I dont even think its niche material....CoH is a successful niche product, and theres no way its going to attract that kind of following, not when its fantasy and its got the type of fantasy competition it will have next year.
And, to top it off, CoH numbers are falling as well....not enough depth...
I will bet you Aion will have more total subs than AOC.
I truly had to LOL./LMAO at that one....tell you what- go post that over in the AoC forums, or better yet- visit the official AoC community and count how many board members they have 4 months before the launch of their game......hah!
keep in mind that he said total subscribtion, as in, worldwide.
keep in mind that Funcom's previous game, AO, barely had 150k ~ 200k subscribers at peak. to Compare, NCsoft's previous games, Lineage and Lineage 2 had millions of subscribers. Lineage 1 had over 5 million subscribers at one point and lineage 2 peaked around 4 million subscribers. both games still have around 1 million subscribers years after release.
That Aion will have more total subscribers than Age of Conan is pretty much a given.
That was my point. Your attitude completley gets in the way of your message..Alot of us have been playing MMOs for a long time and understand the way things work.
Valant believe what you will and make your predictions, in fact put in bold on a red background so we can find easier when the game launches :P
I think there's a healthy market for Aion and Warhammer and Age of Conan. Warhammer will probably beat the other 2 in numbers of subs, and that's more then fine by me, but AoC and Aion will be comparable imo.

Uumm..I guess you guys forgot we're talking about America here..not Asia where they dont know the diff between a grindfest and an MMO.
Don't forget to keep in mind that 40% of all gamers are women. I can tell right away Warhammer and Age of Conan already lost that share of the market. If developers think they can continue to exclude women as consumers, they're not going to last long, especially when most companies compete with each other over the male consumers.
(Sorry Cynthe, I couldn't resist ^^; )

Well I do have to admit that the game's story is centered around these two sides fighting so it does make me wonder about this gameplay choice of keeping sides off each other's respective areas.
I think AoC has one thing going for it as far as hype in the sense that it is the first M-rated MMO and that will generate hype.
War I am kinda reserved about b/c it seems to me to be a great game in terms of production value and overall gameplay but I think I am a bit tired of the generic Fantasy genre of Dwarves, Elves, Orcs and Humans. I am sure that this will have a healthy sub population due to many high level WoW players simply becoming bored of WoW but not wanting to change for a WoW type setting. (like they find crack boring so they feel like they should move onto meth. Still a drug but a new one )
I think I will end up playing Aion simply b/c of A) The combat appears to be very fast paced and interesting the environments are stunning. I will most likely create 2 chars just to see the areas.
I wish I could play all these games when they launch as MMOs are most fun when no one knows what they are doing and its about having fun then grinding out raids for gear so you can grind a higher raid for more gear and so on and so forth... *coughWoWcough*
Of course the 1 game I honestly can't wait for is Warhammer 40k Online which production just started on this year so it won't be out for some time =(
thats the biggest bullshit i have ever read ripp0r
its normal that you decide in a mmo. you chose a class. and you are bound on that class. you chose a questreward. and you cant get all of them, you have to choice. you choose a race. and thats a choice to. you cant interact in other games too...like wow, as alliance player there are no quests, traders or flightpathes in the towns of the horde.
its normal so stop whining bout that. its okay. and if they are both different experiences...i would like it more. more fun with an alt char...
and the homezones are for leveling etc. wheres your problem? go to the abyss and have fun. there is enough to do.
and dont shout thinks and kill games if you have no idea whats coming in the game.
Watch the interview for yourself, he said, and i quote " IN NON ABYSS ZONES, ASMODIANS WILL ONLY PLAY WITH OTHER ASMODIANS, AND ELYOS WILL ONLY PLAY IN THEIR GIVIN ZONES, THERE WILL BE NO INTERACTION BETWEEN THESE 2 FACTIONS '' Your MISSUNDERSTANDING..

Trade with the other faction
(That's currently what we know)
You can:
Step inside enemy territory
Kill opposing faction member's outside the abyss.
(Currently no restriction on starter zones)
Seriously, no interaction doesn't mean you will be completely isolated from one each other.
its like that to go with the story because once the elyos and asmodian were one race until Aion divided them both and split the races into two one in one world and the other in another. or something like that

Well I wanted to say i prefer Guildwars most for is instance world than being lost in a big world without any flag point. And i think Aion gonna be a lot in same condition alot of instance, and why that easy :
--> SCENARIO <---- Its pretty more amazin to play a game when you "live the action" and follow the story line with a group of people.
* take Call of Duty pretty more interesting than the other shother not because they have cool graphic and story, only because those npc are around running with you and more if you take in a mmorpgh you could have your friend with you who running or flying ! figthing and folowing the story with you *
Its more easy for them to make instance world ( in the case of Aion that will be huge instance, i think) Which youwill be able to fly with your friend and suddenly a trap of monster fall on you, and that go on...

Really?
From what i've read and seen about Aion. It seems to me the game is aimed at being a western style game, with a few eastern features and an eastern look about it.
From what i've gathered, it seems perfect for people like me who have enjoyed both styles of the mmo industry. I loved elements out of Lineage II, and I hated some elements of it. Same goes with WoW. Aion seems to be bringing the best of both worlds into one game. Progressing class choices, PvPvE (RvRvR), castle seiges, extensive character customisation. Not only that but it seems to be bringing in a few innovative features of it's own including the ability to use one weapons graphic and craft a really powerful weapons spec onto it meaning your character will look like you want it too no matter what. edit- I do relise this has been done before, but considering this is a mainstream mmorpg, alot of people will not have seen this before.
I think people need to research more about this game, honestly...

meh...all they were trying to do is make it more reality based. il make it short and simple. For example, England is having a war with France (no offence to both country, just an example). As a british soldier, you can't just walk into France and expect a trade/chat with the french soldier O.O or vice versa. This is for players to experience something more reality in fantasy. Not being able to trade/chat/hang out with other race doesnt mean you're not experiencing the game to its fullest. this is just a different way of experiencing the game. im pretty sure there are no restrictions and every race are allow to go into enemy's teritories with the risk of being PK
Not nearly as many people want PvP as you might think. I will NEVER play a game that forces PvP is primarily PvP based... and there are many, many more like me.
IM sorry Ripptor or wtf ever your name is but you really have no clue wtf you are talking about ME and like a few other in this topic know way more about this game.

Ken choi stated that you can become level 50 without pvping if you dont want to, so I doubt the abyss is the only zone to level up from level 20, it's just that the abyss zones will be amazing in xp/raids/drops and youll be able to gain XP through pvp aswell there, not only on mobs.
Aion = Lineage2 Clone where you can fly around and worst: You still cant run while you are fighting.
EA releases Fifa 08 and Uefa 08 this year to make competence to himself. Sounds as dumb as what you stated.
Add a little researched comment to it and you get a worthless post, there are videos where you can see a nuker making a "fast but weak" attack which can be casted while running, and there are videos where you can see an archer shooting while running.

They stop running because they are fighting NPC's. There is no point at all to try and 'dodge' NPC attacks or NPC spells, try watching some PvP videos or something instead of running your mouth.
