    Couple things

    1. Iam not a troll or a bigot if anyone is a bigot its the people that disagree with this topic, almost every mmo i have to play one type of human or a human with a different shade. Are there even black people in warhammer 40K? If not that must tell you something about the people that developed warhammer itsself.

    2. I dont want black zuluwarriors or black voodoo practitioners i just want black warriors and mages like every one else.

    3. In the highelves race and culture you can see many inspired asian culture and theme to the highelves in warhammer.

    4. What the hell does politically correctness have to do with this topic, just because i want to see more black people in mmos means it has to be P.C? They are two different subjects i just want to see different types of human customization then just A white guy with a tan or darker skin tone. Just because they are dark doesnt mean they are black. Many french, greek and italians are very dark. This is about human customization as seen in games like vanguard and guildwars. Not just two or three different human races but one not just one human race thats completely customizable?

When a company builds a successful franchise like games workshop has, they become very hesitant to change things. To them the old saying applies, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

To games workshop, Warhammer isn't broken, so they will probably  stay true to the races, lore, places, etc that have already been developed.

I understand wanting to have an avatar that you feel best represents you as a person, but please try to remember. This game isn't a representation of the real world. It's a fantasy based universe that has very very little tangible connection to reality.

I can appreciate your opinion on this, but try to see it from the developers perspective.

    1) They are creating a game to make money.

    2) The Warhammer franchise already has a fairly sizable fan base.

    3) Fans want their beloved franchises to remain true to the details found within their original universe (lore). To do otherwise would risk alienating the fans.

    4) Developers will honor the fans wishes and not change details (like races) because.... you guessed it, the fans will like the game and more money can be made.

in WoW some of the races are kind of based on real cultures but not the physical characteristics of races.

    Drenai-Hindi

    Troll-Jamaica

    Night Elf-Native Americans

    Dwarves-Norse duh

    I forgot the rest.

Let me ask you guys this. If there was a game where everybody in the game was Black and you had no choice but to be that race would you play it? Be honest with yourself when you answer this question.

This is a very sensitive thread and I can see it being closed or deleted fast. I am sure somebody is about to say something really bad.

Exact thing i was thinking i remember many people saying how in GTA san andreas they wouldnt buy it unless they had a way to change the main character to white and didnt like the fact the main character was black. I dont see why this thread should be closed as long as we dont go overboard this was merely a suggestion to why there arnt more human customizations.

I totally agree. Having a new race appear in the future, like in an expansion pack, is certainly an option. But with the released game, they'll play it safe and stick to the franchise details that have already been developed.

I've got to say I don't completely agree with the OP, but there are some things I agree with him on. First of all I don't understand why whites are responding to this post in such a negative way, seeing as how almost every good game out there gives you the option to be white, you obviously wouldn't be complaining about this topic. Seriously lol if all you could play as was black or asian characters I'd know you guys would be pissed too :P.

Lore really has nothing to do with the fact that they don't include a lot of races in most games. For example the only reason  LOTR had no black people in it is because of the time period it was written in, and the fact that the author is white. Just like how if a black person designed a game, he would probably make a majority of the characters black.

I disagree with the OP on  the complete African apperance. I could care less if you make it so I could just be a darker shade of a white character model. Just give me the skin shade and some hairstyles, like a fade and I'll be fine. There's no need to make the developers work their a**es off.

You can't say that civilization don't advance, however, for in every war they kill you in a new way.

But, I also agree that games should stay true to their ip's. If that means no Arab race, then I must deal with it I guess. If such a Race already exists in an ip, then fine, but I don't think that devs should turn their projects into politically correct playgrounds. Just 2cents from a fellow U.S Minority.

You can be Arab in Voyage Century Online. There are Arabs in the Warhammer world but unfortunately Araby will not be part of the game...

There will be African Skintones in WAR - probably faces as well

Your sig says something about World of Warcraft. If You have played it, you must be pissed at them too because i don't think they have a black race either.

The warhammer IP has racial characteristics from all over the real world(evil thing). Take a look at the map of the Old World and look where the race in the real world would have originated from.  And just to be cheeky, there are BLACK orks in the IP

  • hermit000hermit000 Member Posts: 91

Oh almost forgot there are asian themes in the IP, mostly refered to as Cathay.

