much as SOE. After SOE took over Mr Smedly posted that Vanguard was going to be SOE's flagship, but  SOE still continues to pull resources away instead of investing, then remarketing. The fact is in the world of sales, and MMORPGs Vanguard is a lemmon.

I made a comment about the helmet graphics earlier in this thread and it's funny that it came up again and you said what you said.  Personally, I don't wear helms much myself either but when you see an option in the game to enable/disable but they're not even implemented into the game it sends a message.  It's kind of like their slogan should have an asterix next to it:

    "The freedom to do ANYTHING!*"

    *except wear your helmet

It's not a matter of viewing your helm or not, it's the point of not having the choice to.

Last time I checked there is a PvP server and I bet that sold a few boxes even though it doesn't really have a place in the game at the moment.

Hmmm "Balance is getting better with every patch"  Do you know how many times I've heard this over the course of beta as well as the few months I played after release?  I might have even said it a few times myself.  At this pace the game might about be all square by 2010 eh?

Ahhhh flying mounts.  This subject is a particular thorn for me.  The BEST part about beta by far was flying a mount.  That's right, back in beta.  As I played and got my levels on they devs were kind enough to submit screenies of flying mounts and rumors that they were currently in the game.  All we had to do was grind an obscene amount of rep with a faction or two and then you could have one.  After grinding my ass off and discovering that they weren't actually in yet.... well you can imagine how that went over with me and my guildies.

I can understand that VG is probably better than it used to be.  I can imagine that you're enjoying it and telling people to "be patient, it's getting better"  with the hope that VG will all of a sudden boom with success.  The reality is that a lot of people, including myself, were patient for a very long time.  I actually took a week off of work to play vanguard for every waking hour at launch and totally immerse myself in its glory.  I suffered through nerfs, rejoiced at buffs, farmed gear, did quests, defended VG to the public on this very site hoping its problems stemmed from it just being a new game.  Many many people have been more than patient to VG, it's just how can anyone expect to have thousands of people to have the patience of a saint?

I'm glad that you're happy with the current state of the game.  As for myself, I'm not on board for a game that is trying to be salvaged.  VG had its chance to shine and Sigil fumbled the ball.  Now there's a new landlord and he wants to make as much money with his property while spending the least amount of upkeep.  I actually got a card in the mail from SOE after they ate Sigil, "We're sorry you didn't like VG, here, why don't you play EQ2 for a few months while we fix it"  Here's something else to think about, what will VG have to offer that is new and special that will draw people away from WoW or any of the other games out there leading the market?  What will VG give the MMO community that will keep people from flocking to Aion, Age of Conan or Warhammer?

I guess it all comes down to if you want to be there at a games birth or hold one's hand while it's on life support.

The OP is right.  Like most MMORPGs, VG is fun with a group.  The problem is you will not get a group until you are level 50.  That is 50 slow leveling levels of boredom.  Leveling in VG solo is as fun as watching paint dry.

Maybe if they tripled the XP I would give it another shot.

So for those not knowing what MMO to choose or are bored with your current one, come back to vanguard and play on saradon server, you will not be sorry.

VG has improved its technical issues by quite a good bit.  I thrashed the game myself and have said that they should have let it die, but I have to admit that they've made huge improvements to its performance.

I'm not sure if I could say that the game is "fun", but it runs significantly better.

As far as grouping goes that's not normally my thing, but a pal of mine groups regularly and has grouped regularly with his necro since starting Vanguard.  His character isn't quite level 30 yet.

People shouldn't believe the hyperbole, either negative or positive.  The retail box is dead cheap anymore and it does get you 30 days of play time, so there's not much to lose.

okay, so I logged back in last night. I will say the performance was much better, still hitches a bit, but not enough to be a killer. But, and this is a big but....it was a complete ghost town. In three hours I saw 2 other people.....now I wanted to revisit the low level stuff just to see it from the starter areas, I hope I can solo this game for a lot of levels, because otherwise, I'm destined to do a bunch of over-matched, low-level grinding for long period of time.

so if the developers are committed to making the game work, when is the scheduled re-launch (which would require them to spend some money), or the 14 trial for people to come and check it out?

it is a shame, because it is really a graphically beautiful world, despite falling through the world every now and then. I actually enjoy the crafting system (because it can't be botted, well easily,  and you actually have to think a little), and the diplomacy game (although it lacks direction, the mechanics are fine), and I really enjoy seeing a tree fall when I cut it down to harvest it.  It's a shame the so few will actually see it.

Some Vanguard fans will say anything to intice people to pay a subscription.

This is my favorite quote from the SOE VG boards. " Its currently fixed on test. no eta when it will go live " We've been reading statements like that for months and months. That Fabled patch never comes though.

