man everyone is just standing still trading blows. might be still a good game tho. Too bad they dont place more important on player movement and tactics. Like standing out in the open is death when you got archers and Mages about. Warriors should have their shields raised to deflect arrows. Mages will be needed to help shield the Warriors from magic assaults.
Anyway the Evil faction looks cool though. I like the looks of Chaos faction I do. The art direction isd very nice. They have very nice features. It just doesnt seem to innovate mmorpg combat but hopefully it'll provide some nice RvR. Will be nice to attack a city and actually be able to take control. Should be good as long as they get that right (city sieges and impact)
frigging learn to read dude it was a scripted video they put together for corporate. They didn't want people acting like real frantic players. It would of been to hard to watch and keep up thus losing corporate minded folks interest.

If so... I think I just watched a clip of a fight that took place outside of Ironforge in one area... another fight in either Stratholme or part of Stormwind... and another fight somewhere around Undead City or maybe Duskwood.
And the combat... I guess I just didn't see anything new, unique, edgie, different, promising, or even remotely 'next gen' about the footage.
There are other better pieces of footage out there. This video was terrible.
Hmmm animations are not too good, this is why it looks static I think. If you compare it with the early WOW video, WOW looks so much more alive.
There is also stuttering at some point which doesn't help.
Graphics don't look like WOW at all, only maybe one landscape of the several that can be seen, kind of like the outside of Ironforge, but that's abslutely non important.

Looked like shit to me i mean WOW looks good because it has such a great art style which makes the game look better than games like EQ2 which has more polygons. Friggin this game has the bland art style of DAOC and the bad graphics of DAOC which is like a 7 year old game......... I reckon this game will flop harder than Vanguard, probably have more subs but theres sooo much hype over this game, many many people will be disappointed. You can tell with all the footage so far and only like 6 months left in development that this game will be no good. The animations are a complete joke too.
WOW's expansion is just gonna step all over this game.
Miffy have you even looked at any of Warhammer's art?
or
Do you have any idea what IP greatly influenced Blizzards creation of Warcraft?
EDIT: I'll give you some links to artwork after a class I have at 11. For now you can watch this.
Yeh the concept art looks really great but once it's in game it just looks total crap, more like DAOC than Warhammer. Also the games tooo cartoony and bright colours for Warhammer and all the time i've known warhammer it's meant to look more like the CG trailer than w/e crap they made. Also the textures are all soooo low detail and horrible it just looks real bad.
WOW looks sooo much better.
Also i don't care if Blizzard stole the idea off of Warhammer because warhammer stole their ideas off someone else and it always happens with everything.
It looks more like DAoC because it is made with the same engine.
WAR is still in beta anyway, so assuming that you will see the same quality on launch is bogus.
Try not to judge the quality of a game by the graphics. ( Gameplay > Graphics ) The best games I have ever played are the ones with less focus on looks and more focus on experience/content.
EDIT: Also, Warhammer was created 25 years ago. If anyone influenced Games Workshop it would have been Tolkein, but if there are any similarities, they are very vague. Definately not as barefaced as WoW.
Looks like WoW. I'm not saying it won't be great, but it looks just like WoW.
I don't know why people keep saying that. I think the people who have ONLY played WoW thinks it looks like WoW. In truth, it looks more like Daoc than anything (with MUCH BETTER graphics.. which is the way I like it).
Actally... seeing as it's techcially the only Warhammer fantasy game that has caught the attaintion of the mass market (seeing as Warhammer games are 'mostly' 40K based) and seeing as you can't turn a coner these days without seeing somthing Warcraft related, anyone not firmillar with Warhammer Fantasy will assume it looks 'WoW-ish'..
To those who know Warhammer Fantasy... it looks 'Warhammer-ish'
Come on guys lets not kid ourselves - it looks like WoW.
Yes Warhammer was here first and yes WoW is an undisguised Warhammer rip-off but for the 10 million players that Blizzard got to first - it's going to look like WoW.
Mythic could have taken the art work in a very different direction and made a very distinct graphical style quite separate to WoW - & still kept true to the GW roots.
But they didn't and for a very good reason - they aren't stupid.
There is a game out there with 10 million players that has it's PvP hopelessly wrong. So they're going to tear a chunk off it and good luck to them. I'll be paying & playing on launch day.