  • VyethVyeth Member UncommonPosts: 1,461

this topic is already too ignorant...

It is a FANTASY game.... Not a real life simulation...lol.. no black people??? Come on... Does that argument even count for anything when it comes to mmo's???

This is almost laughable.. Oh..and before the "I am a racist" flames start to fly in.. Note: I am also an african american.. But, i don't waste my time playing a certain race in games simp-ly because it "matches" my real life skin tone...lmao

geez... And here comes rev. Al Sharpton on this matter too huh? lol... MMO Rights activists and stuff... lets be real people..

Just to be cheeky if i want to be a black guy i dont wanna play a monster unless thats what your implying.

Just because your a black guy that has no problem always being a white guy thats your fault, i and many others would like more human customization.

maybe if you would stop looking at everything in this world as being "black" and "white" you wouldn't feel a need to post ignorant stuff like this... this is amazing man..

    btw just going to bring up the fact that dark skinned humans are in absolutly *no way* against GW lore. I concede that it's not exactly the most well developed parts of the game but it's not as if they'd be pulling it out of thin air. Hell if anything it gives mythic and GW a way to sorta expand the lore through the mmo and develop it back into the wargame. Cause after all taking an IP's lore from one media to another is all fine and dandy but it's even better if you can sorta share between the both, that way an mmo player might see something they think is cool happening in the wargame and decide to try it out and vice versa. Anyway in addition to the tomb kings region already mentioned, which could easily create some sorta survivors from the old world race there's also;

"Araby is a location in the fictional world of Warhammer Fantasy. Geographically it roughly corresponds to the real world North Africa. The culture of Araby is based largely on historic Islamic Arab nations (hence the name 'Araby') and as such draws on inspiration from the history of the Near East and Middle East as well as North Africa. Much of the supernatural background is based on the mythology of the Arabian Nights." Araby actually has an army list for the smaller scale warmaster game

    and

"The Kingdoms of Ind in the World of Warhammer, is equivalent to the Indian Subcontinent in the real world. In the relevant Army Books of Warhammer, there is little reference to the Kingdoms of Ind. ...Just inside the nation of Ind is a coastal city called the City of Spires. The rulers of Ind are said to be attended by many servants and slaves as well as being wealthy and generous."

Of course there's also Cathay and Nippon which is modeled on China and Japan respectivley. So yeah, it's not as if the IP only allows for white european style humans. There's a wide range of skin tones and cultures in the Warhammer Universe and while I'm not saying eaither way if Mythic should feel obligate to add them, the arguement that they're not in the IP is just incorrect.

  • ZoodooZoodoo Member Posts: 67

Vyeth if the world isnt just black or white then you wouldnt mind warhammer adding complete black features as a option for humans in warhammer?

And to be fair about WoW atleast they let us play jamaican trolls if it wasnt for the trolls i would be pissed at WoW too.

being a monster wasnt what i was refering too, but the russians are ogres(ogre kingdoms) south americasn are lizards(lizardmen), empire are germans, Bretonians are french, wood elves are the native americans, araby is pretty straight forward, tomb kinds are egyptian/north african, and on and on and on

  • ZoodooZoodoo Member Posts: 67

Trying not to exagurate (sp?) but i think its kinda lame that monsters represent real life races, IE South americans = lizard men

  • hermit000hermit000 Member Posts: 91

I dont think its lame at all, i think it lets them have a fantasy world that a lot of poeple can relate to due to the historical similiarities and still let them suspend disbelief to make the fantasy aspect work.

Yeah, and just coz I want to play an Elf like character in SWG, I should not have to be so beastlike.  Lucas Arts needs to modify their entire game lore to satisfy my overt need to play an Elf and still play SWG, since there are not already enough games out for me to be an elf in.  Developers need to cater to me!  I want to be an elven Jedi who wields a trusty ApplePieSaber.  Anyone who disagrees with me on this is the true bigot.

It lets GW(EA Mythic) creat a rich vibrant world that can appeal to a whole range of diferent tastes based on peoples prefered/favourite mythologies

  • hermit000hermit000 Member Posts: 91

and still retain th fantasy feel of the game...who wants to play humans all the time in a fantasy setting anyways?