The population is not fine. Its dwindling again after the merger. The performance has not improved 100%. You still get stuck in walls or rocks, still fall through the world, still run like you have a stick up your bum, still no helms, no tails, no perm flying mounts, still  no NPC optimization, still no trial.

what personal reason can those who do play Vanguard have to want you to Try the game or come back?

    1. Vanguard needs your 14.99 to stay alive
    2. They are lonely and want someone to group with

Then you need to work on your looking for group skills because I am able to find groups just fine. I guess all those people I saw in TK and VT were all solo but working together?

Tried it again recently (within the past 15 days) and found it better than it was at launch but not nearly ready for a relaunch imo. I wish them luck with it though, it's got enormous potential and I truly would love to play it when it's ready. Hopefully it gets there.

I warn people to Not subscribe without full knowledge of what they are getting into. You want them to ignore warnings and past experiences and just "take your word for it" that things are 100% better and everyone with a problem regarding VG are just haters and trolls or arent mature enough to handle an Adult Game like VG.

If I have a shield and sword equipped, can I see both of them, or only 1 or the other? If I have a two-handed weapon equipped can I see it, or does it appear I'm punching my target? Is Pantheon fixed or still bugged until each server restart? Will my legs still disappear into my mount? Will I continue to run when I cross a chunkline and rubberband 4 mobs back to me when my character is generated on the other side? Will I still jump out of the water while swimming on the surface? Will my shield still cut through my cloak when I jump? Will my pet still not follow me up stairs? If I play a Shaman, can I cross a chunkline in patron skin then render in racial form and summon my mount, retaining my patron trait boosts? If I play a Bard, will I still die occasionally when chunking? Will I encounter aggressive mobs 2 meters away that won't attack until I hit them with an AoE? Will I still get the "cannot see target" even when they are standing right in front of me?

I understand this a lot of questions. If you do not have the answers, you can send me a $15 money order and I will test them for you.

Than why make things up ,ive played sence day one I quit about 4 months in because one of there updates started making my 8800GTX crash every 10 minutes or so depending on how much i traveled around

Ive been back playing for about 3 months ive crashed twice and fallen through the world once not sure why i was harvesting and had ran over that spot 30 times, than  boom i fall though and keep falling than my character appears about 3 feet above where i went through landed exactly where i was and keep going big deal  ive had the exact same thing happen in wow in fact i crashed out to desktop more playing wow than vanguard guess what i get better FPS in khal than i did in wow main burning crusade city and my computer is smoking so go figure

yup ive got stuck on a few things mostly cracks in rocks that i didnt see and ran into boom stuck big deal its happened about 3 times. Suppose your going to try and tell me youve never had that happen in any other game i use to get stuck in the wall of the horde base in WSG just about everytime i got feared in there or you would go through the logs and be stuck outside the building  big deal carry on

And i dont know what server you play on but mine is fine for people its not packed but i can find groups easier than i did in wow

The stuff you said does happen but you try to make it sound like it happen repaetedly everytime you turn around and thats just not the truth

Vanguard needs your 14.99 to stay alive
They are lonely and want someone to group with
    misery loves company

And some people will say anything to intice people not to pay for a supscription

And some people don't need to be told anything by other people to keep them from subing. They can hand out free money to play the game if they want, but people aren't gonna ever forget what happened, or what they saw when they tried to play it. *puke*

your right bro and am one of those people i dont really care what anyone says about any game if i want to try it i do ,just cause you dont like it dosent mean i wont  everyone i know told me wow was a great game well i tryed it not so great lol

Right now this game is totally dead for me. I was thinking of waiting 5-6 months and keep a keen eye on it then. Not sure why because it has no future. So I still wonder why I wanna play it. Maybe I just wanna play the "vision" I guess. Anyway here is my list for what it takes to play Vanguard in 5-6 months time.

    1. Wait 5-6 months

    2. If AoC is poor then maybe Vanguard

    3. If WAR is bad then maybe Vanguard

    4. If Lotro is boring me I might play Vanguard

    5. It better be relaunched, revamped.

    6. Population is very good

If the above comes true, then yeah, maybe Vanguard is the way to go. But guess what? I dont think Vanguard is going to live another year and a half so why bother with it.

Why spend 1000 hours building a house when its sinking into the sand....

3 tries with Vanguard have given me a foul taste!

yup ive got stuck on a few things mostly cracks in rocks that i didnt see and ran into boom stuck big deal its happened about 3 times.

I also recently resubscribed (maybe one month or so ago) and I have crashed maybe once.

I think you are right about annoying little things.  My character in WoW still gets stuck in a duck position after I loot.

I am excited about Vanguard because, I think, the game was released around 2 years too early.  The vision of Vanguard is being fulfilled, slowly but surely.  Every update, patch, etc. has been a major improvement.  Things have really improved.  I wish they improved faster, and I wish SOE did not cut staff, but they are getting better.
