lol yeah I agree the game was great for me also untill there was nothing left to do except for there lame pvp. For anyone thats a power gamer or elitetest this game is not for you. In 1 week and 3 days of game time I maxed this game out. The pvp is just a zerg fest of noobs just trying to get there pvp armor.
After playing many polished games you can see how much effort went into this game and it tries to take a step up from WoW in many aspects. Like i said on another thread if this game had the ability to cater to the masses (low comp required - mind you it wouldn't have the amazing graphics) than you would see a large migration to this game - especially for those of us with raiding guilds etc in other games and friends that simply can't play this bc of their machines.
If your bored with the other big titles out there try it, as they have a nice free trial (unlike some games lol VG) bc they are confident you will like it and purchase their product. Trial is available on the official Lotro site.
I play EQ2 WoW and this - and this is the only game i don't feel like is a job to play atm.
Even the haters have admitted that this game is great ! Just no for them , and I applaud there honesty and sincerity as well as acknowledging that Turbine has made one of the best mmorpgs to date. For the mass fan base for this game grows, so does the the list of praises. There has been a lot of people who just find the game lacking something, I think what that something is is the amagination to play insode a world as great as LotRO. For those of us who played other games under the hardcore genre , LotrO still gives that hardcore edge but in a story based role playing game, it will be another century before any company can pull off what Turbine did. To those of you who know this game is not for you , but aknowledge how legendary Turbine is as a developer for making a"grreat game" I salute you !
Ah well, its a bit more than just not for me. I start loving the game, from CB to OB I played with full devotion almost hitting max cap by end of CB. I make many alts and tried out almost everything in the game after it went live. I am a life time member meaning no need for monthly forever.
I was in the top raid guild/kin, I have alts for raids, and alts for soloing. I have regular friends to meet everytime I log in. Being the GM in every crafting trade, I have long list of people waiting for me to log on alts to craft for them. I must say the game gives me many things to do, excellent friends (and a very great community at large), and all sorts of gameplay from raiding to soloing. Cannot say I have anything to "blame" LOTRo for. Last but most important, Turbine releases new content regularly and free.
With so many good things to praise about LOTRo, why did I lost the urge to log in. That is what bothers me. I want to stay in LOTRo. I once loved it, and I never ever said I hate it. I still need to figure out what went wrong. Actually after LOTRo, I no longer played any MMO. Maybe that MMO part in me died, maybe its not due to any fault on the part of LOTRo.
lol yeah I agree the game was great for me also untill there was nothing left to do except for there lame pvp. For anyone thats a power gamer or elitetest this game is not for you. Lmao and what is a BG (guaranteed u also play wow)? dewd u just described Bg's exactly - u burned yourself - and like said a thousand times on these forums yes the game does not have a Wow/style play forever for 1 stat upgrades system to let you subscribe your life to them for nothing more than marginal upgrades of your gear.
PS - for someone that calls themselves an "elitetest" you should learn to spell Elitist and also "their" as those are pretty easy for an "elitetest"

Maxed out the game? not sure what that means. Care to come back and describe it? A week and a half?
do you mean in 240 hours worth of game time spread out over 3-4 months? Or a week and half after you first logged in? Cause 240 hrs really isnt that impressive, and a week and a half is impossible. And are you talking about lotro pvp or 99% of the other MMo's..i couldnt tell the difference from the description you gave. Very generic. Couldnt even tell if you've played the game to be honest.
Who the hell still power games btw? I thought that ended back in EQ when people realised it was just guys trying to impress other guys..and that was...gay.

I have to point out something , somthing i myself havent figured out. When i pvp (which i do not PVMP) i think of the orcs like the uruk cheif in the end of the fellowship of the ring.
Hell that uruk must of had heartseeker on boromir.
I think of the uruks that are in pvmp as the best of the best.
most people complain that the orcs in lotr were not ment to have skill thats why i disagree.

I dont see why people would complain about the orcs...
I personally LOVE the whole PvMP idea, its the best way a PvE game could ever possibly integrate PvP into the system.
And battlegrounds etc are just pure suck, this is one BIG zone... call it world PvP because thats what it is, a mini form of RvR.

There isn't anything wrong, you just accomplished all the goals you set out in the game. Happens to everyone, for every game. Just means its time for you to move on to something else. I felt the same way and moved over to EVE, and its refreshed me a bit, hopefully in time for AOC/WAR.

Well said, Kyleran
No game is going to hold someone forever. Yeah, yeah... I'm sure someone will now come on here and say they've been playing UO steady for 10+ years. In that case kudos.
The average time-span a person spends on a given MMO before they switch to something else isn't universally agreed upon, so I don't have any facts to back up a guess with. My guess is that it's somewhere in the 3-6 month time-frame.
Obviously a lot of us play more than that 6 month time-frame... but there are probably just as many only playing 1-2 months. Anyway, as I said; that's just my guess because I couldn't find anything authoritative that says what the actual time is.
This April will be 1 year for me in LoTRo... with no intention of leaving.
Who the hell still power games btw? I thought that ended back in EQ when people realised it was just guys trying to impress other guys..and that was...gay.

I never agree to say that!
You have a game which is centered and focused on PROGRESSION. But you have a game where the BEST items are to be earned in a specific gameplay. Having some of the best rewards accessible only in a gameplay, mean that you MUST play that or accept to "fail" and be weak.
This raiding-ending invalidate the whole game and was trashed to the garbage before it even hit the shelves.
This grouper would rather bang head in a wall all day long than play such a weak setting.

2. If you arent into mmorpg, you know Role playing games, you shouldn't play them. 3. LotRO is a great game and even the people who "actually" played the game but realised the game wasn't for them have commented. <modedit>
Again I say it, any game which FORCE raiding on me = bad, and this include this title.
Don't you go saying that every hater say this game is great, I never say that, never would. This game is 1 of the worst game ever. Forcing me to CRAFT & to RAID make it double worser. Not better.
<modedit>

I think the raid gear kinda sucks personally. I ONLY wear it when I do a raid. And theres no noticeable difference to be honest. I do notice a difference when I PVP or solo..my raid gear is clearly worse for that. Im not sure what you mean by the best though.
