Im having trouble with my graphics card and playing Star Wars Galaxies, i've got the settings on a pretty low setting and still it jolts quite a bit. When i first tried it with my new graphics card it got into the game and came up the screen went black and after a while came up with aload of green bits then about 5 secs later it came up with a message saying that ATI Control Panel has resetted the graphics or something similar and went back into the game. Once in the game it jolted, and the graphics flickered on the buildings and all over the place, on stairs, walls etc.

I downloaded the latest drivers from Powercolors website, and loaded up the game again. It got into the game without the black screen this time, but the flickering on the buildings and scenery is still there and it jolts quite a bit still.

Please could anyone help me, I can't seem to find the problem at all.

try turning texture baking off in the options panel. If there is heavy artifacting that'll be due to gpu overheating. Bear in mind though, SWG does have many bugs graphically. I think those full shadows are just a myth image

I couldn't seem to find the texture baking option in the options panel, it had a few boxes to tick but no texture baking there.

Someone suggested I downloaded and installed the VIA 4 in 1 drivers, I haven't got a clue what these are and if he's right or not, are these motherboard drivers? I've got an Asrock motherboard.

I noticed no one answered this for you so let me go ahead and do that. I would either choose ASUS or PNY. Both are good. I am going to be getting the 6800 Ultra, because it is so hardcore =P, and I will go with either of them (Considering ASUS doesn't make it right now, PNY is who I am going with at the moment... that could change though).

after no-one answered i found this http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/vga/vga/pro_vga_detail.php?UID=605 (i know its not the GT, but i like the games bundle and i like the price) and this http://www.digit-life.com/news.html?107374#107374 which can turn it into a GT-esq card with 128mb. When i get this card, i can get some more goodies for my pc too image like a brand new 17" TFT screen, a new 120gb hdd, and 5.1 speakers. If funds are big(?) enough i might be getting a new mobo and cpu (amd 64) which really would be nice.

    OK, Last time, I swear!

My birthday is coming in the next few days, and my parents finally decided to get me a new computer. But the problem is, they want a good company like Alienware or such that has a good reputation and a customer support line and a warranty on the entire computer, etc. They also want it pre-built, because they don't trust that it'd get put together properly.

So what I need from you: a pre-built computer capable of playing Lineage II to it's MAX settings in almost every situation, and then be able to actually move around in a siege without crashing or dropping majorly in framerate. Must include all the trimmings--monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers(/subwoofer?), etc.

    Under $2000.

Good luck, Angels. Make me proud.

well, pre built. You arent going to get the best trimmings, unless you gave me $2000 and i built it then sent it image. Otherwise, http://www.cyberpowersystem.com/ do pretty good systems.

Cyberpower is kind of pissing me off. I ordered a notebook from them on the 2nd of august. even ordered 5 day rush shipping. still hasnt arrived. I called them and they proceeded to tell me it has been backordered for 2 weeks and they expect more in this fri....

im sitting here cursing a storm cause they made no mention of that when I ordered it.

other than that, no complaints other than they take forever to update the online order status page. i actually got in contact with their customer service pretty easily, so all the horror stories about that seem to have been resolved.

As long as the bus has a power outlet or an extention cord running into it. If that's the case, then you shouldn't drive it, as you might pull the extention cord out.

That's nothing...I ordered my laptop on July 23 and it STILL hasn't come in from www.IBUYPOWER.com so don't feel bad...Tomorrow afternoon is the ABSOLUTE time limit from them, so if it isn't shipped out tomorrow I'm calling for an explanation and trashing them on reseller ratings.  Stuff like this pisses me off...not a word of why it's taking so long.  They claim up to 10 days from when you ORDER it...it's been 10 days since my credit passed as of tomorrow afternoon, and 2 extra days on top off that NOT counting the day I ordered it.  I know a partial problem is that people have had a problem keeping the Radeon 9700 pro in their mobility line in stock, but I didn't hear anything about it.  Since they didn't notify me, they can't use it as an excuse.

Unless you're the king of france, don't buy an Alienware. Way too expensive, expecially if your looking in the 2000 dollar range.

I would have suggested just building one, but after i read all of your post i would say check out tigerdirect.com , cyberpowersystem.com , ibuypower.com , or voodoo.com . For pre-built, i would go with those.

    Ok I have a question.

My Dell computer has a gforce4 mx (somenumber) video card and i need to upgrade it to newer card to play Everquest 2.  I looked up on my computer that its agp slot is 4x.  If if get a agp 8x card will it still work in my computer?(assuming that it just run slower)

Anyone have any suggestions for a video card with a price range of about $150? or should i wait a few months till eq2 comes out so video cards will be cheaper?

    imageThanks image

p.s all of my other requirements meet for eq2 except the videocard

    - Looking forward to : EQ2 and WoW, yea both of emm

You have to find out if your motherboard is compatible with the x8 slots for the video card. What is your motherboard type?

Ok, this throws 3 flags up in my head.

    1) No, you cannot use an 8X AGP card. It's a DELL Mobo. NO upgrades for you!
    2) You have a DELL. They use half sized cards...thus limiting your range of cards down even farther. Combine that with #1, cutting out even more posibilities.
    3) You're not going to see a card that can run eq2 for $150 for YEARS to come. The newest cards on the market (RE: $250+) Cannot run EQ2 on full graphics right now, and I doubt a 9600XT/9800 Pro/5700 Ultra will be able to compete. Waiting a few months won't really help, you'll still be in the same boat.

Honestly, start saving up for a new comp. Come christmas time, you might have the money for a really nice one that CAN run EQ2 at a stready pace no problemo. But I doubt you'll be able to do it with your current set-up...if you play EQ, go into the Forgotten Halls of of Nedaria's landing...the zone is built around the DX9 EQ2 engine and is watered down...if you have ANY lag problems in that zone, heed my advice completely. It's a way to test how your comp will do in the upcoming months.

     Right now i have a P4 2.4ghz, 512MB Ram, 120GB HD and a Radeon 9200SE.

I'm trying to improve my gaming performance so i can play games like EQ2. I should probably add another stick of RAM, but my graphics card is what's really screwing me over. Even CoH can get some low fps.

Anyways, what would you guys reccomend on a graphics card for around 300 dollars?
