Seriously, I dont understand it, I played WoW for a preatty decent time, and I generally liked the game but have grown to dislike what they have done to it over time.
But honestly Why no player housing!? I know they have the time and money to do it, why not stop adding levels and extra areas for once, and just put in player housing? I would honestly go back to the game for at least a month just to see that.

I think they should at least implement guild halls.
yea guild halls would probably work but i can't see housing in WOW. it works in similar games like lotro but it just doesn't seem to fit in WOW. theres always a post or 2 on the WOW forums about player housing and most people say it would be a waste.
Because no one actually RPs in WoW and really thats the only use I see for it.

Housing was good in SWG where you could place vendors, crafting stations and collectible items, but World of Warcraft has none of these...
Blizzard themselves has stated a few times that player housing/guild halls are useless fluff features that bring nothing to the game and only serve to detract resources from more important areas of the game.
Well, they put it better than I just did but the message is still the same.
Player housing is worthless.

Yeah housing in SWG was the best, you could put throphies on display, decorate it with rare items, place vendors etc. In WoW it would be pointless to have housing unless some very important elements are added, and since we are talking about blizzard,a house in WoW would propably cost 10k gold.
there is no reason for housing sadly. AH is in town, they have guild bank and bank. what u ganna put in ur house other than decorations?...
Player housing was totally amazing in UO, was one a key feature and lots of fun. Having ur own castle and decorating it urself coudnt pwn moreee
In Wow it just doesnt fit at all. I dont see it happening.
I think SOE always regretted the use of ingame housing in SWG. Housing polluting the servers and destroying the atmosphere and creating big lag.
If the kids in WOW want housing, the best thing Blizzard could do imo is give them instanced housing.
"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"
I agree housing can be useless unless you give players the options to set up shops in them, but I suppose that would just bring in more gold farmers.
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S

When they reffered to resources earlier in the post I think they were reffering to development resources and not actually server or technical ones. Keeping those old dungeons isn't causing any more lag to the server than if they weren't there, and after all the time spent by the development team creating those dungeons why pull them out. Also believe it or not people still run them.

And IMO for new players coming into the game they are extra content, and some are alot of fun, I have good memories of mc and all..
The value of player housing IS whether or not it is something that brings a player back to the game. I loved my player housing in SWG, unfortunately the nerf monster killed the cool very original game system SWG started with.
I liked my EQII housing alright but the overall graphic style didn't work for me and I was wanting something else game wise.
I didn't like FFXI's housing, I hate cutsie things and having one as my house manager that was ALWAYS there ... UGH!
I said the same thing. No player housing? I couldn't beleive it my self either.
I came form Anarchy-Online and SWG where you had player housing. Was very sad to see nothing of the sort in WoW.
I don't play WoW anymore. I'm waiting for Age of Conan. Its made by Funcom so thats guaranteed to be a good game.
I personally have no desire for player housing in any game. However given how fast Turbine put quite decent housing into LOTRO the fact that WoW does not have is quite sad really. Especially considering that a significant number of LOTRO player s do take advantage of the housing.
From a personal perspective i am far too busy with other things in the game to be decorating a house or arranging my sword collection and if i did have that time and money to waste i would have serious doubts about the game itself.
As has been said already i could see a place for instanced guild halls, but even those would have a limited capacity as everything you need is already catered for in the major cities anyway, especially with the addition of guild vaults.
It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Player housing. Would you like it to be instanced? As I don't see any other way around it, with so many subs. If it's instanced, I wouldn't like it.
Ok, well wow does not have to add housing, but thay sure have to add something to the game, i mean what have thay done in 4 years of time?...well im my opinion very very little beside adding more Battlegrounds ,Instance, Raids and 1 expsanion pack...
Bah...realy bad and slow development on this game...

I would be happy to debate anytime the "usefulness" of player housing in an MMO.
IMHO the main attractor to this feature is it's social aspect and an MMO is, by it's very nature, a social experience. Adding player housing and guild housing would not only add the possibilities to furthering social experiences but would also opens the door to more depth.
Amongst the issues I've had with WoW over the years one of the largest has been that no matter the friends I've made, the quest I've completed, the Kara Runs I've helped and the lands I've discovered, I still always feel completely disassociated from the world.
For me, player housing in some form would help alleviate that. It would bring an attachment to the world that was in some ways "permanent" and would allow me to have some roots so to speak.
With Blizzard resources you could even take this concept a step further.
Instead of making player and guild housing a static, fluff-filled experience, make them exciting and innovative.
An idea I've also enjoyed:
Attach a player housing zone to every major factional city, a housing district instance independent from the city itself but with entrances available both from inside the city and outside the city. Make them World PvP areas that are raidable by the apposing faction, give players the ability to have vendors in their houses and allow for community leaders to be voted in some type of benefit as an end to the means .
Whilst it's certainly true that, for many, player housing may not be a priority but for MANY other it is and it CAN be something that filled with innovation, fun and adds some quality elements to the game. IMO, Blizzard needs to take a step this way.
Important Information regarding Posting and You
Hmmm, slow development. 1 major expansion, another on it's way, 16 major patches and may i add that all without any major issues. They may not be the fastest but they are by far one of the cleanest and that is much more important. Just as a reference here is just "one" change from every patch since release;
Maraundon, Meeting Stones, PvP honour system added, PvP Battlegrounds introduced, Battlemasters, Dressing room, Four Dragons, Linked auction houses, Weather effects, Keyrings, Cross-realm BG's, Improved Honour systems, The Black Temple, Voice Chat, Guild banks & Sunwell isle.
That is only one picked from each patch and there was much more, the game has changed a lot since release.
I can understand the idea of a more social atmosphere with housing or guild halls, but if you look over previous patches and what work they will have ahead of them with WotLK, you can understand why this is a very low priority for a while yet.

WoW already has housing, its called banks.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

Well personally it is all a matter of perspective i suppose, you are right that it is a hell of a lot to introduce within one year, but why have they had to introduce so much within only 1 year??? Did they not put enough content in the game to start with? Were features withheld to move the release date up? Are they pandering to the power players only with the risk of leaving other players behind? .......or maybe you are right and they are just fast developer? Also, to be fair if you look back over that lot and take out the extra dungeons (a critisism you levelled at WoW), cosmetic stuff and stuff that WoW already had on launch, there isn't really a lot there
WoW developers as far as i can see are pretty much working along the lines of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and with this "slow" development rate i still have plenty of in game content to keep me busy, even after all this time.
Again, i just think that as long as there is enough content to keep players coming back for more and new subs keep coming in it is unlikely that they will look at housing and if they do start looking at it i wuld hope that it is purely as a bit of fun and it doesn't take away from development of proper content.
It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