This video can be very misleading in terms of how dynamic the combat can be. I have seen better footage of PVP before so this may have hurt them by putting this out there.
With that said even taking that into consideration the animatiions, spells, etc was simply underwhelming. I am not sure how all of this can be improved upon in such a short amount of time and all we can do is cross our fingers. But Aion and AoC definately have distinct art styles incorporated into their games and will be competing with Warhammer in the near future.
It is true that WAR may want to tap into WoW but I think this may turn off those wanting an alternative to WoW not just in terms of better PVP options but also visually looking at the game world.

While I have seen combat more dynamic in other videos I have to agree to an extent. If this is a corporate vidoe they are showing to the suits they need to wow them/impress them/sell them that this will work. So you muster the best, action filled video possible to make that hard sell. That video was very underwhelming and IF I was a suit I would be shocked by what I saw.
Please tell me this is not a corporate video!. As evidenced we can tell how the general public is reacting and you can only imagine how the corporate suits would react as well by watching this video.

Simple is best if you try to show them a true depiction of how players will play the game they'll not be sure what they're seeing not to mention turned off to the entire concept. Showing them the very basics of the mechanics is all you need to wow suits. I have to deal with this all the time where I work. We come up with this awsome idea for a demonstration of our simulators and instead we get veto'd by the suit over us to make it more simple so they can SEE whats going on. Like instead of a great aerial combat scene we get stuck with just flying a couple of planes over the water to show reflections & particles!
Visual over load a suit and they'll end up having more negative things to say, suggest, and comment on than you want. I dont know how many times I had to add bullshit dumbcrap that weigh'd down my work because a 'suit' thought it was a good idea and that the 'user' needs help staying oriented (despite the fact the whole point of the program was to 'train' the user to orient themselves).
And all because we showed them the 'advanced' stuff for when users are an 'advanced' point. Lets just say we build the advanced stuff n show the suits the simple part these days.

Dude. The video wasn't THAT bad. Especially for BETA. You're making a big deal out of nothing. Only the beta testers will truly get a feel for what gameplay is like. You can't get that from the videos. It may not have the graphics of Age of Conan, but then, at least it won't have their lag either.

Considering the game should of been released like a year ago, show us just far they still need to come, based on this video they chose to make available, my mind is made up I wont be playing the full version until Xmas.
Its up to Mythic if they want to put media out, they should first watch it and think "hmm could this be detrimental to the game?" but I think that they think they have all of you brainwashed already.
This game is not a few months from release it months and months away, expect all the raid content to be released in the mean time to go with the raid calendar in the game already.
Why does pvp look so static and sluggish? Is it just the way they're playing or the abilities that make them all just standing in one place. It looks like dozens of melee class all together doing 1v1 pve. Art is dull as usual with warhammer.
I agree with others. So what if this is beta? How much can really change for one? And, if this is all they give people to go on it's going to taint how people see the game regardless of what stage it's in. Though I have no more hope that AOC will be a better game, at least AOC vids look prettier.

Watch again and listen to Paul rather than zoning out.
but only in graphics wich is not the most important thing for me... lets see the focus they give and test in our computer to get the feeling...
I propose Mythic just stops making the VoTM because obviously people are too stupid to actually pay attention to the damn thing...
It looks like EQ2 with a more barbaric armor style. But maybe I'm just jaded and feel like I've seen it all before.

If you made a real video of RvR the suits will have no idea what the hell is going on.
Players jumping, casters casting, orcs chopping, chaos mutating, squigs biting, and everyone dying .
They need something simple, that shows the concept and gameplay animations/graphics.

Dude. The video wasn't THAT bad. Especially for BETA. You're making a big deal out of nothing. Only the beta testers will truly get a feel for what gameplay is like. You can't get that from the videos. It may not have the graphics of Age of Conan, but then, at least it won't have their lag either.
You're just assuming corporate people are stupid. Seriously, how hard did you have to convince yourself to make that post?
