Everything about this game is much better than anything I've played MMO wise. It's really a shame it had all of those launch issues. However, something is bothering me about it. If I do all the work to get to level 50, are they going to close it down?

No, this game will not close down anytime soon. There is enough of a fanbase to keep it going. Whether or not there will be anything more than one or two game updates per year (i.e. an expansion) remains to be seen.
Currently playing: No MMOs. They all suck.
I'd wager since SWG is still running and has a dev team Vanguard will be around for a while too and probably continue to get new content.

I did mean fantasy based. I think EVE-online is the best MMO of all time, imo. I have three accounts in eve. But the Vanguard diplomacy system is just awesome. I love the crafting, too.

As usual, you didn't bother to read the entire thread, the OP already acknowledged that he likes another game more.
Just jumping on the trolling bandwagon for just about everything these days....Do you even play MMOs? Do you have anything positive to say about any of them? Everywhere I see your post its just doom and gloom about them.
Peggle is a fine game you know. I don't believe they have forums to troll however....
this game is my number two favorite mmo I have ever played after EVE. I read tons of bad stuff about it but was intrigued by it enough to drop 20 bucks on it to give it a try and have been pleasantly surprised. I have played in no particular order
UO, Lineage, Lineage 2, WOW, Everquest, Everquest 2, SWG, Tabula Rasa, FF XI, COX/COV, LOTRO, Second Life, AO, Planetside, Maple Story, DAoC, Darkeden, Dofus, D&D Online, Dungeon Runners, Fury, Knight Online, Mabinogi(Beta), PotBS (beta), Requiem: Bloodymare(Beta), RF online and so forth.
and yes I have no life.

I've played many MMORPGs and I have had this much fun since the early days of EQ1. The populations are on the rise, the game is much improved and there seems to be much more planned for this game. So I very much doubt it will be shut down.

My reason for leaving the game was the silly pvp. Granted its really a pve game with pvp duct taped to it as an after thought, but thats also affected the population on the pvp server. It washard to want to stick around when there are few people to kill, er I mean group with...
Vanguard is vastly improved, there isn't a whole lot to hate about the game now, but some people will always see this game as it was at release.
It's worth checking out (again).

9)Default UI is clunky and ugly.

I just have to comment on this, that if it's a year old game and is has this many major faults that are due to be changed. Then shouldn't we all agree that there is something seriously wrong with this game.
I don't mean now that Vanguard wouldn't also have it's good sides, as it has also much good in it. It just would deserve a larger dedicated team to support and upgrade it, so that it could really be fixed and some time become a good game.
As it is I don't think it can be considered good, it has its fans just because there isn't any similar and good game available.
this thread makes me miss my Raki Ranger. Vanguard did annoy me a lot with bugs and crappy performance, but I miss the game world and my characters for sure.
Thats possible but many of the points on that list are subjective based on personal taste. I think many games look and play like garbage but thats my opinion.
So out of that 14 point list 3 maybe 4 are actually technically valid the rest are based on opinion and individual taste attempting to be passed off as fact.
What turns me off Vanguard;
Saying that I will try the trial when/if its released but till then Vanguard is off my MMO radar.
The current owners of Vanguard, have a different idea about the direction the game should take. They are the owners, thats their right.
I used to pay them to play. I stopped paying them, because that direction looked and smelled an awful lot like a sewage filled stagnant cesspool to me. That is my right.

1. If someone cares for graphics so much that it decides about what game he's playing, he should play egoshooters and not roleplaying games.
2. I cant help people that arent impressed with Vanguards art and graphics. For me, its much more than I ever asked for. The viewing distances you can have in this game are simply amazing. And the various races have been matched beautifully, for example, the halfling houses are done exactly right.
3. People who want visually perfect combat should play, guess what, damn egoshooters. Combat in Vanguard is simply superb; I keep wondering how I will ever be able to stand a game without these combat features. I frankly dont even have time to check the combat animations, because I have so much else to do.
4. Sorry, but I dont care for animal races.
